Hazel POV

The bell rings and people start coming outside, "We're here! Did you do anything?!" Lily asks Ian while breathing hard.

Ian shakes his head no and laughs, "Why did you run?" She crosses her arms and sits down on the bench, "Because Mason and Shane stopped to talk to some girls and I got irritated and told the girls that they had some type of disease."

I arch my eyebrow at her, "So you're running away from them?" She nods her and seconds later Mason and Shane come running out. Lily hides behind Ian and scream, Ian holds his hands up, "Calm down. What type of disease did she say that you have?"

"GONORRHEA!" They scream at the same time. Mine and Ian eyes widen and Ian starts laughing. I look at Shane and he is breathing hard.

Before I could say anything someone calls Ian name, "Ian, babe what are doing? I see two new people around you." Megan glares daggers at me and I hide behind Shane. I grip the back of his shirt and he pulls me from behind him.

He looks down at me and points to his arm, "Squeeze onto my arm, I don't want you to get my shirt wrinkle." He softly laughs and I would have rolled my eyes, but I am too scared to.

Ian looks at me and then back at Megan, "Megan I have to ask you a question and I want you to answer truthfully." She looks at Ian and slowly nods her head, "Have you been bullying this girl right here?"

He points at me and Megan eyes widen, "N-n-no. W-why you ask me that?" He looks at Megan with disgust, "You know I hate bullying and you know why I hate bullying! You're bullying someone behind my back?! Why?!"

She steps back from him, "Because she thinks she's better than me and other people!" Ian stares at her with wide eyes, "That gives you the right to bully someone?! You know what?! Forget it, we're done! Don't talk to me and don't even look at me!"

Ian storms off and Megan starts crying. She looks at me and I flinch, she starts walking towards me. "This is all your fault! I'm goi-." Before she could finish Lily trips her and she falls to the ground.

Mason bends down to her eye level, "You put her through hell and back. You lucky I'm not going to let Lily do anything else to you. Don't come near us again." He stands up and looks at me, "Let's go to cheer practice."

He smiles at me and we head back to the school, "Do you feel better now?" I look up at Shane and nod my head, "Yeah I do."

We start walking back into the school and Lily skips pass us, "You still didn't smile. I'm going to get you to smile before the week is over."

We walk into the gym and he looks at the clock, "Sorry Cupcake, I have to go. Go sit on the bleachers with Mason." I nod my head and he rushes out of the gym.

I go to sit beside Mason and he smiles at me, "How do you feel?" I look at him and shrug my shoulders, "I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me."

He smiles at me, "Hazel! Make sure you watch us closely." Lily smiles at me and Mason laughs. I nod my head at Lily and she runs back down to the gym floor.

"What sport do you play?" He looks at me, "I play baseball." I put my head down on my knees and he laughs, "Is this your first time trying to hold a conversation?"

I slowly look up and nod my head, "I feel honor that you tried it out with me. Just act normal and talk about any and everything." He looks at my struggling face and laughs, "Give me your hand."

I hold my hand out and he puts his against mine, "You will be forever short and small." My mouth drop and I stare at my hand, "How did you know that?"

He starts laughing and shrugs his shoulders, "Because I know." I continue to look at my hand in shock.

"Hazel! We're about to start! Make sure your watching!"

Shane POV and after practice

Me and Ian are now done with football practice. "Let's head to the gym and see the others." I look at Ian and nod my head.

We walk to the gym and before going in I stop Ian, "What? What's wrong?" I point to the bleachers and see Mason and Cupcake having a conversation.

I put my hand on my heart and wipe away a fake tear, "My little girl is growing up. She's having her first conversation without me being involved." Ian looks at me and rolls his eyes.

He walks into the gym and I follow him, "Cupcake! I'm back! Ow! What the hell?! Who threw a shoe at me?!" I look at the cheerleaders and they all point at Lily, "I did because you're interrupting my practice!"

I glare at Lily as I walk up to Mason and Cupcake. I sit beside her and give her hug, "Ew. Shane, you stink and you're sweaty." I laugh and continue to hug her, "Shane, please let me go."

I kiss her forehead and let her go, "Do you like their cheering?" She looks at me and before she could say anything Mason beats her to it, "She was talking about how some of them are not that flexible and how some of them are not putting their all into it."

I look at Mason shock and at Cupcake. She looks up at me with her hazel eyes and I let out a fake cry, "Awe! My baby knows so much!" I say as I hug her, "Shane, you stink. Let me go."

I let her go and Mason starts laughing. "Now all you have to do is get Hazel to smile." I look at Mason and nod my head in agreement, "Friday night she will be smiling and laughing like there is no tomorrow."

Lily comes running up the bleachers and smiles at Cupcake, "Did you like the practice?" Cupcake looks up at Lily and nods her head, "Yeah I did. I would love to cheer on this team with you."

All of our eyes widen, "Ah! You're my best friend now! I love you! I love you! I love you!" Lily hugs Cupcake and my mouth drop, "How come she doesn't get push away?! She was sweating too!"

Lily pulls away from Cupcake and glare at me, "Because I'm more special than you." My mouth drop and I mumble under my breath.

Ian stands up and clears his throat, "Let's go ahead and leave." Lily jumps on my back, "Forward to the student parking lot." I roll my eyes and start walking towards the parking lot.

"Cupcake I'm driving you home. I'm not letting you walk home anymore." I look at Cupcake and she is talking to Mason about some cupcakes.

I've never seen someone who loves cupcakes so much. Her eyes tell you that she is smiling.

"Do you think she will show her smile through her lips and not her eyes?" Lily whispers in my ear, "She will. She can't hide her smile forever."

Lily giggles in my ear and Cupcake runs up beside me, "I want a cupcake." I look at her with wide eyes, "Not now, I know you and Mason were talking about them and that's why you want one all of sudden."

She looks at the ground and I let out a long sigh, "Just remind me tomorrow and I'll get you one." She looks at me and nods her head quickly.

I put Lily down and she walks over to Mason car, "Bye best friend! I'll see you tomorrow." Cupcake waves bye to Lily and Mason.

I look over at Ian and he is staring off in space. I was about to go over there to talk to him, but Cupcake stops me. "Let him think for a little bit longer."

I smile at her and get in the car, "Time to take my Cupcake home!" I speed out of the parking lot and Mason honks at me, "Slow the hell down!"

I honk back at him and laugh, "Nah I'm good!"
