Part 2! The Other

She/Her

1st POV
♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎

Corvus was nothing to be amazed over. Lush forests and pesky Loth Cat filled the area, but I personally enjoyed planets like Coruscant or Naboo. In crowds, I can generally be overlooked compared to in heavy wood, where I stuck out like a sore thumb. I could tell my Mandalorian accompaniment felt more at home in these conditions, so I didn't bother saying anything.

We had arrived on Crovus a little over an hour ago, and were setting up our game plan. Likely, this Jedi Knight would be very hard to find, let alone be cooperative. She didn't know either of us, yet I knew her like the back of my hand. Ahsoka Tano. She assisted in the Mandalorian siege all those years ago, and I fought beside her without blinking an eye. She never even knew my name, yet I was willing to die for her,

"So, are you sure this Jedi is even here?" Mando spoke up, stepping over a fallen tree that had gotten in our way, "I don't want to be walking into another dead end."

"I promise she's here," I commented, waltzing over the same fallen tree; the baby sitting in my arms, content with the situation, "We're not the last Mandalorians, you know. Even though my contact with the Creed is little, I have still been able to communicate to some of our own, and they talk."

Mando stopped and turned around slowly, "You're basing this excursion on talk? This is a trip based on rumor. Are you sure there's nothing sturdier to base these claims on, because if not, I will be leaving, because likely, no one is here but us."

He wasn't lying. Ever since we landed, we hadn't seen a single soul. It was as if the planet had died alongside Mandalore and her people. It was abandoned.

I tightened my grip on the Child and sighed, "You think I'd lead you out here for no reason? I care about our Creed, and the safety of this Child. You need to trust me."

"Trust is earned," he replied. I could hear the frown in his voice, "Now, we are leaving whether you want to come with us or not."

As the male Mandalorian approached me, the Child began to whimper and babble on and on; tightening his grip on my sleeve. Mando stopped in his tracks and tilted his head slightly to the right, "Either he really doesn't want to leave your arms, or he knows something is here that we don't."

"Could be that Jedi I told you about," I commented, almost with a 'told you so' tone to my voice, "You claim this little guy is a Jedi, then we need to let him be our guide to Ahsoka."

Mando sighed and nodded, "Fine. Kid, you need to lead us to your Jedi friend, okay?" he commented, snatching the Child from my arms, "Which way is she?"

The Child slowly shut his eyes, and it was almost as if he began slowing his breathing to begin focusing on the task at hand. Finally, after about 5 minutes of waiting, and listening to my Mandalorian accompaniment complain about how long this was taking, the Child's eyes snapped open,

"I think he's found her," I smiled and stroked the little guy's ear lovingly, "Good job buddy."

"Or he's found something other than a Jedi that has piqued his interest. Example A... a frog," the man grumbled, "I don't like this at all."

"Stop being so pessimistic," I snapped, glaring at him through my Beskar helmet, "You're the one who invited me to join your merry little band of misfits, and if you're going to treat me like this and not trust me, then I'll be on my way."

We began walking in silence after that. Only the Child kept babbling on and on in his inaudible baby talk, "You know," Mando began, "If there is a Jedi here, like a real one, you wouldn't understand how much that would help the Kid and I."

"If I didn't understand how important the Jedi are, why would I have offered to help?" I questioned, remembering how talented Ahsoka Tano was during the siege, "They're talented, powerful and just. But when one goes bad, everything can fall... everything."

"You have experience?" he asked, holding the Child close to his chest, likely imagining what I just described; the Kid going bad once he started his training.

I closed my eyes from underneath my helmet and nodded, "I only know this from one of my friends, Bo-Katan. There was a Jedi. He was known galaxy-wide as the Chosen One. He turned evil... killed so many people. I believe he's the reason Mandalore fell... just one Jedi turned bad, and everything fell."

The Mandalorian sighed and shook his head, "Seems like we may have to think about trusting this Jedi then."

"No, I promise," I commented, "We can trust her. She fought by my side during the siege. I would die for her."

Mando nodded and continued walking in the direction the Child was leading, "Fair enough."

Finally after around another 10 minutes of walking into seemingly nowhere, the Child began babbling even louder and pointing with his little hand,

"It appears we may be here," I commented, stroking the kid's ear again.

We stopped and began looking around. Although Corvus was abandoned, the area around us was far too quiet. No birds sang, and there was no wind. I could feel the hair on my neck pricking up. We were being watched, likely by our Jedi friend...

Before I could react, I felt a body collapse onto me, a grunt flying from my mouth. I fell to the ground, and a blinding-white light cut out my vision,

"No!" the voice of the male Mandalorian shouted, "Don't hurt her, please! We came here for a reason!"

"There's no reason anyone should be here!" the Togruta, also known by me as Ahsoka Tano, Jedi of the Republic, shouted, holding her white lightsaber to my throat. My eyes hadn't registered what the blinding white light was until now...

I held my arm up in the air, "Many years ago, you fought alongside me and my people," I began, leaning up on my elbow, "The siege of Mandalore. You saved my people and I from Maul. I was there, and I know the kindness in your heart towards those you have no allegiance to. I am once again asking this of you... please help us."

"So this is your armor then," she whispered, "You didn't kill a Mandalorian for it?"

I shook my head, and she lowered her blade silently, "We have someone who appears to be like you. A Jedi."

The Togruta got off of me and shook her head, "I could feel his signature the second you landed on my planet." She turned and faced the Child, smiling softly, "Isn't that right, Grogu?"

The male Mandalorian helped me off the ground, and we both looked at each other in confusion, "Grogu?"

"He told me his name," Ahsoka replied, "And you know, he might respond better if you used it."

She was obviously referring to my male accompaniment. Perhaps Grogu had told her that he was like his father, and how he was a Mandalorian foundling. How I just walked into the picture. I wonder if she could understand how scared he must be... flying around and getting attacked, shot at, and thrown around every second they think they're in the clear. That's the life of a foundling, and apparently, the life of a Jedi,

"He seems to be happy with you," Ahsoka replied, scooping up the child in her arms and petting his ears, a lot like how I did, "He speaks highly of both of you."

I nudged the male Mandalorian's side and smiled from below my helmet, "That's comforting. He likes me too."

"Well, of course he does," the taller male replied; amusement laced in his words, "What's there not to like?"

Although Mando couldn't see my blush, I'm sure he knew what was happening. I never ever received compliments, let alone from someone like the male Mandalorian before me. He was special. I felt like I'd known him my whole life, although we'd only met around a day ago. I do believe it is Grogu that is to blame. That little creature is as special as Mando,

Ahsoka Tano had lead us to a small camp, obviously where she'd been staying for a while now. There was a small fire lit, a little shelter to keep out the weather, and a place for her to sit down. It was nothing fancy, but it definitely got the job done.

The sun was beginning to set, so that caused her to be drawn to the fire like moths to a flame. Grogu of course followed. Mando and I stayed away and let them bond,

"Are you okay?" I asked, laying a hand on his arm, "I mean, if Grogu does decide to stay and train with Ahsoka... will you be okay?"

The Mandalorian inhaled deeply. He shook his head and peered over to me, "I'll have to be. His destiny is much more important than mine, so any attachment I have with him will have to be severed."

"I was also wondering if... he does go, or hell, even if he decides to stay, could I stay as well? Maybe just for a bit, or maybe a little longer than a bit?" I asked, looking up at him, "I don't mean to intrude, but there aren't many of us left."

He slowly wrapped his arm around my shoulder and nodded, "Yes. I would like that a lot, especially if the Kid decides to be trained with Ahsoka. I'll need someone to put in danger," he joked.

I could hear the sadness in his voice although he was trying to mask it with humor and jokes. His vision laid on the Kid, watching his every move illuminated by the flames of the fire, "Mando..." I began, leaning into his side, "Where will we go? After all of this?"

"I don't know," he replied, "My whole life for the past few rotations has been to find the Kid a Jedi, and even before then, I have been focusing on protecting him. I don't know where I will go now if I'm being honest..."

"We don't have to decide now," I smiled, laying my head on his shoulder, "Let's just focus on what's most important to Grogu. He will be fulfilling his destiny, and you're to thank for that."

Mando squeezed my shoulder and adverted his gaze from the Child, focusing on me, "We're to thank for that. Without your insight, we wouldn't have found the Jedi. I said earlier that trust is earned... well, I think you really went above and beyond. I trust you."

That made me beyond happy. I couldn't even put into words just how happy those words made me. I understood his distrust, I held it towards many individuals myself. It's just how the Mandalorian Creed worked, but especially now since our planet was overthrown. Trust was a rare occurrence amongst our people, yet I didn't have a hard time allowing this Mandalorian in. Call me reckless, but I trusted him right away.

Before I could reply to the male Mandalorian's sweet words, the Togurta rose, carrying the Child in her arms. She had a steady look on her face, and I couldn't read what she was thinking, yet I had a bad feeling. Mando tightened his grip on my shoulder as she stopped in front of us, a grim look appearing on her face,

"I can't train him," she started, looking up at the taller Mandalorian.

I could feel his grip loosen, likely from disappointment, "You can't, or you won't?"

"I am not the right Jedi for the job, Mandalorian," she finished, placing the child back in my arms, "There aren't many of us left, but I cannot risk Grogu becoming another Sith... it's not worth it..."

I wrapped my hand in Mando's and frowned, "What do you suppose we do, Ahsoka?"

She turned around and sighed, "Grogu will show you the way, (Y/N). The force is powerful enough for such a simple task. Never doubt its ability."

"Wait!" I shouted, releasing Mando's hand, "How do you know my name?"

"You said it yourself," she smiled softly, "We fought together. I never forget anyone... especially the Mandalorian. Your people are very special to me."

At this point... I felt warm and cold. Warm over the fact that this Jedi remembered me and every single one of my peoples' endless sacrifices, and cold over the fact that she won't train Grogu. Looking up at Mando, I couldn't read his face, but I knew he was feeling the same way,

"Come on," he whispered, taking my hand once again, "Looks like we're back to square one..."
