IT WAS FINALLY THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE. and while everyone cracked jokes every few minutes, you knew they were all a bit nervous to perform live for so many people. still, you were probably the most anxious out of all of them.

with your fingers digging into your palms, an old habit since you were a kid, you stepped out of the waiting room and headed for the vending machine to get a drink, and hopefully calm your nerves down a bit.

you put your money in and pressed e4 before bending down to pick up your drink. the cold feeling of the can against your palm was soothing the marks your nails had left.

as soon as you stood back up and turned around, your forehead was met with bakugo's defined chest. "ow" you exclaimed and stepped back but his two large hands pulled you back in and into a hug.

"you still nervous?" his voice barely above a whisper was rather soft, his warm breath fanning him over your ear before he rested his chin on your head.

you finally hugged him back, rubbing small circles with your thumbs reassuringly, mostly to reassure yourself though, as you smooshed your cheeck in his shirt "yeah, a little".

he patted your head gently "don't be. you have nothing to worry about. now shitty hair... he better not mess up those riffs or i'll kill him."

his empty threat and playful tone made you giggle a bit "what? you won't kill me? am i getting a free pass from katsuki bakugo?" you pulled away a bit to look into his red eyes, chuckling.

"no. i just know you won't mess up. you're too damn good" he smirked at you playfully but his tone was serious, proving he means it as he leaned in and gave you a sweet peck on the lips.

coming from him, it meant a lot. bakugo didn't respect just anyone and definitely didn't admit someone was good or strong too easily.

you gave him a sweet smile, appreciating his efforts to calm you down before you started walking back to the waiting room together.

you tried to distract yourself with the only other thought roaming in your brain: your relationship with bakugo. even though you both had came clean with how you felt, you still hadn't talked about labels, going out, or dating officially. there was a silent agreement to wait after the show was done and you weren't complaining.

"good, you guys are here! we're up in 5!" sero's voice brought you out of your bubble of thoughts.

"alright let's do this" kirishima said excitedly as he picked up his guitar.

"we got this guys!" kaminari added with a big smile and two thumbs ups.

soon enough, you all took your positions and waited for bakugo's signal.

"let's kill everyone with our music! 1, 2, 3, 4!" bakugo yelled as he set the beat by tapping his drumsticks together.

kirishima started with the guitar, bakugo joining in with the drums, and kaminari sang:

i'm a puppet on a string
tracy island, time-travelin'
diamond cutter-shaped heartaches
come to find you four in some velvet mornin' years too late
she's a silver linin'
lone ranger ridin' through an open space
in my mind
when she's not right there beside me

then you joined him:

i go crazy 'cause here isn't where I wanna be
and satisfaction feels like a distant memory
and i can't help myself

suddenly bakugo's voice sang with yours, making you look at him a bit shocked:

all i wanna ever say is, "are you mine?"

well, are you mine?
are you mine?
are you mine? oh, ah

kaminari stopped and let bakugo sing the next part, as he gave you a thumbs up. you looked at bakugo confused. what was he trying to do? this was not how you practiced. he held your eyes and continued:

i guess what i'm tryin' to say
is i need the deep end
keep imaginin' meetin'
wished away entire lifetimes
unfair we're not somewhere
misbehavin' for days
great escape, lost track of time and space
she's a silver linin', climbin' on my desire
and i go crazy 'cause here

isn't where i wanna be
and satisfaction feels like a distant memory
and i can't help myself
all i wanna ever say is, "are you mine?"
well, are you mine?

the other boys repeated:

(are you mine tomorrow?)
are you mine?
(or just mine tonight?)
are you mine?
(are you mine? mine?)

you collected yourself for your part:

and the thrill of the chase
moves in mysterious ways
so in case i'm mistaken, i

to which bakugo reaponded with:

just wanna hear you say,
"you got me baby"
"are you mine?"

kirishima and kaminari killed the guitar solos for the next few seconds, keeping up with bakugo's drums, until you and kaminari sang the rest of the song and finished strong.

the audience went crazy with their applause, clapping and screaming. kirishima and sero gave big smiles and small waves, you and kaminari said thank you through your mics, while bakugo just nodded as you all left the stage.

"yeah! that was amazing! come here you guys!" kirishima jumped up excitedly before forcing all of you into a group hug which earned him a bunch of yells and profanities from bakugo.

"hey, excuse me?" a middle aged man in a backward baseball cap and black shades, desperately trying to look cool, interrupted your little celebration.

"kirishima, right? i'm the owner of this venue and i spoke with you before, about your performance tonight. how do you feel about doing this every week? you guys were amazing and the audience loved you. so what do you say?" even though he addressed kirishima, he looked at all of you expectantly.

kirishima looked at you for confirmation, receiving small nodds and a shrug and eye roll from bakugo before answering the man.

but you didn't get to see where their conversation went since bakugo dragged you away into an empty hallway and caged you by the wall.

you couldn't help but smile, remembering the number of times he'd done this to you.

"that was quite a show you put on, katsuki. that was not how we practiced. what if someone had messed up?"

"that's not how you practiced, but the other guys were in on it" leaving one of his hands flat on the wall next to your head, he brought the other one to your chin and tilted it upwards to ensure you looked into his eyes as he said the next few words with a rare smile.

"so y/n, are you mine?"
