So, whether you care about it or not, we live in an improbable cosmos. You sit amongst a barely imaginable galaxy of one hundred million stars that is named the Milky Way. An inconceivably greater group of these galaxies is termed a galaxy cluster. Further out, an impossibly vast chain of galaxy clusters is designated a supercluster. And our very own supercluster home is scientifically labelled Laniakea, which is ancient Hawaiian for immeasurable heaven. It contains one hundred thousand galaxies like ours, and at the epicentre of our supercluster sits the shapeshifting Great Attractor governing everything, including space and time, and the politically incompetent Republic of The Galactic Core. So yes, all very National Geographic, but could you blame this Great Attractor for your lot? Or could you blame Darwin and his evolution theory, but it turns out he's been wrong all the time. Or could you blame your parents and your past? Well, in the 1980s it was a time of similar nuclear rhetoric, yet back then there were no flat whites, mobile phones, social media, nor internet. EXCEPT for a very special few.
