Chapter thirty-six: Ignorance is bliss (Alex's POV)

I woke up the next morning to Faith still asleep beside me.

She's very upset with me. She's not even showing half of it.

I fucked up bad even though I intended to help her. She's not wrong, I should have had more control over my anger and I regret Faith seeing it but I don't regret beating the fuck out of Cody. I wanted to go back to sleep but I didn't. I just went downstairs and made myself a coffee. I sipped it and immediately threw the rest down the drain.

It tasted nothing like Faith's. I'd been having her coffee since she offered to make it and now no other coffee tasted as good. No one else was up. I sat at the counter, staring out the window until I heard faint footsteps.

I looked up and saw Faith walking down.

She got to the kitchen while she was tying her hair up in a bun. She grabbed herself a glass with some water before grabbing a mug and turning the kettle on. She opened the cabinets until she found the coffee. She sipped on her water while not even glancing at me.

Once the water was done, she added the coffee, added the slight amount of sugar she does, just a tad bit milk, little to none before leaving the mug in front of me, and going and taking a seat on the couch. She scrolled through her phone, completely ignoring my existence.

Hayley came down here and made herself a cup of coffee. She looked between us before patting my shoulder. "Logic: Ignorance is bliss," before heading back upstairs.

Is that so?

I sipped on my coffee before going and sitting next to Faith. She finished her water and stood up. She went into the kitchen and washed the glass before opening the fridge. She grabbed herself some grapes, washed them, and took them up to the room.

"Fucking hell," I sighed while leaning my head back.

Daniel came downstairs and then sat beside me. "Dude," he laughed. "Ignorance is bliss," he patted my shoulder.

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" I huffed. I finished my coffee while talking to Daniel before the girls came downstairs.

"Do you guys wanna go to the lake? We can go swimming or just lounge around?" Daniel suggested.

"Sure," they replied in sync. So she's talking to everyone but me? "We'll go change, you guys make some snacks till then," Hayley said before they went back upstairs.

When they came downstairs to take over, we went to change. After coming back downstairs with towels for all of us, we headed to the lake with all of us holding some of the food. "Your towel," I handed it to Faith.

She ignored me. She didn't even take it.

"You could just take it." Still didn't.

I tucked the towel into the waistband of her shorts before setting my stuff down on one side and going into the lake.

Daniel went in with me while the girls set out the mat and took out some drinks. Faith handed the drinks to Hayley who passed them on to us. Once we were all set, we all got to talking. And by that I mean Faith and I just talked to Daniel and Hayley.

She caught my eye when she took off her shorts and tank top and sat on the edge, dipping her feet in.

"Bro," I groaned while turning my back to her and facing Daniel.

"You made her upset. Now you suffer," he shrugged before falling still and I figured he was looking at Hayley.

I turned back around when I heard her laugh. I hadn't heard her laugh like that after yesterday's incident. I missed it. I swam over there and propped myself up beside Faith. "Can I steal her for a moment?" I asked Hayley.

"Su- ow!" she rubbed her arm. "Sure," she nudged Faith before getting into the water and swimming to Daniel.

"So, I hear ignorance is bliss." I sighed.

She stared ahead, still ignoring me.

"Faith, you can't just act like I don't exist," I huffed. I tried holding her hand but she snatched it away. "Faith, listen to me," I tried again but she did the same thing. I was losing patience. I stood up and grabbed her wrist, pulling her up.

I picked her up and took her back inside. I set her down and she looked at everything but me. "Faith!" I shook her but she didn't even glance at me. "If you don't talk to me right now, I swear I will just kiss you."

She had her arms folded across her chest before she finally looked at me. Well, glared at me.

"Why are you ignoring me?"

She just shrugged.

"Don't just shrug at me! Why are you ignoring me?" Nothing. I poked her side.

She jumped, grabbing my wrist while shooting daggers with her eyes. She still hadn't uttered one word.

"Faith, please don't do this. Do you know how amazing you look right now?" I asked while picking her up and seating her on the counter. "Faith, you look amazing," I kissed her cheek.

She wasn't pulling away but she wasn't smiling like I wanted her to.

"You look beautiful," I kissed her other cheek. "You look gorgeous, Faith," I would have kissed her lips had she not turned away. "You look so hot," I saw her expression faltering. "You look stunning." I grabbed her face and turned her to look at me.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "I'm so, so, so, so sorry. I am so sorry." I wrapped my arms around her waist. "I love you so much, Faith." I kissed the back of her hand. "Please, babe?"

She still wouldn't speak.

"Baby!" I yelled. I grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her lips down to mine.

She tried to pull away and push me off but she wasn't able to. She didn't kiss me back.

"I'm gonna stop trying, Faith. You're just being mean at this point," I looked at her with complete seriousness. "Give me a kiss." Nope. "I want a kiss!" I whined. "Faith?" Nothing. "Fine," I huffed, turning around to walk away but she grabbed my hand and pulled me back.

"I'm listening, keep talking." I rolled my tongue on the inside of my cheek. Sneaky little shit.

"I love you, I love you, I love," I said between the kisses I peppered on her cheek. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for making you upset. I should've been more considerate of your point of view, I shouldn't have taken it so far. I'm sorry," I tucked her hair behind her ear. "I love you," I repeated while looking into her eyes.

"How much?" she asked.

"So much," I held her face in my hands.

"This much?" she held up her thumb and index.

"This much," I spread my arms out. "I love you," I leaned in. Before I kissed her, I pulled back, smirking when I heard her groan under her breath at me pulling back.

She glared at me and I quickly kissed her. "Is your arm okay?" I pulled away, my forehead leaning against hers.

"Mm-hmm," she nodded.

"Is your cheek okay?" she nodded again. "I'm sorry," I kissed her again before pulling her down. "Do you wanna swim?" I held her hand in mine.

"Yeah," she nodded with an excited grin.

I went out with her, jumping into the water. The other two had drifted off somewhere so it was just us.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my torso. "Ignorance brings bliss," she smirked.

"Oh, really?" I smirked before poking her sides, tickling her. We swam for a while and then lay on the deck, soaking the sun.

"Faith?" I turned to look at her.

"Hmm?" she looked at me while holding her hand up in front of her eyes, trying to block the sun.

I hovered on top of her, blocking the sun for her. "Don't ever say what you said last night, okay?" I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"What did I say?" she asked in confusion.

"You said you bring problems, you said you're ugly and that you hate yourself. Don't ever say that again. You're the most stunning person I've ever met. You're beautiful inside out." I leaned down and kissed her.

It did get a little heated. I kissed her jaw, down her neck. Left her a hickey or two.

Before Daniel and Hayley interrupted us.

"Alright then, have fun you two," they walked past us.

Faith hid her face in my chest before we stood up and headed inside. We all took turns showering before we met for dinner and movies in the living room.

Faith was sitting in my lap, while I was looking through, finding movies. She fed me spaghetti while sharing it with me, eating some herself.

"Ooh! Let's watch The Dark Knight!" she said excitedly.

I looked at her in disbelief. No chick flicks and it's a good movie.

"I love you," I said in complete seriousness.

She grinned cheekily before feeding me. Hayley and Daniel came in with drinks and some more food while I clicked play.

Ignorance brings bliss indeed.
