Chapter 28

The day went by so fast. I couldn't walk very well so I stayed in bed most of the day, just thinking. Lauren brought me food and offered to change my bandages. The cut on my hand looked better and she said my back did as well.

Apart from that, my day was extremely boring. There wasn't much conversation flowing, everyone was in such a bad mood.

But everything changed when I walked over to the window...

I wanted to practice walking with my crutches, so I limped over to the window to watch the sunset. It was a rich orange colour and quite pretty. But then something else caught my attention.

Suddenly the courtyard gate collapsed onto the floor, crashing against the concrete. It made such a loud thud that everyone looked up at me. "Bella what's going on out there?"

I stood frozen. "Oh my god," I whispered. I was terrified. Everyone rushed over to look out the window. "They've broken the door down! They're coming!" I screamed.

"What do we do?" Faye cried.

"If we stay here we're stranded," Bradley said.

"We can't leave? Surely that's way too dangerous," Tom said.

"We need to hurry, they're coming!" I shrieked. Everyone started panicking.

"How do we get out? Where do we go?" Tom asked frantically.

"Oh my god, we're gonna die, we're not gonna make it," Faye said, hyperventilating.

"Guys there's an exit in the English block, it leads to a car park," Lewis shouted, over everyone panicking. I thought he had already gone.

"Everyone grab your things, we need to get out!" Bradley ordered.

"We'll help you Bella, okay?" Faye and Lauren chorused.

"I'll slow you down!" I said, worriedly, "I can use my crutches, I'll be fine," they looked at me unsure, but listened and helped get our belongings together.

"Someone grab medicine from the office - NOW!" Bradley shouted. Josh shot down the stairs. Everyone followed. I stayed at the back, using all my strength to hurry down the staircase. Tom looked out the door window and saw all the zombies coming our way.

"Okay, we need to run to the English block. Everyone grab a weapon, we need to hurry," Tom said. I felt sick, it was getting dark and we needed to face all the corpses. I was worried for all our safety, I didn't want my broken leg to slow everyone down.
