What if....Max and Lucas celebrated Valentine's Day together? (Fluff and light Smut)

Happy Valentine's Day lovelies! Here's a gift to you all ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💖

******************

"Lucas almost ready?!"

"Yeah mom!" Lucas calls out, him putting his backpack over his back. He smiles as he grabs the orange present bag and the small little grocery bag as well. He goes to look in the mirror, taking a little shaky breath as he looks at his blue simple polo T shirt and black jeans and blue sneakers, him just shrugging his shoulders a little before he makes his way out of the room, going into the backseat with Erica while Charles and Sue are in the front.

"Looking dazzling Lucas." Sue says with a smile, looking at him through the rear view mirror while she drives.

"Mom stop." Lucas rolls his eyes, but a light smile being on his face. "But thanks. You don't think it's too much right?"

Charles laughs. "Man he is the same way when I got dressed nice for you."

"Yes he is." Sue smiles. "Don't worry Lucas Max is going to love it."

"Or she'll think you're ready to get sun burnt while playing a game of golf." Erica shrugs.

"Erica!"

"Just the facts!"

"You know Erica normally I would say something back but nothing is going to ruin my mood." Lucas says before looking ahead of him and smiling. "It's Valentines Day."

Ah yes...Valentines Day.

The day for love and appreciation of the significant other. Lucas never thought that he would be celebrating Valentines Day or get excited over it, but ever since Max has come into his life he has.

Especially all that has happened as well, with her almost dying, Lucas told himself that it will be no more closing up, doesn't matter how intense Max will be or stubborn she might be he doesn't care, he won't let himself become distanced from her ever again. He can tell she still struggles just a little, they haven't actually technically gotten together because...

Maybe Lucas has been to scared to pop the question.

But they act like a couple regardless, he holds her hand as they walk through the halls and she lets him. She leans on him, she lets him kiss her, hug her, touch her even but never to the main thing. He just fears that she would end up getting scared and say no and try and push him away again, and he doesn't want that. Despite his fears he tells himself he cannot hide behind his fears, so today after school when he goes over to Max's place he is going to ask her.

He's going to pop the question.

"You're such a nerd." Erica shakes her head with a eye roll, going back to look at her Nintendo.

"Erica you won't think so once you find a man you love." Sue says.

"Yeah I just rather be alone with my Nintendo here. Me and him, are all good." Erica states matter of factly.

"How can she find someone when she is the pure definition of Godzilla?" Lucas questions with a smile.

"And how do you technically have a girlfriend when you are to scared to ask her back out?"

"I'm waiting!"

"On what for you to grow a pair?"

"Erica!"

"Just the facts!"

"I don't need to listen to you." Lucas says while turning away.

"Wait you haven't asked Max out Lucas? I thought you both were doing well." Sue mentions.

"We are it's just...you know after everything I don't want to...pressure her or something you know?" Lucas says.

"That's considerate of you son but you both pretty much already act like a couple. I don't see the harm in asking." Charles shrugs.

"Yeah I'm going to ask her when I go over to her place." Lucas breaths a little in nervousness.

"Awww take pictures and make a video I wanna see!" Sue mentions excitedly.

"Mom I'm not doing that."

"Oh come on!"

"Mom!"

"Just a little video."

"Mom!"

"Alright." Sue gives in, her pulling up to the High School. "Have a good day Lucas, and good luck."

"Thanks mom! Bye love you guys!" Lucas says while getting out of the car.

"Love you too!"

"Love you too son!"

"Don't fail!"

Sue and Charles go to look at Erica with a 'really' expression, her just shrugging her shoulders before going back to her Nintendo.

"Hey Lucas!" Dustin waves, him and Mike going to walk besides Lucas down the hallway.

"Hey guys." Lucas greets.

"Hey you ready dude? How are you feeling?" Mike questions.

Lucas takes a little breath. "Little nervous."

"Don't worry you got this." Dustin says before they all stop. "There she is."

Lucas looks at Max, her being at her locker while she puts in a new tape in her tape player, closing it before she puts her headphones back on, her attaching the tape player to her dark blue jeans, her being dressed in tight fitted dark blue jeans and a simple black and white stripped shirt and a blue hoodie that is half way zipped, her hair being in a low ponytail and her wearing blue sneakers.

"Okay maybe instead of...ogling her you go and talk to her." Mike says.

"I'm not ogling." Lucas defends.

"Lucas you're...you're ogling buddy." Dustin pats his shoulder.

"What if she says no what if she hates the gifts?" Lucas questions in a light panic.

"Relax she's not." Mike shrugs.

"How do you know? El love's Valentine's Day." Lucas looks over at Mike.

Mike sighs a little. "Okay I don't know but...if Max didn't want to be with you Lucas then you all wouldn't be acting like a couple. I mean you guys are already practically together all you have to do is make it official. That's it." Mike shrugs.

"She cares for you dude. You being there for her during the whole...Vecna thing, she appreciated that." Dustin says.

Lucas nods his head, him looking back at Max who puts books in her bag. "Okay...wish me luck."

"Your wish is our command." Dustin salutes.

"You got this." Mike pats his shoulder.

Lucas takes a deep breath before he makes his way over to Max, her back being turned to him. He goes to stand to the side of her, him smiling tightly before tapping her shoulder. Max looks up at him, her going to take her headphones off and put them around her neck. "Hey Max."

"Hey stalker." She greets.

Lucas smiles at her, him rocking a little on his heels in nervousness. "Happy Valentine's Day."

Max raises her chin a little while raising her eyebrows at him. "Lucas you know I don't care for Valentines Day."

"No I know but..." Lucas trails off a little, her just raising her eyebrows more at him in question making him more nervous. "I know you don't like the rose pedals, the chocolates and the flowers but....I did get you something...you know if you want it."

Max still looks at him in response, her quirking a brow at him.

"I uhh..." he starts nervously while giving her the orange bag by the handles. "Got this first."

Max eyes him for a minute before she takes the bag, her going to take the orange paper out of it and looking in the bag. Lucas can see how her gaze softens a little, her looking up at Lucas. Lucas smiles, watching how Max takes out the orange tape player and headphones, different tapes of her favorite songs being in the bag as well.

"I know the one you have now just brings...memories." Lucas starts. "And you like orange and your music so....two and two."

Max looks up at him again. "Lucas you didn't have to." She shakes her head.

"I wanted to." Lucas says back immediately while looking at her.

Max's eyes soften a little, her lightly swallowing before she looks back down. "It's nice." She says before looking back up at him. "I like it."

Lucas smiles at her, watching how she takes the tape out of the other tape player and puts it in her new one. "Oh I can..." he says while coming closer to her to take off the tape player from her jeans and the headphones from around her neck. Max looks down a little, her still holding the tape player in her hand. "Sorry I..." he stammers out while taking a step back.

Max smiles up at him. "It's okay." She says before attaching the new tape player to her jeans, putting the headphones on her ears. "They're more soft against the ears."

Lucas smiles. "Yeah I wanted to make sure it was comfortable for you."

Max smiles at him, her nodding her head. "I guess that has earned you some points."

Lucas chuckles lightly, him holding the older tape recorder in his hand. "And I got you the candies you like." He says while giving her the small grocery bag. "Skittles, Twix and your gummy bears and gummy worms. Also a sandwich that you like without the ends with the lettuce tomato no onion I know you hate onions and with honey ham and two slices of cheese not just one, cut into squares and those potato chips you like."

Max smiles at him while looking down. "You know so much."

"Yeah." Lucas smiles. "Maybe we could....hang out this evening? I already asked your mom she said yes. I could bring something over, got my allowance."

Max smiles with a light laugh. "See you then."

Lucas smiles. "Walk you to class?"

"Yeah."

Lucas holds out his hand for her to take, her taking his hand and them beginning to walk through the halls, them making it to her class after a few minutes. "So umm...I'll be there around six? Six thirty?"

Max nods her head, her holding the strap of her backpack. "Six thirty."

"Six thirty." Lucas confirms, him nodding his head with a smile. "Okay." He says, him slowly going to her cheek and placing a soft kiss on her cheek.

Max moves her lips around with a light smile while she looks aimlessly down. She looks back up at Lucas, him seeing that soft gaze in her eyes again. She smiles at him, her hands going to his shoulders to wipe off his shirt a little. She goes to button one of his buttons, adjusting his collar a little before walking back. "See you later stalker." She says before going inside of her class.

Lucas smiles wide while looking down, his hands being in his pockets while he does. He looks at the classroom before he goes to walk off, him walking over to his class slowly, not caring if he is late or not since he hears the bell sound.

"Lucas you're late." The teacher mentions while looking at him when he stands in front of the door.

"Sorry." Lucas mentions simply, him going to sit at his desk next to Dustin and Mike, him going to put his backpack on the back of his chair while he takes out his books and notepad, putting it all on the desk.

"How'd it go man?" Mike whispers.

Lucas smiles, him looking over at Mike. "Great."

"See told you!" Dustin whispers at him. "Did you ask about the girlfriend thing?"

"I'm going to ask her tonight when I go over her place." Lucas whispers back.

"Alright let us know tomorrow how it goes." Mike says.

"I will." Lucas responds, all of them turning back to look at the teacher and what she is teaching. Lucas can't help but smile as he opens his book, him playing with his pencil in his hand. She seemed like she liked the gifts and the smile that crossed her face makes him smile even more. It makes him have more confidence on tonight, him taking a little breath while looking down with a smile.

Telling himself that it is now or never.

"Here you go." Max hands Susan the container of salad. "And I already put some water and some chips in your purse."

"Thank you sweetie." Susan says while putting the container in her purse, Max nodding with a light smile in response, her crossing her arms while looking aimlessly ahead of her. "What's wrong?"

"Huh?" Max questions, looking at Susan. "Nothings wrong."

Susan smiles softly at Max. "Max I raised you, birthed you, I know when something is wrong."

Max gives a little sigh in response. "It's Valentines Day."

"Yeah that's why Lucas is coming over."

"Yeah but..." Max trails off. "He's probably going to ask me to be his girlfriend."

Susan gives a look of confusion. "I thought...you guys were already..."

"It's...complicated." Max decides to say.

Susan smiles softly at Max. "Max I can clearly see that you care for him, then what's the problem?"

Max looks down a little, her crossing her arms. "Nothing I'm just being silly." She responds, looking over at the clock. "It's six fifteen you should probably go on and go before you are late."

"Yeah you're probably right." Susan says while going over to the door. "Have fun Max, and don't let yourself overthink."

"Okay." Max says simply, her going to close the door behind Susan. Max sighs a little while closing the door, her going to plop down on the couch.

She looks down a little, her telling herself to follow Susan's advice and not overthink but she can't help but overthink. She knows nine times out of ten Lucas is going to ask her to be his girlfriend, and despite how much she wants that...

She fears the unknown.

She looks up at the door when a knock is heard on it, seeing the clock read six thirty on the dot. Max shakes her head with a eye roll, her opening the door to reveal Lucas, him smiling at her while looking at her. "Thought you would be fashionably late."

Lucas chuckles, him being dressed in a fancy black shirt and black jeans and his white sneakers. "I got ready early."

Max smiles at him, her standing to the side as he makes his way inside of the house, her closing and locking the door. Lucas goes to put down the food on the table that he bought, him looking over at Max.

She goes to sit on the couch, her legs being tucked under her, her being dressed in a blue oversized sweater that comes to her mid thigh. She goes to take one of the boxes, opening it up to reveal her favorite pasta. She looks up at Lucas with a smile, them beginning to eat.

The silence is content but it is also nerve racking too, countless things run through the both of their minds, Max looking down while eating her pasta and Lucas glancing between his pasta and her while he eats.

"So Max..."

"Lucas..."

Both of them laugh lightly. "You can go first." Lucas says.

"No go on." Max says.

Lucas nods his head with a shaky breath, him going to put down his box and fork and close it. "Max I...I care about you, I love you and I'm not asking you to say it back when I tell you that but I want you to know that I do. I just....don't...see myself with...anyone else." He admits, Max playing with her fork a little. "I just really want us to...you know officially be together."

She knew it, she knew Lucas was going to ask this question and that is what makes her more nervous. She feels her heart beginning to beat more faster, her going to put down her box and her fork as well. "Lucas I....I don't know."

Lucas feels his heart beginning to beat more faster in response. "May I ask...why?"

Max nods her head. "It isn't you, it's me. I just....god Lucas you know my favorite way to make a sandwich my favorite food my favorite color my favorite music my favorite....everything. You're....you're a good man and....I don't want to loose that."

Lucas gives a look of confusion. "Max no, you're not going to loose me."

"You don't know that." Max shakes her head. "How about the times where I'm acting like a complete bitch it's bound to happen. What about the times where I'm in a sour mood Lucas these things they happen and....I don't want that to make us draw away."

Lucas holds out his hands for Max to take, her looking at his hands then back at him before she takes his hands. "Max there is nothing you can do to loose me. I don't want to loose you. It doesn't matter the hardships it doesn't matter, I want to be with you Max, I see no one else." He says before he scoots closer to her. "Max, I almost lost you, that hurt so much and I told myself I wouldn't be so...laxed anymore when it comes to you and your feelings. I promise you that I won't. I see you now, okay I see you."

Max smiles softly while looking down, her softly stroking his hand. She looks back up at him with a soft expression. "Even past the walls?"

Lucas scoots closer to her, his hand slowly going on her cheek while she looks at him. "I see you Max, I see you."

Max closes her eyes, her leaning her cheek on Lucas hand. She puts her hand on his, her eyes slowly opening to look back at him. "You promise?"

"Cross my heart, cross my soul Max. I promise you." Lucas tells her immediately. "Please don't push me away."

Max smiles at him, her nodding her head in response. "I'm sorry I'm like this I..."

"Max." He interrupts softly, stroking her cheek. "You have nothing to apologize for."

Max looks at him, her nodding her head again in response. She focuses more on his brown soft eyes, the soft eyes that always just reassure her and let her know that everything is okay, the soft eyes that always looks at her in this same loving expression that always makes her gaze soften, sometimes the gaze becoming so hard to look at because she sees how much he loves her.

And no one has ever loved her so much before, with the exception of her mother.

No one has ever looked at her this way, no one has ever treated her this way, no one has ever made her feel this way.

No one, absolutely no one....

But him.

"Then yes." She finally says. "Yes I want to be with you Lucas, I want to be your girlfriend."

Lucas smiles widely at her, her smiling from his contagious smile. She sees how he looks down a little while smiling, him nodding his head at her before looking up. "I promise I won't let you down Max."

"You never have Lucas." Max shakes her head.

"But with you and—"

"Lucas you have never let me down. The breakups and pushing you away was me, not you." Max admits. "You've been nothing but perfect towards me."

Lucas sighs a little. "I still felt like I should have done more."

"I didn't let you." Max responds simply. "But it's in the past, let's just leave it in the past, and move on."

Lucas nods his head at her while looking into her eyes, him just letting lost in them. "Okay."

Max smiles lightly at him, her just looking into his eyes as well. His look it just....does things, it has been doing things for awhile now and she doesn't know what the hell her body is thinking sometimes because of its reactions. Her skin itches for his touch, how sometimes he would rub her thigh while watching TV, how softly he used to kiss her. She hasn't felt that feeling in a long time.

And maybe she wants to.

"Max?" Lucas questions, seeing how the look on her face slowly begins to change.

Before Max lets herself overthink she goes on top of Lucas, going to straddle him. His eyes widen, his hands on either side of him on the couch. When Max makes the first move to kiss him his eyes widen even more, but slowly but surely his eyes begin to close, him beginning to kiss her back. He doesn't know whether to lead or to follow, but judging by how her lips move against his...

He must follow.

So he does, him letting his lips follow hers in the best way he can. He doesn't know where to rest his hands so he leaves them where they are, not wanting to pressure her or make her feel like he is trying to pressure her.

But Max has other plans, her going to guide his hands to the sides of her thighs, his hands immediately going to feel up and down her soft skin. Her hands are on his cheeks, the kiss going slow, loving and gentle. His lips are so soft, they are so full and so warm, loving the feeling that it brings to her.

When she pulls away her
