"This is a simple mission, you two," the booming voice of Mace Windu commented while staring both Master Anakin Skywalker and I down like a hawk to a rabbit, "The holocron claims there's a Gran by the name of T'wal on Tatooine. He is old enough for us to begin training. You must present our orders to T'wal's parents and then immediately bring him here."

This was a mission neither I, nor Skywalker had ever been given before. This was such an honour: to bring a Youngling to Coruscant to begin their Jedi Training. I felt giddy with excitement, and I could sense that Anakin was feeling some form of excitement as well. He was always better at hiding his feelings than I am.
Bowing, both Anakin and I are dismissed from the Council room, and we begin heading towards the docking ports outside of the Jedi Temple.

Walking by, we run into both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, who are headed in the direction of the Temple artifacts room. Master Obi-Wan Kenobi bows, and momentarily congratulated us on such an important mission,
"The Council must trust you both very much if they're sending the two of you after the kid," he commented, mainly towards his old apprentice, "May the Force be with you both."

"You too, Master," I smiled, bowing accordingly. It felt good to have Obi-Wan's approval even though what he believed or thought didn't impact Mace Windu's decision to send us or not. It was still quite encouraging to have him in our corner.
Turning away from Master Kenobi and Padawan Tano, Anakin and I continued towards the docking port. We continued to respectfully bow are more and more Masters passed us by, until we finally reached our destination. Captain Rex, Anakin's clone Captain, as well as my Commander, Widow, were both waiting for our arrival,

"The two of you ready to board?" Widow asked as we arrived, "The ship is ready for both of you, whenever you're ready."

Patting his armoured shoulder, I smiled and nodded, "Yep. We're ready to set course to Tatooine!"

The Commander saluted and span around to go inside the ship. I knew a few more of my Clones, as well as Ani's would be inside. Although this is a peaceful form of travel to Tatooine, you never know when the Separatists will attack. For all we know, T'wal could just be rumours that the Separatists have taken advantage of. I couldn't sense anything malicious in the force surrounding the young Gran, so I doubt it.

Walking alongside Master Skywalker, we both then boarded the ship; taking our seats in the cockpit alongside Jesse and Fives. The two of them were mindlessly arguing over which Twi'lek was sexier out of the pair they met the night before at the 79's; the bar that many of the Clones venture to when they're off the clock.
"I hope you two are almost finished," I commented while sitting beside Anakin, "We need to get a move on."

"Sorry, sir," Jesse responded guiltily, while throwing an aggravated look at Fives, who was staring innocently out the cockpit window.
Anakin couldn't help but chuckle at the seriousness of his ARC Trooper,

"Relax, Jesse; he's just kidding," Ani corrected, grabbing my shoulder and giving it a squeeze, "He's just ready to get away from the stuffiness of the Temple."

"That's the understatement of the year," I grumbled while shrugging Anakin's hand away. Master Yoda and the rest of the Council had been discussing plans to add me to the Council as a Jedi Master before Anakin. That felt wrong to me— if anyone is deserving of the title Jedi Master, it's Ani. I'm nowhere near as talented as him, and not to mention, Anakin is the Chosen One.
I know Anakin knows about the Council's plans, but he is hiding his anger and pain from me, which hurts even worst.

Jesse and Fives straightened up immediately, and began pushing the ship to fly. Normally Anakin would be our designated driver, but for some reason, today he's just been super clingy with me. As Fives lifted us up and away from Coruscant, Anakin's hand slipped into mine.
I gave him a very confused look, but Skywalker was too concerned with the cockpit window. He was purposefully not meeting my gaze. Why am I not pulling away from his touch?

So many red flags were going off in my brain right now, yet I still refuse to pull away from Ani's grasp. Could this be a coping mechanism over not getting the title of Master? What would the Council think if they discovered Anakin's taboo motions? Would he be dismissed from the Order? Would Jesse and Fives seek out Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and tell on Anakin to his old Master?
I feel like passing out.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Anakin whispered, squeezing my hand softly; his thumb gracefully rubbing the top of my hand, "Please just breathe. I can sense your anxieties."

"It's hard to not be anxious when you're acting this way," I snapped back through clenched teeth, "What are you thinking?"

The Chosen One didn't immediately respond. One thing that remained constant was his endless grazing of my hand with his thumb. This made butterflies circle through my stomach endlessly, which just further pissed me off.
"Can we talk about this once we land?" he finally asked, motioning towards his Clones. They were busy bickering, and likely hadn't even noticed our interaction.

I just nodded, but I still kept my hand linked with his. It was like the Force was holding us together. I wanted to break away more than anything. I feel like I'm single-handedly letting down everyone in the Jedi Order by simply holding Ani's hand.

The ship quickly fell into Hyperspace, and before I could even say 'Tatooine,' we were already there. The bright orangish-yellow planet was almost blinding as Jesse lead us in. I could sense Anakin's uncomfortableness as we approached the sand planet. He had even managed to rake his fingers away from mine as the planet closed it,
"Are you alright?" I asked; a mirror to Anakin's question from before.

He shrugged and smiled without teeth. I could tell he was barely holding it together. No one ever discussed Anakin's past, before he was found by the legendary Qui-Gon Jinn. All anyone knew was that his home planet was Tatooine. I wasn't one to pry, especially on a topic that obviously affects Ani this much.

Jesse slowly lowered the ship into the Tatooine atmosphere, and finally at a port. It was mildly surrounded by shops and street markets, but besides that, it was rather clear. It was easy to see for miles.
Unluckily for us, the Jedi Holocron never revealed exact locations for the upcoming Younglings: only the planet. It's like the Holocron wished to test the designated Jedi's connection to the force.

Anakin and I quickly abandoned the Republic ship, alongside our Squadrons. They were at our beckoning call, so if trouble appeared, my battalion, the Spider Squad, and the 501st would be at our side.

Anakin was focused on tracking the Gran. His eyes were closed as he walked; his hand extended like a tracker for a beacon. It was so interesting to watch him use the force. The incredible focus he used; how his muscles in his face would mildly twitch. He was so handsome anyways, but when he was focused... it was just a different kind of handsome. He was so passionate about the force.

"I think he's close," the Chosen One concluded after a few moments, "Follow my lead, (Y/N)."
I did as commanded.

After a few moments of passing by stores and Tatooine citizens, I finally cleared my throat, and got the courage to talk to Ani,
"Please tell me what you're feeling," I started, looking straight into the distance, "I want to have a legit conversation about this, because what happened on that ship jeopardizes everything we stand for as Jedi."

Anakin didn't respond immediately. He bit his lip in thought, as if he was trying to formulate some excuse for why he held my hand. Then, something happened that I couldn't have expected less—
Anakin Skywalker began tearing up.

Reflexively, my hand snapped down to his. I couldn't have expected either of our reactions to the question, yet here we are. Anakin had slowed down his walk, and was just standing in the middle of the dusty road. His lake-blue eyes stared into my (E/C) ones, and he slowly pulled me into a hug,
"It's stupid," he muttered; his voice muffled by my shoulder, "I just have such a strong attraction through the force with you. We met very recently, and I have never had the same connection with anyone ever. Not with Obi-Wan. Not with Ahsoka. You're just... different. I feel as if the force is dragging me towards you."

I know exactly what Ani is talking about. No matter where we go throughout our Jedi business, we always end up back together, fighting the bad guys. I do have to admit that there has always been something with Anakin that's felt different than with the other Knights.
Squeezing him into my chest, I breathed out a sigh of relief,
"Anakin, you're the most important individual in my life. I don't even know how to put into words how important you are: how much you mean to me."

That was just what Anakin needed to hear. His shoulder immediately relaxed, and the Chosen One simply melted into my touch. Sighing, I grazed my lips across his distinct collarbone; kissing lightly.
Anakin brought his thumb and pointer fingers to my chin, and propped it up. I was so nervous, and as if Anakin could sense it, he let out a light chuckle as he analyzed my features.

"You're so handsome, (Y/N)," he whispered before pressing his lips to mine.

As a Jedi, it's typical to imagine what having an intimate relationship with another person is like. Just relying on another person... loving someone endlessly. I never imagined it would be like this. With Anakin Skywalker.
Yet. Here it was.

Pulling away abruptly, I wiped my mouth with the sleeve of my Jedi robes, and squeezed Anakin's hand, "We can continue this later. T'wal is close by. We need to get him to the Temple before Windu personally dismembers us limb by limb."

Anakin chuckled; little wrinkles appearing around his eyes. He leaned his forehead into mine lovingly, and nodded, "He's close. Let's go find him."

We then set off again, ignoring the stares from passerby; concerned why two individuals wearing Jedi symbols are kissing in the middle of a busy street. Everyone knows attachment is forbidden as a Jedi.
Rounding a corner, we spot him. The little Gran was only knee high in height, and was wobbling after his mother, a fellow Gran, who was picking some fruits at the market. She was softly humming to herself; looking down at her baby with adoration.

I glanced at Anakin, guilt beginning to set in. How are we supposed to break the news that little T'wal is force sensitive, and we are required to take him to Coruscant with us to train as a Jedi, and fight in this never-ending war? Anakin seemed to have the same thoughts as I, but he slowly approached,

"Excuse me, ma'am," he began, gaining the Gran's attention as she scooped up her son, "My name is Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker. That over there is Jedi Knight (Y/N) (Y/L/N). We are members of the Jedi Order, and we have wonderful news: T'wal here is going to be trained as a Jedi."

I face palmed. How did Anakin really think that would be exciting news? This woman's baby would be taken from her, and she'd never see him again. He could've at least put it on her a little softer, but no.

The Gran mother glanced from me back to Anakin, then back to me,
"He is to be a Jedi?" she questioned, more trusting than I'd imagine. Perhaps it was because Ani knew the kid's name, which was only revealed through the Holocron.

I stepped forward and nodded, "It is a great honour to be chosen by the force. T'wal is very lucky, and he will make your people proud."

After a few moments, the Gran pulled her son close to her chest in a warm embrace. Tears spilled from her many eyes, and her lips pressed against T'wal's little forehead, "Please don't let anything happen to my baby."

I bowed accordingly, "He will be a mighty warrior. He won't need to rely on us for protection very long."

She smiled at that, and set the boy down. T'wal looked at his mother, very confused,
"Honey, they are your protectors now," she cooed, squeezing his hand lovingly, "You're going to be a Jedi. That's the highest honour anyone could receive. You're going to make me so proud."

Of course, T'wal was a little too young to understand the heavy words leaving his mother's mouth, but he still blinked in understanding. It was as if the force was explaining to him what words could not.
Spinning around, he waddled to my side. I slowly scooped him up, and squeezed the shoulder of the female Gran,
"He will make you so proud."

After the Gran family said their goodbyes to each other, Anakin and myself were off to the ship once more: one creature greater. T'wal was silent, and dozed off. His head rested softly on my shoulder, which made my heart explode. He was absolutely adorable,

"It hurts, doesn't it?" Ani asked, splitting the silence, "Having to rip a baby away from his parent's? It doesn't seem right to me."

"I agree," I admitted, "But we need more Jedi with this war. T'wal will make an excellent Youngling."

Anakin shrugged. There was a subtle darkness hidden behind his face. A darkness surrounding his hate for the Jedi ways that I couldn't even begin to understand.
Clenching T'wal close to my chest, my gaze rose to the darkening sky above. He has a point... why must we take a child away from his parent? All for a war they don't have a part in, or even understand?
Hell, I don't even understand this war, yet I blindly fight for the Republic... who evidently are becoming as corrupt as the Separatists...

Glancing towards Anakin, I feel as our connection begins to grow stronger as we begin to trust the Jedi Order less and less.
