Chapter fourteen: Hoodies (Faith's POV)

"I am sorry! I am so, so sorry!" I whisper yelled while opening my closet door.

"Faith, you were gone for like ten hours, where the hell were you?" he stepped out while breathing heavily.

"I didn't know he was gonna have me reorganize his entire office, I thought it was just a file or two, I'm so sorry!" I bit back a laugh while looking at him.

"What?" he sighed while his arms dropped to his sides.

"You uh-" I stepped forward and pulled my black bralette off his head. He looked down while a faint blush coated his cheeks.

"I wouldn't know, actually, because it felt like I was buried alive!" He looked at me wide-eyed.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," I laughed while sitting on the edge of my bed. "Can I ask why you felt like you were being buried alive? My closet is neat!" I reasoned.

"Yeah um- I accidentally pulled something and then uh- everything kinda fell on me," he mumbled.

"You what?" I asked before quickly standing up and opening my closet to see everything on the floor. "Alex!" I shrieked, "What the hell did you pull to cause this?" I turned to him with frustration and confusion.

"I'll help you clean up?" he offered.

"Damn right you will," I stepped inside and began grabbing clothes, folding and stacking them, hanging up whatever needed to be hung.

"How come I've never seen you wear this?" he held another bralette over his chest. I snatched it away and folded it,

"I wore that to Daniel's party last year at the cabin," I blushed while putting it away.

"No, you didn't."

I rolled my eyes, "Yes, I did." I countered.

"Nope, you wore this," he grabbed my scarlet red bralette and dangled it in my face. I sat there and thought.

I did wear that red one.

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes and put that one away too.

"You know I'm right," he laughed while folding up some of my shirts and handing them to me.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." I shrugged while standing up and hanging some flannels, jackets, hoodies, and cardigans up.

"Is that yours?" he pointed to one of the hoodies I had hung up. I looked at it and pulled it off the hanger.

"No," I sighed, "It's Cody's." I bit my bottom lip before tossing it out of the closet, onto the floor.

"Well, where are the rest?" he asked as we finished up the clothes and then stepped out.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"He's only given you one?" he asked, almost in disbelief.

"Yeah, why?" I questioned.

"You don't just give your girlfriend one hoodie. She's supposed to have more of your hoodies than you do yourself," he chuckled.

"She is?" My brows furrowed in confusion.

"Yeah, and then when she gives them back because they don't smell like you anymore, you love them even more because they smell like her," he stared at the ground while sitting on the edge of my bed while smiling to himself.

That sounds like something he really wants.

"And who do your hoodies smell like?" I sat beside him, nudging his shoulder with mine.

"Just me," he shrugged, snapping out of it.

"Well, who do you want them to smell like?" I questioned.

He sighed, "You," he answered while turning to face me, making me realize how close our faces were. "As my girlfriend," he smirked and reality kicked in, "It has to be you," he stood up.

"Right," I smiled while standing up with Cody's hoodie in hand. "Do you want to come with me?" I asked.

"Where?" he asked.

"To Cody's," I replied.

"Okay?" he replied skeptically before agreeing and sneaking out with me. "What're you gonna do?" he asked as we walked down the block, to Cody's.

"Just trust me," I glanced at him. Once we got to Cody's, I turned to Alex. "Wait here," I said. I walked up to Cody's driveway since I knew that he wasn't home, he had work tonight and I took this opportunity to be petty. I rang the doorbell a billion times and waited.

His sister got the door. His sister just graduated from college and got back.

"Hey, Faith! It's been a while," she laughed while leaning in to pull me into a hug but I backed away.

"Could you please give this back to him? Tell him thanks for cheating," I smiled sarcastically before shoving the hoodie in her hand and walking back to Alex, grabbing his hand and walking away.

"Just to be petty?" he smirked at me.

"Yup," I nodded proudly. Once we got back to ours, we said goodnight. "I'll see you in the morning," I smiled.

"Bye," he kissed my cheek.

"Bye," I blushed before walking back into my house. I walked in to see my dad in the kitchen, grabbing some water. "H-hi," I stuttered.

"Where were you?" he raised his eyebrows at me.

"Saying goodnight?" I smiled awkwardly.

"Saying goodnight? At seven pm? We haven't even had dinner yet?" he questioned.

"Mom! Dinner!" I called out before running and taking a seat on a barstool.

"Is there something I should know?" My dad gave me a knowing look.

"No," I replied way too quickly.

"Do you like him?" he questioned.

"No," I said.

"Faith," he said warningly.

"Mom, I'm dying here!" My mom came out in her pajamas.

"Jesus," she mumbled before serving us dinner.

"Faith likes Alex," my dad said quickly.

"No, I don't!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, I know," my mom shrugged.

Yes, we are a bunch of kids.

"They're dating," my mom said.

"What the hell are you talking about?" my dad and I asked in sync.

"I saw you kiss him today after he got selected for the captain," she shrugged while throwing her hair in a bun.

"He kissed me." I reasoned.

"Hmm, and you kissed him after that," she gave me a pointed look while getting her food and sitting down opposite me. "It's complicated, huh?" my mom scrunched her nose at me.

"Something like that," I sighed while picking at my food. I ate up a little before proposing the idea that I skip school tomorrow.

"Mom, how long did you really watch the tryouts for?" I looked at her skeptically.

"Oh, the whole time," she said while eating.

"Then you saw how Cody hurt Alex, right?" I asked while twirling my fork in my food.

"What are you getting at?" she arched an eyebrow at me.

"Well uh- he can't go to school tomorrow. I saw the bruise, it was that bad and uh- I was wondering if um-"

She cut me off. "If you want to stay home to help him out then you can, you don't have any tests tomorrow, do you? Nothing important?" she asked.

"N-nope, nothing important." I shook my head.

"Make sure to get notes from your classmates." She gave me a pointed look.

"I don't get a say in this? Alright, cool," my dad shrugged while putting our dishes away.

"Well honey, what would you have said?" my mom turned to him.

"Probably the same thing," he shrugged.

"Night guys," I laughed before going up to my room.

My parents are really chill as long as I don't give them reasons to complain. They understand almost everything I go through and deal with and they support me through it all and I am so very grateful for that.

I got to my bathroom, brushed my teeth, washed my face and did what I had to do before crawling into bed and under the covers, getting cozy while drifting off to sleep.

x-X-x

"Bye honey," my mom kissed my forehead in my sleep. I woke up after that and threw on a tank top, a pair of sweatpants and a jacket on top before grabbing a bunch of snacks and heading to Alex's house after slipping my phone in my pocket.

I rang his doorbell and waited. His dad got the door.

"Morning, Mr. Ryder," I smiled at him.

"Please, call me Paul," he replied while letting me in. "Well, Jen has gone off to work and I'll be heading out now, he's still asleep in his room, have fun," he explained before leaving.

I skipped up the stairs and looked at both rooms. One down the hall to the left and one to the right. I walked to the one on the right because that would be opposite to mine and knocked softly before peeking my head through.

He was still asleep and I thought of being an annoying little brat and waking him up with clattering pans but he could use some rest. I went back downstairs and crashed on the couch.

I had just placed the food on the kitchen counter when I heard a thud from his room. I sprinted up the stairs and swung the door open to see him wincing while groaning on the ground.

That dumbass fell off the bed.

"Are you okay?" I laughed while making my way over to him. "Morning," I smiled.
