Katsumi stood there for a moment amongst the trees, eyeing the young female who eyed her back. She had a feeling she could probably take her on in a fight. But something was telling her to not take this person for granted. So she didn't, but decided maybe it's best to just avoid her.

For a second time, she would encounter the same female deep in the forest of the small island. Katsumi was only in the area because she had followed her target there specifically, she didn't expect to be watched by one of the residents so closely.

"Do you have a problem with me being here?" Katsumi finally yelled out. The unknown female knew it was directed at her, so she answered back.

"Yeah! What the fcuk you doing here!?"

For a moment, Katsumi was slightly surprised by her vulgar response. Who the hell talks like that to strangers!?

"I'm working!" Katsumi yelled back annoyed. "So can you just go away and fish or something."

The female, slightly offended by the comment, threw the small fish she had in her basket, at Katsumi. Which she had easily dodged.

Katsumi growled, before jumping down from the tree, and approached the female that stood before her now. Her hair was a dark green, with menacing brown eyes. They almost felt unwelcoming.

"Can you leave me alone, I'm working." Katsumi declared.

"You don't look like a fisherman." The girl answered. "So what could you possibly be doing here for work?"

"I'm an assassin dumba**!" Katsumi got riled up. Who the fcuk was this girl anyways?

The girl stared back blankly for a moment.

"An assassin? On whale island?" The girl questioned.

"Yeah, got a problem with it?" Katsumi shot back, her arms crossed now.

"What's it like?" The strange girl continued to ask. "What's it like outside the island?"

For  a moment, Katsumi stared at her in disbelief.

"You've never been off the island?" Katsumi questioned.

"No." The girl shook her head. "What's it like? If I help you find this person you're looking for, will you tell me?"

"I don't need your help to do a job I was born into." Katsumi declared.

"Whatever." The girl answered back, grabbing Katsumi as she did and pulling her along. "Let's go."

"Wait, where are we going?" Katsumi asked once more. "I told you I'm working!"

"Yeah, yeah. Just follow."

And the girl took Katsumi to a small river, the clearing slightly small. But near the river, hidden amongst the bushes on the edge, was a man, hiding.

"Is that who you're looking for?" The girl asked in a whisper.

"How did you..." Katsumi questioned as she stared at the paranoid man, looking back and forth to every loud sound in the area.

"I've seen him walking through the forest for awhile." The girl admitted. "He's not from the island either, so I kept an eye on him as well."

Katsumi stayed silent for a moment. How was this girl keeping an eye on two random people in such a large forest on her own? Was she also trained by assassins? Or trained in a such a hard degree that it allowed her senses to sense everything in the wooded area?

"Give me 5 mins." Katsumi ordered. "I'll meet you in the town and tell you about everything away from this island."

"Alright." The girl answered, and walked off. That was easy... and now, Katsumi could finish her job.

Katsumi kept to her promise and met the random girl in the town. In a sense, this was her paying the girl back without any financial help.

At first, extremely hesitant, but the girl began to grow on Katsumi. Katsumi had found out that the girl was a year older than her, and lived with her family on top of the hill. She learned of her dreams to one day travel the world, but her aunt wouldn't allow her to do such a thing. She said her aunt wouldn't allow her to abandon her family like her dad, and they had ended up fighting because of it.

"Take me with you." The girl said.

"What?" Katsumi asked surprised. She understood that this girl wanted freedom to travel and explore, but she also felt it wasn't her place.

"Take me with you." She repeated. "Let me travel with you."

"I travel for work." Katsumi explained. "Where would you even go?"

"Anywhere." The girl answered. "I want to see what's on the other side of the ocean, I want to see what other animals and life is out there. If the other islands are just like mine."

Katsumi was hesitant, she really didn't want to get involved in such a family matter. So she quickly scribbled something down.

"This is where I live, and here's my contact information." Katsumi explained. "When you leave this island, come find me. Maybe we can travel together while I work."

"Really?" The girl questioned, seemed to be in slight disbelief that she was able to meet someone that didn't live on whale island.

"Yeah. And call me Katsumi. Katsumi Zoldyck."

"My name's Kagome Freeces." Kagome replied with a grin.

A year would pass by before Katsumi would be asked to go to the butler's quarters with grandpa Zeno. There, Kagome stood with a grin.

With news of a so called friend of Katsumi's living in the butlers quarters, Silva wasn't happy. But the endless training, the constant high end missions Katsumi brought home, it was clear that this friendship didn't stop her from finishing what she needed for her end goal. Perhaps he could allow this one thing, for Katsumi to have.

"Thought you weren't allowed to leave the island." Katsumi almost joked, but there was a hint of curiosity in her statement.

Kagome was silent for a moment, as if thinking of the rights words to explain. But ultimately, decided to say exactly what had happened.

"We got into a fight again, me and my aunt." Kagome said with a small laugh. "I told her she was being unfair, that she was the only thing keeping me from my dreams."

Katsumi listened with intent, her facial expression becoming serious.

"I regret saying that the most." Kagome continued. "I guess I'm not to far from what my father had done, abandoning my family for a dream."

"I mean, I guess." Katsumi answered. "But is it fair that you have to stop following your own dream? For the sake of someone else's?"

"No." Kagome answered, her voice just above a whisper. "But I miss them so much. And after what I said to her, how could I ever go home?"

A silent cry was the last thing Kagome let out, before she felt a warmth on her head, and a shadow loom over her. She looked up, only to see Katsumi smiling down at her.

"You go home, when you fulfill your own dream." Katsumi answered. "And when you're ready, you go home and apologize for ever hurting your family."

With that, Kagome cried even more to Katsumi. And Zeno heard everything, how could he even push this young woman away from his granddaughter? Especially when this young woman had just taught his grandchild, one of the most basic and important of human emotions.

Compassion.
