Hazel POV

After we left the diner we decided to call it a night and go home. Austin drops me off and honks at me as I walk in the house.

"I thought you were going to invite a friend to sleepover." I look at my mom and look at the drunk man on the couch, "Yeah I thought twice, I don't want nobody to see a drunk man and my mother who won't get rid of him."

I walk pass her and she grabs me by my wrist to stop me, "Hazel why are you being so distant with me?" I snatch my wrist away, "Since when do you care about how I am? You've never cared before, so you really don't have to care now."

I rush upstairs to my room and lock my door. I jump onto my bed with a big sigh, "We will be okay if she didn't let that man stay here."

I close my eyes and seconds later darkness takes over me.

Next Morning

I wake up to my phone ringing, "Hello."

"Wake up!! Me and Lily are coming to get you in an hour." I groan at Mason demand, "Why? What are we doing today?"

He stays quiet for three seconds, "We don't know yet, just get up and be ready in an hour." He hangs up and I roll my eyes as I get out of my warm bed.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Yes, Mom?" I go to my closet and wait for her to reply, "Are you going anywhere today?" I let out a loud groan, "Yes I am. Now can you please leave me alone?" She slowly starts walking away from my door.

I start hearing her sniffle as she steps away. "One day we'll fix it between us, but just not today." I say to myself.

An hour later Mason honks for me to come out. I climb down my window and run to the car.

I get in and they both look at me, "Why did you climb out the window? Are you sneaking out?" I look at Mason and laugh, "No, I just like coming out the window."

Lily laughs and Mason drives off, "Where's Ian? I know where the others are." Silence takes over us for a whole five seconds.

Lily takes in a big breath and lets it out, "He has something to do, so we won't see him until tomorrow." I arch my eyebrow, "Is something wrong?"

They both shake their head, Mason looks at me from the rear view mirror, "Hazel we can't go in depth with this conversation. We don't have the right to tell what's going on, so please just leave it at this." I nod my head and look out the window.

I know I'm new to them as a friend, but I hate not knowing what's wrong with Ian.

I look out the window and sigh, "What are we doing today?" Lily looks at me and shrugs her shoulders, "I don't even know, Mason won't tell me."

Mason laughs, "First let's go get some breakfast and then we can figure out what we want to do." Me and Lily both scoff, "You don't even know what we're doing?! Why did you invite us to something you don't know?!"

Mason shrugs his shoulders, "I didn't want to stay home. My mom invited some annoying family members over." Lily rolls her eyes and I let out a soft laugh.

"Shane has to work at the diner today, Owen is training all day, and Austin is hanging with Matthew today. It's just going to be us three today, so deal with it and have fun with me!" Mason honks his horn and scream.

We arrive at a buffet. "Y'all do know that this is the most I have eaten out? Y'all make me spend the most money, when are we going to eat at someone house?" Mason looks at Lily and then back at the road.

"Who knows? We'll figure something out." I roll my eyes as we walk through the doors.

We follow the waiter to a table. "Hi I'm Jack and I will be your server for today. What would you like to drink?" We order our drinks and go to get a plate of food.

Five minutes later we sit back down at our table. "How about we go see a movie and go roller skating afterward?" I look at Mason and nod my head with a smile, "That would be fun, let's do that."

Lily takes a sip of her drink, "What movie are we going to see?" Me and Mason both shrug our shoulders and Lily scoffs and rolls her eyes.

I don't know why, but my mind keeps going to Ian. I really want to know what's going on with him. I just want to know if he's okay.

Ian POV

"Come on Ian, we have to go get some flowers and then head to the cemetery." I look at my mom and walk pass her.

We get in the car and head to the flower shop we go to every year. "Do you want to help me pick out the flowers?" I look at my mom and shake my head no.

She lets out a long sigh and she gets out the car and leaves me and my dad in the car. "Son it has been two years. You need to lighten up on us, we're your parents and we're trying to help."

I scoff and roll my eyes, "You're just doing this so I won't end up like him." He quickly turns around and glares at me, "Him?! This him was your younger brother!"

Before he could go any further I put my headphones on and ignore him. My mom comes back with a smile on her face, "I think he would love these."

We pull off and head to the cemetery. We arrived fifteen minutes later.

I put my hood on as I get out the car. I walk ahead of my parents towards his gravestone. Minutes later I see his stone, I walk up to it and sit in front of it.

Loving son, brother, and friend.
Timothy Cooper.

My mom set the flowers down and sniffle. I roll my eyes at her and look at the stone. "We're back Timmy. I've missed you, there's not a day that goes by and you're not on my mind."

My dad puts his hand on my shoulder and sigh, "Me and your mom miss you. Every day we have a moment of silence just for you. We're sorry we weren't there for you." My mom starts crying harder and I move my dad hand off my shoulder.

We stay at his stone for thirty whole minutes. As we are walking back to the car my mom looks at me with red eyes, "Do you want to eat at the same place we usually go to?" I shrug my shoulders and sigh.

Every year it's the same thing. We go see Timothy and go to a restaurant not too far from the cemetery.

We get to the restaurant and I look at the time, "Ian, honey, you haven't said anything all day. Are you okay?"

I scoff and roll my eyes, "Do I look like I'm okay? Should I be okay?!" Her eyes widen and my dad glares at me, "Don't talk to your mom like that!" I roll my eyes and mumble curse words under my breath.

We order our food and sit in silence. I look around and see other families.

I put my head down until our food comes. We start eating in silence.

"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! I want a cupcake! You promised me a cupcake!" I look over and see a little girl and her dad, "I know sweetie, I'm about to order it now." The little girl smiles up at her dad and claps her hands.

Seeing that reminds me of Quiet right now. I wonder what she's doing. I regret yelling at her, I just don't like sharing my past.

After we were done eating we head back home. As soon as we arrive home I rush out the car. "Ian, don't you want to watch a movie with us?" I look at my mom and see hope in her eyes, "No I don't. I'm going to my room."

"Ian!! Why the hell are you so mean and rude?! We're trying to be here for you, but you keep pushing us away!!" The anger I have been holding for years finally comes out.

"What do you mean to be there for me?! This family will never be the same?! I lost my little brother because you two wouldn't listen to him!" My mom walks up to me and I step back, "Don't come near me!" Tears start rolling down her face.

I start walking upstairs, "I am not done talking to you!! Get back down here!!" I turn to glare at my dad, "Finally!! You're finally being a real parent and yelling at me!!"

He walks up to me and gets in my face. My mom comes in between us, "Stop! Don't do this!" I move her hand off my chest.

"Y'all have been trying so hard not to make the same mistake twice that y'all became the worst people to be around!!" My dad throws his arms up, "What do you want us to do?! We try everything with you!!"

I let out a heartless laugh, "Y'all are so scared that I'm going to kill myself like Timmy!! He would still be here if you would have listened to him. This fucking house is hell!! You don't yell at me, you don't even tell me no!! If I told you that I want to drop out of school right now, you would not disagree with me!! I want the parents when Timmy was still here with me!!"

My dad looks at me with wide eyes and my mom starts crying harder, "If only you had listened, if only you had given some of your time to Timmy. My little brother will still be here, he would still be annoying me, he would still be making me laugh. We would still be a real family, but you two ruined that."

I walk upstairs and grab my keys. I come back downstairs and see them still in the same spot. "I'm going to be out for a while, don't wait up. Oh, I forgot you won't."

I walk out of the house and slam the door. I get in my car and drive off. I need someone right now, I need to call Hannah.
