Chapter Two
A small thankyou gift

× SAHIL ×

Are you ever afraid of making a mistake and ruining something perfect?

Well I am. I mean if a small mistake can ruin something really good, then the mistake wasn't small.

I know we all make mistakes but some mistakes are unintentional and some mistakes are because of the fear, of not being perfect?

My whole life I was taught to be perfect. Not taught, but I was expected to be best, to do the best. And when I did something bad, the disappointed eyes of my parents would haunt me. The look that they didn't expect this, atleast from me.

My younger brother, Vivian on the other hand is the careless one. The first person in his top five is him. I'm not saying that's incorrect or wrong but I just don't know how to not care.

Sliding this thoughts aside, I noticed my phone ringing and the name along with a smile on my face appeared. The only one who can lift my mood very easily.

Natasha.

My girlfriend.

We met a few years back through some comman friends. We got pretty close with each other, and she was the one who would actually try to understand me and not expect me to become perfect. We caught feelings after a while and then decided to give us a shot. And now we are, in a relationship from a year.

" Helloooo  " Her cheerful voice reached my ears giving me some sort of peace. She has this thing of exaggerating the last letter of any sentence she speaks.

" Hey " I spoke and my voice exactly opposite as hers, tired.

" What are you doinggg? "

" Nothing much, actually nothing at all. Just getting bored while Vivian is all excited for our trip" I said.

We actually came here just to relax, like as a break from the daily life. Our parents are busy attending a wedding which clashed with the date of our trip, so they let us go. Which is also because this adamant brother of mine was not ready to cancel the plan once made.

" Vivian knows how to enjoy, unlike you my boring person " she said and I rolled my eyes, though she can't see me rolling them.

" I know how to enjoy just my ways are different " I corrected her.

" I know, I know. You're different for others. "

" Definately "

While passing through the hall, I noticed the receptionist and a girl arguing. The girl was wearing a dark blue kurti along with jeans. And then I realised it was the same girl with whom I bumped into, earlier.

I was on a call with Ma so I didn't notice her face but her kurti was pretty good. It was similar to the one Natasha once wore.

" Natasha, uh, I'll call you back in a few minutes? Haan?  There is something happening in this hotel. " I said and went in their direction.

(Yes?)

" What do you mean by something? " She asked.

" I don't know, some sort of fight I guess. " I told her.

" Oh okie, enjoy the drama and don't forget to tell me later " she said and I chuckled.

" Yes ma'am " I said and waited till she hang the call.

She loved drama a lot, but only when it wasn't hers.

A lot of people were gathered around enjoying the drama but none ready to stop them.

" I don't know anything, lend me a new room. "  The girl said and frustration was clearly reflecting on her face.

" Ma'am, how many times should I tell you there is no vacant room. Why would I waste my time on you if there was any? " The receptionist said with somehow rude yet professional tone.

" What happened? " I interrupted them wanting to clear this mess.
The girl's head shot towards me quickly and I noticed some kind of shock reaction visible on her face.

" This lady here wants a new room because she noticed a spider in her room " The receptionist told me and the girl gave him a furious look.

" Oh my myatleast tell him everything. Firstly the taps of the washroom aren't in a working condition, secondly there was a spider and web in the washroom which I would have very well ignored if I wasn't allergic to anything related with spiders. And thirdly,  I didn't ask him for a new room but atleast it's thier responsibility to arrange for an alternative room if something like this happens. " She spoke as if she will never get a chance to speak again if she stopped.

" I'll even exchange rooms but why would someone compromise and waste thier money when they are not at fault. The one who should compromise should be the one who is at fault " she continued and by the last line she threw a nasty look to the receptionist.

" But I already told her there is no empty/vacant/unoccupied/ available/free room. Still she is bent on fighting with me " the receptionist said while rolling his eyes.

The tone which he used was pretty rude.

" I am not fighting, okay?  This is called arguing. Fighting par baat aati toh aabh tak khade thodi na rehte aap. " she said and rolled her eyes exactly in same way the guy did.
(If I was fighting then you wouldn't be standing here)

" I'll arrange a room for her, it's fine. Now stop this " I told them.

" But how will you? " They both asked at the same time and gave each other a look.

" My brother and I are staying in two different rooms, I'll shift in his room, and Miss, you can take mine. " I said and the girl looked a little relaxed finally.

We booked two rooms, one for mom-dad and one for me and Vivian. But as they cancelled last minute, I and Vivian took separate rooms. It looks like we are destined to stay together in one room.

" Thankyou so much sir, aajkal aapde jaise bhale log kaam milte h, ladai-jagde wale zyada. " The Receptionist thanked me while indirectly taunting the girl and I nodded.
(Now-a-days good people like you are rare, People who are interested in fights are more)

" You should also be more attentive on these small things if you are managing a hotel. Arguing and taunting won't really be of any good if you're the one at fault " I said to the receptionist in a cold voice.

" Sorry, Sir " he muttered.

" I don't need this apology. The one who deserves it is her. Apologise to her, not me. And also learn how to speak to a woman. " I said. I was utterly disappointed in men like these who do not watch their tone while speaking with any lady.

" Sorry ma'am. I'll ask a worker to shift your bags into his room." he said and she nodded.

I didn't fail to notice a confused look on her face but her eyes shining a little as if she was deeply thinking something. But she shrugged it and shook her head and started walking with me.

" However I'll make sure to give this hotel some really good ratings and some best reviews " She turned back and told the receptionist, it wasn't hard to point out the sarcasm.

I directed her to my room while she followed me like a lost puppy.

" Let me just take my stuff and here are the keys " I told her while handing the keys. She just gave a quick nod.

I went inside the room and arranged my every belonging and went outside after a few minutes.

" Here, I'm done "

" Okay " she muttered and went inside the room.

She didn't even thank me. Nevermind.

I was about to walk away when she stopped me " uh wait "

She reached out for something in her pocket and it was a small choclate.

" Thankyou for the room. I don't have anything but this to give you. If you want.. " she said and forward her hand with the chocolate.

" It's alright, you don't need to give me anything. " I replied.

" But I would love to. I'll be happy if you accept this " she said and I took those chocolates with a soft smile.

" Good night " I said and she replied the same.
