Chapter 10

I can't believe it's already chapter 10.

"Evan" he exclaimed. His head was tilted downwards so he was looking up with his wide blue eyes. They had so much Innocence in them. So much purity, even though his leather pants weren't helping with the whole "innocent look". He was a bad boy on the outside, but it's just the looks. The Zac that I met at the clothing store was a complete angel. Aside from the fact that he pushed me against the shelves only five minutes after I entered.

I turned back around. I didn't want to talk to him. I knew this was a small town and all, but to be in the same class, in the same damn class and right in front of each other is just a cruel joke.

He poked me but it wasn't with his finger. It was something hard. A pen. I didn't turn around. Then the pen was floating right next to my ear.

I took it. I needed a pen.

He didn't get a chance to say anything else because it was time to start the process of learning and perceiving useless information to pass exams that are not, in any way, useful in practical life. Some people call it school.

The teacher was a man, Mr. Cliff. Late 30's. He was dressed casually and had a jacket on. I wished I put on a jacket. It was really cold for September.

This town's weather was like England's. It was cold in the midst of the summer and it keeps getting colder and colder. I didn't even wanna think about how would it be when winter arrived.

I was shivering slightly but it was good since it wasn't a noticeable shiver. Just one of those shivers where you're not cold but cold air seeps into your body from your neck.

Halfway through class, I stopped paying attention. History didn't interest me much. I was just doodling to stop thinking about stuff.

I adjusted the collar so it limits the cold air attacking it but it wasn't working. I felt something on my shoulder but I was sitting close to the teacher so he would see me if I turned around. I didn't want to be called out by a teacher first day and first class.

When Zac's hands were pulled away from my neck and shoulders, I realized he placed his scarf around it. I instinctively touched it and I be damned if I didn't say that my heart didn't skip a beat. My inner fanboy was squealing but on the outside I was calm. I smiled and took a breath. It smelled like his cologne. I'm not good at describing smells, but it was something musky.

A few moments later and a crumpled paper lands on my desk. I opened it and it said:

       Can we talk? Please?

I was weak. A part of me didn't want to respond. The other part screamed 'YES'.

         Yes,  my locker is 23B.

I crumpled it and handed it back from under my seat. Our hands slightly touched. His hand was warm against my cold one.

I didn't have to wait long for the paper to land again on my desk.

Ok I have to talk to Mr.Cliff
after class, wait for me there

I wrote that I'll wait for 5 minutes tops because I had to look for my second class. I was passing it to Zac when the teacher 'Ahem'ed.

I froze. What I feared was gonna happen.

"There's no texting in class Mr.Hyde. Put your phone away or I'll put it away myself." Mr Cliff warned. I sighed audibly. Crisis averted.

Zac didn't throw the note with his reply on because Mr Cliff was sneaking glances our way because of that Hyde kid. He handed me it. When our hands brushed, he held it. He held it and squeezed it a bit and rubbed it a little with his fingers so it warm up a little.

        I only need 2 mins

When the bell struck, Mr Cliff told us to remain seated.

"You have to prepare a paper about the Industrial revolution and its impacts. You'll do it in pairs, however you are not to choose partners. Your partners will be the ones sitting behind you."

"There's a wall behind me" a guy sitting at the last seat said. The class laughed while Mr Cliff face palmed.

"Mr Hoods you're the partner of the person sitting in front of you. You are their behind" we laughed harder.

I fortunately wasn't someone's behind, but unfortunately Zac was the one sitting behind me. I didn't know if I was happy about it or not.

As I promised, I was waiting at my locker. I took out my English book and as it turned out, my class was on the second floor.

"So I guess we're partners" I jumped and hit my head against the inside of my locker.

"YOU DO NOT CREEP OUT ON PEOPLE LIKE THAT"

He laughed.

"Sorry"

"It's alright" I closed my locker and waited for him to speak, which wasn't long.

"Is there any reason you had been ignoring me the whole summer? I mean did I do something wrong?"
He sounded genuinely concerned. I felt my bitchy side rising.

"Oh no you didn't. Just stood me up the very first time and didn't bother to even text or call"

"What do you mean? I texted you"

"Rue texted me. You didn't even type it yourself" I spat out.

"I had my reasons. Trust me I didn't want to miss it for the world, but I really had a reason"

"What was it?"

"Just trust that I do? Please?"

I didn't answer. He started getting closer.

"Please?"

And closer.

"Please"

And closer.

My back was against the locker and his hands were on both sides of my head. His face was dangerously close to mine.

"Please" he whispered against my lips. I felt his breath against them.  My whole body shivered and this time it wasn't from cold.

I couldn't speak. I just nodded and slipped from under his arm and started towards the stairs. I didn't look back to see if he was following me. I didn't need to because he was right by my side.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm walking you to class"

"You don't know what class I have"

"English"

Lucky ass. "Well you don't know which English class I'm in"

"Room 206. Mrs Greene."

"Ok that's creepy. How do you know that?"

"It's a small school" was the only thing he said.

"What about your class? Don't you have somewhere to attend?"

"Oh we're in the same class"

"Ok seriously? That's really creepy.  On a scale from 0 to 100 you're Edward Cullen" he simply shrugged. I looked at my seating chart and it was the same as first class but one seat forward. I took my seat and started to put out my things. Zac took the seat behind me.

"Okay this can't be. It's not possible" he didn't say anything. He pulled out his schedule and shoved it in my face. It was almost a replica of mine but the seats where behind mine. All of them.

I sighed and turned away. I was feeling the texture of the scarf. It was really smooth.

"Morning guys!!" a voice from my right said. It was Rue. I bumped my head to the desk. She was here too. She was different though. Her hair wasn't the flashy pink anymore. It was blue. Not a blue as Zac's eyes. A different blue. Zac's were the blue of the sky mixed with the blue of an ice cold sea. The blue that forms on the tip of a wave right under the white foam. Rue's hair was a monotonic blue. It was pretty though, it suited her.

Zac

First day of school always sucks. But not this time. This day I was going to see Evan. I mean he had to go to the same school as me right? There's only one school in this town.

Spoiler alert: He does go to the same school. How did I know you may ask? I might have went to the school last week. Rue's mom is our vice principal and is responsible for assigning our schedules and seating charts.

I "coincidentally" ended up having the same schedule and the seat right behind Evan in every other class. Did I have regrets? No.

And scene. Short chap but I'm tired. Next one is really interesting but it's gonna take a little longer to upload because I think I'm gonna do 2 chapters in one. Like instead of having a 1500 words chapter, it's gonna be around 3000 words. Thanks for reading. Your votes and comments mean so much.
