"Here's your drink, sir!" I smiled brightly while bringing the young Kassk his requested beverage. His long yellow fingers extended and took hold of the glass; nodding in thanks, before downing the entire neon-orange drink without taking a breath.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  This was common at the barโ€” The Slumberous Nexu. I was a manager, but half the time, my employees never show up, so I have to serve tables and get drinks instead of my actual job. The owner, a Snivvian by the name of Rask'l, helped me throughout the turnovers, which made my work experience much easier,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "Mind looking to hire a cook?" Rask'l questioned while scooping through the cash register, "I think Randle is going to quit soon."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "Why do you think that?" I asked while sitting down on the bench in front of the order counter, leaning my head into my hand, "I thought he liked his job?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Randle was a Besalisk, and a mean one at that. I wouldn't say I blamed him though. If I had an opportunity to get off this rock and live to be something better than a manager at a disgusting, second-rate bar in the middle of the outer rim.

I then returned to making drinks for customers. Zoning out was easy enough when one is mixing drinksโ€” it's become second nature to me.

While mixing a complicated cocktail, the front doors to the establishment opened and closed rapidly. Poking my head around the corner, a man in green and white Mandalorian armor strutted in, peering around,

"Take a seat wherever you'd like, hon!" I yelled towards him, "I'll be with your shortly!"

I could feel his eyes on me even without seeing them. That helmet could only conceal so much, especially after being in this business for so long. He wanted something... information perhaps.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Strolling over after finishing the drinks, I plopped down in the seat in front of the man and smirked, "Whatcha need, stranger?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  He didn't reply. His actions spoke for themselves. The bounty hunter revealed a bounty puck from within his pocket; my face floating and spinning slowly, shaded in an ominous blue, "I recommend you come quietly," he whispered, "Wouldn't want to get your floors too messy, hmm?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  I felt nauseous. What have I been accused of? Why was there a bounty on my head? I couldn't pinpoint the answerโ€” I've never done anything illegal in my life. Of course I have given away free drinks occasionally, but never enough to earn a bounty worth 14,000 credits,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "May I ask why I have a bounty on my head first?" I croaked out, suddenly losing my charismatic attitude.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  The unnamed bounty hunter whipped out a pair of cuffs, and motioned for me to rise from my seat, which I obliged quietly. The cold metal around my wrists just sent me into a downwards spiral,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "I never ask questions while on the job," he commented, yanking me towards the door.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  All the customers and employees' eyes were locked on me, but there were no words exchanged. It hurt the most that Rask'l didn't even question it. I've worked with him for half my life, and not even a word about my apparent arrest,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "Do you think this could maybe be a mistake?" I whispered, walking in synch with the bounty hunter, "I've never even left Abafar once in my lifetime."

Abafar was the least populated planet in the galaxy, not counting the uninhabited planets. Many travelers nicknamed my home planet 'The Void,' because of its endlessness, and lack of life. I'm surprised this bounty hunter could even locate me,

"As long as I get my credits, I couldn't care less if you're innocent or guiltyโ€” doesn't matter one bit," the man snapped, obviously getting annoyed with my voice of reasoning.

That fact alone made me nervous. This man is obviously a stone-cold killer, and when you combine that with credits, it's just better to stay silent. I would definitely prefer to be taken in alive, because maybe I can plead my case.

The man's ship was impressive. It was parked a bit away from my bar, but close enough to where I wasn't worn out when we arrived. A Trandoshan was awaiting our arrival, obviously another bounty hunter,

"Did she give you any trouble, Boba?" the lizard asked with a low hiss in his voice, "She doesn't look like she'd be much trouble."

Shoving me forward, 'Boba' just shook his head, "It was painfully easy, Bossk. No one even batted an eye."

The Trandoshan made a noise of approval, pushing me painfully onto the ship. Looking back to Boba, I noticed he was getting the ship ready for takeoff. This was really happening. I will never see my family, my friends, or my restaurant again. That thought alone made tears begin to spill. My future was completely ruined because of a misunderstanding,

"Why you crying, girl?" 'Bossk' asked while securing me into a chair that was located in the cockpit, "All criminals have this coming. You shouldn't be surprised."

Looking up into the lizard's eyes, I shook my head tiredly, "I don't know what I did, sir. I work 9 hour shifts every day to provide for my family. I've never even left this planet. I've had no time to commit a crime that would attract bounty hunters," I sniffled sadly, "I just want closure. I know I didn't do anything wrong."

As those words slipped from my lips, the ship took off. Boba must've snuck into the pilot's seat while Bossk and I were discussing my arrest.

"Do you have her puck?" Bossk asked while sitting beside Boba, "I normally don't give a shit if they're innocent or guilty, but this is a child we're talking about."

Boba shook his head in annoyance while handing the puck over to his partner, "I was just a kid when I lost my dadโ€” my everything. In this line of work, you can't afford sympathy, no matter the circumstances."

"I lost my dad too," I muttered out, "A Jedi by the name of Mace Windu just let him die while he was out in the field, serving the Republic as a medic. He didn't even try to save him."

Boba spun around in the pilot seat to face me. I could almost see the gears turning in his brain,

"That's the man that took my father away from me as well," he replied, choosing his words carefully, "It's unfortunate. If your bounty wasn't so high, I may rethink about turning you in. Anyone wronged by Mace is a friend to me."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  I don't know what Boba meant by that, but I immediately felt a connection grow between us. Two strangers that had such an ominous connection. Staying silent, I watched Bossk scan through my bounty puck, interested in his opinion on me,

"Boba, I hate to be the voice of reason here, but Ziro the Hutt wants her," the lizard chimes in, putting emphasis on the Hutt's name, causing my heart to jump into my throat, "Remember what happened to the last girl we brought to him?"

I have never once in my life met a Hutt, or had any reason to provoke one enough to earn a bounty. Boba removed his helmet at that comment; jumping into hyperspace and rubbing the accumulating sweat from his brow, "How could I forget," he whispered sympathetically, "But he's a Hutt. We can't ignore the Hutts."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "Why does he want me?" my voice cracked painfully. I know what Hutts do to women... well, anyone they can get their slimy fingers on. I'll be sold into slavery and forgottenโ€” leaving my family to fend for themselves, and ponder why I abandoned them, "How did he learn about my existence anyways?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  The Trandoshan clicked the puck off and slipped it into his back pocket, "It's hard to tell. Don't dwell on the future. Think about your family for the remainder of your freedomโ€” that's the only advice I can give you."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "Why are you even attempting to be nice to me if you're only going to give me up regardless?" I snapped, getting annoyed by Boba's silence. For some reason, his lack of words was louder than any of the lizards attempted words of encouragement, which honestly at this point was getting tedious, "I will give you guys all I have, just please, don't take me away from my familyโ€” I'm all they have."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Yet again, the bounty hunter swiveled around in his chair to face me. His face was handsomely chiseled; shaggy black hair parted in the middle. His hazel-brown eyes told a sad storyโ€” a story of death and war. A story of true loneliness,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "Tell me about your family," he whispered, curling his arms across his chest; inviting his Trandoshan accompaniment to sit down, which he obliged.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  I was taken aback to say the least. There wasn't really much to it, but anything to prolong the inevitable,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "I have a younger sister," I began, twiddling my thumbs nervously underneath his gaze, "Her name is Micah. She's only 7. I lost both my parents during the Clone Wars, my mother from illness, but I still have my grandfather. We rely on the money I make from the bar to keep going. We have always dreamt of getting the hell away from this planet, but we have never had the money."

Stopping, I sniffle a bit, imagining my sister trying to make a living by herself at such a young age, "There's no way either of them could suffice. They'd die without me."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Boba nodded shortly, running a gloved finger through his hair, "I lost my dad a bit before the Clone Wars began. The Separatist Alliance hired him to do their dirty work, and that... that Jedi killed him, and what's funny is all of the Clones ever produced are my brothers... my familyโ€” 1.8 million brothers, yet I've never felt more alone."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  The anger radiating off of the man was terrifying. I knew what it was like to lose family, hell, essentially all of them were dead, but the loss of Boba's father has astronomically affected him. Leaning my cuffed hands out, I laid them down on his resting arm, squeezing softly,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "I know what it's like, Boba," I whispered, giving the man the empathy he's needed all these years, "I feel for you. You lost the only family you've ever had, but I still have some to fight for. Wouldn't you do anything to see your father just one last time?"

The bounty hunter didn't answer, but I knew what he was thinking just by looking at his face. Before Boba could answer, Bossk excused himself from the conversation, claiming his work was done, and he expected his share of credits, which dampened my mood again.

As the lizard left, Boba glanced back in my direction and nodded sheepishly, "You're right. I would do absolutely anything to see my dad again," he pauses, then immediately unhooks my cuffs; rubbing my shoulders, "I don't know why you have this affect on me, but we're going back, getting your family, and getting you away from the public eye," he pushes a small smile out as well, which causes my cheeks to light up abruptly, "I don't want any other bounty hunters aware of your presence except for me."

All of this happened so fast. I didn't expect this change of events to even happen. Who knew this strange connection we have would lead to a one-way-ticket out of the Void, and to somewhere better,

"Where are you going to take me after we escape Abafar?" I asked as we left hyperspace; facing the whitewashed planet once more.

The bounty hunter rubbed my shoulder once more, keeping it in place, "I was kind of hoping you'd travel with me maybe," he grinned, "You mentioned wanting to travel, and I need a woman around. Bossk isn't the best to travel with after multiple moons on end."

"I couldn't be a bother like that!" I gasped at his offer, absolutely mind blown that this handsome stranger would just swoop me off my feet like this, "You realize my sister and grandfather come with me, right?"

Boba smiled again, covering it up quickly with his helmet, "Trust me, (Y/N). I've never met anyone quite like you, especially enough to where I'll give up 14,000 credits. Your grandfather and little sister don't scare me one bit."

Pressing a kiss to the side of his helmet, I blushed again, even brighter than before, "I hope my personality is worth 14,000 credits, because I know traveling with you is well more than that for me! This'll be worth a fortune."
