"I think you should slow down," Noah comes up from behind me and says. I wait a few seconds before turning around to face him.

Damn, he looks so good tonight. His caramel-colored waves have a little bit of gel in them so that they're slightly pushed away from his face. His tan skin is glowing, and his ocean-blue eyes are standing out, as per usual. He's wearing a V-neck white t-shirt and black jeans, which are tucked into high-top grey suede sneakers.

"And I think you should mind your own business," I snark as I down the tequila that's in my cup.

"Wanna tell me what I did to piss you off so much?" he asks, making his way in front of me. He takes the red cup from my hands and places it on the table.

"I don't know. Wanna tell me what you're doing with that slut?"

"She's just a friend," he says, but I don't buy it.

"Really?" I ask, tilting my head. "Do all your friends tickle your skin like that? How about straddle you on a stranger's bed?"

He doesn't respond, and instead, inches closer to me. He shifts his body slightly so that his mouth touches my ear. "Don't pretend like I don't want you," he whispers in a serious tone before pulling back.

"You don't," I state.

"Your brother made you stop seeing me, remember? And when I tried to get you to look the other way, you refused. So don't act like I'm sort of stranger who broke your heart."

I can't help but nod my head. Because he's right. That's exactly what happened.

"Well, it doesn't really matter anymore now does it?"

He flares his nose and nods slightly. "No. No, I guess it doesn't."

I go to reach for the cup, but Noah stops me again. "I think you've had enough," he says, placing his hand over mine and taking it from my grip for a second time.

"It's too bad that I no longer care what you think," I say, taking the cup back.

"Fee, give me the cup," he demands, wrestling with me.

"No," I shout as I stride past him and make my way towards the opposite end of the kitchen. I open the door that leads to an empty backyard only to hear Noah trailing behind me, prompting me to turn around. "Don't you think it's rude to leave your girlfriend inside unattended?"

"You know she's not my girlfriend."

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot," I say, coming to a stop, which forces him to as well, "you don't do the whole girlfriend thing."

"You're drunk, Fee."

I walk up to where he's standing so that we're no longer standing several feet apart. "Yeah...so?" I search his eyes, even though I'm not looking for an answer.

The scent of his wood sage and sea salt cologne is pulling me in even more and I'm officially captivated. I bring my face to his so that our lips are almost touching, and open my mouth slightly so that my breath is on him. "Kiss me, Noah. I know you want to."

He gazes into my eyes for a few seconds before breaking away from whatever it is he was just thinking about.

"I can't. And, you don't want this, Fee. You might think you do, but you don't."

"I do, though, Noah. I want it. Just kiss me. One kiss, that's all I'm asking," I beg, but nothing.

He's finally about to say something when our moment is interrupted. The porch light turns on, illuminating the face of a silhouette standing before us.
