It was quiet.

I can't hear any more screams nor any of our surviving class in the grassy plain. I worried about Big K and Minxie most, where they were and if they were safe and, most importantly, alive.

I still held onto Rhonda doing my best to comfort her, for her to morn over the loss of her lover, Scotty. Even though he was a jerk I believed that he was, in some part, good and caring. She stopped crying for a while now but still clung onto me, I think it was to reassure herself that she was still sane.

At this point, I'm surprised none of us jumped the cliff to insanity yet.

Though I fear some of us are on the very edge.

The remainder of us sat in the field to recollect ourselves and think of different strategies to get back home. Finally, Rhonda let go so that she could sit on her own; I looked down at my camera's damage, with a cracked lens, focus lens off and data port jammed... I would be surprised that any of the photos made it; a sigh of anxiety escaped my lips, all I wanted was to go home and forget this night completely.

I felt a nudge at my side, noticing now that Izzy took a seat next to me and an arm wrapped around my shoulders, he looked down at my camera too and merely shrugged his shoulders. "I wouldn't worry about that Nat," he reassured me, I only furrowed my brows tightly; wasn't he worried about the pictures, not only that but dad is going to KILL me for what the outcome has become of my camera, my baby.

He merely chuckled as he reached into something in his pocket and placed it into the palm of my hand; it was the glock of film from the camera. My mouth hung to the floor and eyes grew wide, "how in the hell did you have the time to get this?!" I gaped, and I could tell that by my surprised expression he was reveling and very much enjoying my reaction.

"While you were passed out. Kind of figured you'd be needing those for, ya know...." he rambled on and on while scratching the back of his neck, did he not care about the yearbook club or even the school paper? I thought, he merely stood up to stretch as his gaze never left the night sky. If this was any normal date I would've thought he was star gazing; but, right now, I think he's on the look out for the creeper.

Wait did I just say date?! HUH??? Why did I think that?!

"I'm gonna scout out and look for another way outta here," Izzy announced. Both Rhonda and Kimball sat on the ground as their heads scanned the skies, "you sure that's a good idea?" Rhonda asked, her eyes not leaving the stars and her determination depleting fast. With Scotty gone, she was alone and the void in her heart only grew with the last memory she has of him and his death. "It's our only option," I agreed as I stood, leaving my camera on the ground for its final rest. It was far too damaged for fixing, it would've been cheaper to buy a new one rather have someone fix it.

"you sure city girl? think you can handle the walk?" Izzy teased, only to make the sarcasm fair I gasped and drew my hands close to my chest, "why sir! don't you know to never EVER underestimate a city girl when you see one? Hell we're big surprises in such a small package!" I commented ending the sentence with my hands at my hips. He chuckled at my use of sarcasm and use of drama before standing side by side and began our journey.

^^^Izzy's POV^^^

I don't know what Scotty was talking about when finding a farm out here, other than it being abandoned these houses along the road are all empty... It's like a freakin' ghost town.

My pace was starting to slow, but, Natalie, she's still walking a fast pace on the road. I smiled as she continues to walk, "you better not be staring at my butt" she scolds, I wasn't at first, but now I can't help but look at her cute perfect butt. She turns around with her arms crossed her chest and her lips in a cute pout. "Hey your the one to bring it up not me," I retort with my hands up in surrender.

From the first time I saw her walk in class last week I was smitten, she had me wrapped around her finger. I guess you can call it love at first sight; I never believed in that bull crap before and never thought anyone in the school would go for me, but, with her, it was different. She didn't believe in those stupid rumors, she would tell when it would bother me and not bring up the subject again.

Truth be told I was sneaking in the bar when I got this scar, it was with my ex-girlfriend. I saw her drunk off of her ass and lip locking with some way older biker dude!

Talk about gross!

We broke up that night and with no way back home I tried hot wiring a car to go my way and only to make the bullshit worse, she blamed me and have her new boy-toy beat me until all that was left was this scar on my cheek.

I haven't told Natalie yet.

Would she still like me, if she didn't already, if I told her?

^^^Natalie's POV^^^

After walking for what felt like hours we finally spot something, a crashed car in the trunk of the tree. "YES!" I exclaim as I run towards the metal contraption. Izzy following close behind I bang my hands on the hood of the truck, apart from the top of the roof being pulled up slightly this baby still had juice.

"I think I can hot wire this thing to work..." Izzy wheezes as he makes it around to the drivers side, I plop myself in the passengers side resting my now aching feet. "Are you sure?" I asked while rubbing my feet slightly through my converse. He only nodded and got straight to it.

"It's how I got these you know," he broke the momentary silence as he prepared the wires. "Huh?" I asked, at first not getting what he was talking about, "this scar.... that's how I got it... hot wiring a car." he repeated, pointing at the scar on his temple and cheek.

I knew that there was more to the story though, "hey, don't worry about it Izzy... In all honesty, the scar adds more charm to you," I said while hiding under my hair to not let him see my blush. There was more silence that followed before I felt the cushioning beside me dip slightly and a hand grazing my cheek before lifted to his gaze. At first I thought he was going to kiss me again, only for our foreheads to rest on each other and his hand to tangle our fingers together.

"you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that city girl," he whispered, placing a small peck on the tip of my nose. His gaze shifts to the mark on my neck and a look of anger and sadness takes over his expression, "does it hurt?" he asks, ghosting his fingers along the very surface of the black and purple mark. I only nodded and smiled up at him. He smiles back and shrugs off his jacket, just to put it over my shoulders; I was going to give it back but he only buttons it up on my tiny form, "He may be trying to find your scent so while I go get the others you stay here and hide, my scent will be covering yours so he won't get another whiff," he told me. I nodded once more and rest my head on the head rest of the car, the sudden urge to sleep took over.
