JAMES

Hanging up the phone, I mumble a few curse words when I feel a shoulder around me. "Hello, mate. Why the colorful language?" I turn to see Alec smirking at me, but he suddenly stops. "Don't tell me, is it the girl you've been talking to?"

"Maybe." I say as we walk together to the canteen.

"I knew it. You're smiling, so it has to be her."

We enter the canteen and walk to the table where the rest of the guys are sitting.

"Guuuys," Alec basically sings.

The others look up at us and greet us.

I'm starting to think that Alec, Vince, Nico, me and the other lads, Nathan, Ethan, and Bryson are going to become good friends. We have talked to some other guys at the school, but we seem to click more with them.

"What's up?" Bryson says.

"Adrianno, aka James here, might have a girlfriend soon," Alec says as we sit down.

"What?" Vincent asks taking a sip of his drink.

"Pardon me, but I think I heard wrong." Nico leans against the table. Lacing his hands together and putting them on top of the table.

"Is she from this school?" Ethan asks.

"Nope, you heard me right the first time. When I saw him he was speaking in a colorful manner, and get this, it's because of that girl he's been talking to. Our youngest one here is growing up." Alec fake cries.

I glare at Alec playful at the mention of me being the youngest one.

A few of the lads snicker in response.

"So do you like her? Bryson speaks up.

Shaking my head, I respond. "No, I don't like her. This dimwit here," I  punch him lightly on the arm."Is just assuming things."

"Please, I'm right. Just wait and see."

"Who is this girl?" Bryson asks, his food long forgotten.

"Oooh, here is the funny part. This boy doesn't even know who she is." Alec laughs.

"It's not that I don't know her, but when I first arrived here, I couldn't find my way home from Elven's park to my aunt's house. So I dialed the wrong number, but there was no response, so I sent a message. The stranger turned out to be a girl and at first, I told her to delete my number, but she just ignored me and continued texting. And so far, we're still talking. But there is nothing going on." I explain the story to the lads and they were listening intently.

"It's love." Alec blurts out causing a few of the guys to laugh.

I shake my head at his persistence and stand up, pulling him up as well by the elbow.

"We're going to get some food." I say to them before pulling Alec with me as well.

"You're crazy, mate." I tell him.

"I bet you're crazy for her." Alec says and my jaw drops.

Smacking him on the head, he groans.

"Adri," He gasps. "That hurt."

"Good!" I exclaim. "That was the goal."

Making our way through the canteen, I ask. "What are you eating?"

"Nathan told me to try the chefs are making Poutine, he says it's really good and that we might like it. So I think I'm probably going to get that." He tells me and I nod.

The both of us end up getting the Poutine dish, and since I saw the butter tarts my aunt told me about, I decided to get those as well, along with some sliced fruit.

So far, I've only tried a few Canadians dishes, but my aunt keeps cooking some Canadian dishes so that we learn what they are. And until now, the lads and I like them. But of course, we still make some British and Italian dishes.

After we are done, we walk back to the table and sit.

Before I start eating, my phone vibrates. Pulling it out I see a message from her.

New Message from Princess

12:00 p.m.

Jackson?

Smiling, I text back.

12:02 p.m.

Nope.

Keep trying, love.

12:03 p.m.

😭😭😪😪😪

"Omg, this is so good." I hear Alec moan in delight causing me to look up.

"What is?"

"The poutine." He points to the dish. "You have to try it, mate."

Nodding, I put my phone inside the pocket of my blazer.

I take my first bite as Alec keeps drowning in poutine.

My eyes widened at the taste. He is right, it tastes amazing. We continue eating until I'm done with my fruit, the only thing left is the butter tarts I got.

Trying it, I nod.

This is really good.

Grabbing the second one, I nudge Alec. He turns to me and I offer the tart to him.

"What is it?" He asks while proceeding to grab it.

"Aunt Evelyn said it's called a butter tart. But it's pretty good."

Alec takes a bite out of it and inhales. When he's done eating it, he turns to me with sad eyes. "Adri, I don't want to leave Canada." He whines and I laugh.

"We just got here not too long ago." I frown.

"I know, but I don't want to leave." He says sadly.

"Should I tell Mrs. Edwards that you want to leave her?" I smirk.

His eyes grow wide and gasps. "Oh shit, not my mom! Shhh, you can't say anything. She'll hang me." He begs. "Wait a second, how dare you? You would betray me like that?"

"It's okay mate, it's okay. Mrs. Edwards doesn't have to know anything, yet." I laugh while I pat him on the back.

Soon we are all done with our food and leave the canteen. Since we still had some time left, we decide to go to the American football field.

"Do you guys play any sports?" Nathan asks as we walk through the football field, not many students are out.

"I was a swimmer and football player back in London," I say looking around the field.

"Same. I did swimming as well." I hear Vincent say.

"And you guys?" Ethan nods to Alec and Nico.

"I did track and footy." Answers Nico.

"My sport was Tennis." Says Alec.

"We have all the sports you've mentioned, in case you want to try out.  And most of them start at different seasons, so it's possible to do two to three different sports. We have more sports and of course, football. Tryouts will be in a few days and they usually take place in the same week." Bryson explains.

"What about you guys? Do you play any sports?" I ask them.

"I play football, well, you guys call it American football, but yeah, that's what I play And swimming.

"I do basketball and soccer, um, footy." Ethan says

"Football, right, uh, American football and track."

Vincent and Nico laugh at the boys.

"You guys don't have to keep calling it American football, you can just say football. We know what you guys mean. Same with soccer, by the way. Feel free to call it soccer. But thanks for the effort, that's kind of you." Alec tells them.

"Oh thank god, I was starting to get confuse with my own words." Says Bryson sighing in relief.

"Thanks for telling us about tryouts. We'll keep it in mind." I say just as the bell rings.

"It's time to go, bye guys, I have my German class next." Ethan waves at us before running to another direction.

The rest of us walk back together, but we separate on our way to the lockers. The only one with me is Nathan as we head to the gymnasium for Physical Education. Since we have to wear a different uniform for this class, we head into the locker room.

Once we are done, the gym is filled with students waiting for instructions. From another room, Coach Carson steps out, blowing his whistle.

"Alright students, we're heading out to the track field. So start walking." As he says this, the students disperse slowly.

By the time we all get there, the coach starts giving instructions. We have to run six laps around the whole track field under a certain amount of time.

As I'm running, I hear a pair of footsteps approaching me. To my right, Nathan is next to me.

"Hey," He pants. "You run fast." He says.

"I did track for a while with Nico, and I like to run in general," I tell him.

"That explains the muscles," He nods to me. "You know, you should try out for the football team. I think you would be a good candidate. Especially since you have a big physique with your muscles. So not only do you have strength, but you also excel at running. Give it a thought." He says smiling to me.

"I might take you up on that offer," I say as I continue running.

After P.E., the rest of the school day seemed to have passed rapidly. And eventually, I find myself in my room.

I lay on my bed with Theo next to me as I'm texting on my phone.

Just as I'm sending a message, I get an incoming call from her.

"Jacob?" Is the first thing I hear when I answer the phone.

"Well hello to you too." I place an arm under my head as I get comfortable.

"Nooo, no greetings yet. Am I wrong or am I right?" I roll my eyes at her persistence, but nevertheless, I answer.

"Wrong."

"Ugh." I hear her whine.

"Why do you want to know my name so bad?" I ask her.

"Because I want to put a name to the voice of my future husband." She answers.

"You mean Shrek?" I stifle a laugh.

"Omg, nooo! Not him." She grunts.

"Who else did princess Fiona marry?" I ask.

"You, dummy. You! You're my future husband!" She exclaims.

As she does this, I realise that I don't know her name either.

"Why don't you tell me your name?" I ask, suddenly curious about her name.

"What? My name? Umm, I- I can't." She answers quietly.

I frown at the sudden change of mood and make a move to sit on the bed. Theo opens his eyes at the commotion, but once I'm settled he goes back to sleep.

"What? Why?"

"Because... because it's a secret. I would have to kill you if I told you." She answers in a better tone.

Despite her efforts to cover it up. I noticed it.

But what's so wrong about her name that she won't tell me?

"Hmmm, I'm sure. I guess you will just have to continue guessing until you get the right name." I say trying to make her feel better.

"I know, and it sucks." She whisper-yells.

We keep talking for a while until I no longer hear anything.

"Princess?" I call out. But I hear nothing.

Trying again, I say, "Sweetheart, are you still there?"

She must have fallen asleep, after all, she kept yawning a lot.

Ending the call, I place my phone aside thinking about her.

She fell asleep while talking to me, how cute.

But at the back of my mind, I kept wondering about the way she reacted when I asked her about her name.

But why?

Why did she react like that?

Greetings from Narnia.

This is so random but listen, guys, prince Caspian is so cute. *cries internally*🥰🥰

By the way,  when James, Vincent, Nico, and Alec are saying footy or football, to them that is soccer. Since they are British, football or footy is the one where you kick the ball. But American football is the one where you throw the ball

And of course, when Nathan, Ethan, and Bryson say football, they mean the one where you throw the ball.

Now French Canadians call soccer, football. But for the sake of confusion let's just say that Nathan, Bryson, and Ethan are talking about American football.

I really do hope this makes sense.

If it doesn't, please don't hate me and my sucky explanation. *clasps hands together in hope to be forgiven* 😔😔

Okay, I'm done talking now because I'm sleepy.

Stay beautiful, my babies.
