152 - Introduction
I recently turned 40. Block 152 is where my journey began.I am sitting at my desk in Venice, Italy writing this. I live here now. I was born in Singapore as were my parents. My grandparents came to Singapore from India and Malaysia. I don't know much more about my roots. We lived simply. We worked hard. I remember my childhood home vividly. Spaces and objects hold memories. The homes, rooms and everyday objects we interact with can begin to symbolise significant events and life lessons. I do not think of myself as a particularly nostalgic person but I often find objects that I have pinned many experiences to, these objects have been seared in my memory.I have a collection of short films in my mind that if I allow myself, I can not only play in my mind but I can transport myself through time and space to relive those events through more mature eyes.This is my effort to find a place to put those films, spaces and objects in a cohesive manner that not only documents my past in some way but perhaps it may serve as a portal through which another may visit and draw similar parallels to their own lives and pinned objects on their board of life. I am looking to create a depository of sorts, a library of my mind, my past. On a deeper level, it's something that I think we all share as people, a past. a childhood, places, objects and stories.Is there a place you often dream of?
