Part 2! Rako Hardeen

1st POV
♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎

Quite a few moons have gone past since Obi-Wan Kenobi had died. Since Obi-Wan Kenobi had been murdered by Bounty Hunter Rako Hardeen. I haven't been able to get his smug look off my mind since the incident occurred. The way his aqua blue eyes bore into mine as he escaped... that look he gave me.
Another curious question was why Rako Hardeen and Obi-Wan Kenobi had the same force signature. I had gone to both Master Yoda and Master Windu with these questions, but they just shrugged me away, claiming my judgement was clouded.

I know Obi-Wan. My judgement isn't clouded by grief as they say it is.

Anakin Skywalker and I have been getting together a couple times a week to centre in and track Hardeen. He has hit a couple bars during his time free of bondage, and has picked up a few friends along the way. Friends like Cad Bane, the young Boba Fett, and Bossk. All terrible friends to have.

Today was one of the days Anakin and I decided to meet. Anakin had heard from the Chancellor himself that Hardeen and Bane had been seen on the swamp planet of Nal Hutta, which was nasty business indeed. Many Jedi that go to that planet don't make it off again.
"Do you think we will need Ahsoka to come along for this?" I questioned while looking over the coordinates that Master Skywalker had provided, "This seems a little dangerous."

"That's exactly why I'm not allowing her to come with us," Anakin agreed, turning off the com link with the coordinates and slipping it into his pocket, "These Bounty Hunters can't be underestimated, and Ahsoka isn't strong enough to go with us."

I shook my head in disagreement, "I feel like Ahsoka would be very disappointed if you didn't allow her to come. Obi-Wan was her friend too."

Anakin dipped his head and looked at the floor; visibly upset, "You're right, (Y/N). That would be like sending a group without bringing you— Ahsoka can come."
Anakin has always known about yours and Obi-Wan's relationship despite neither of you telling him. It's kind of like how Obi-Wan knows about Anakin and Padmé. We all hang out together enough to be able to know things without verbal communication.

"I will call her then," I whispered. I was beginning to grow nervous over this whole ordeal— the realization that I will have to confront my boyfriend's murderer again, and the fact that I will have to recognize his force signature, which instills the denial I have about Obi's death.
I clicked on my com link; attaching it to Ahsoka's line. We chatted for a bit about the situation, and she agreed that she should accompany Anakin and I to Nal Hutta.

After I hung up the call, we loaded onto one of the Republic's less recognizable ships, waited for Ahsoka, and once she arrived, we took off. Nal Hutta is in the Outer Rim, so we obviously initiated Hyper Space travel so we could get there faster.
While the ship was in Hyper Space, I just sat silently in my seat in the cockpit, thinking about my lost Obi-Wan.

Every memory, no matter how random or obscure they were, began to pop up in my head. From something simple like studying in the Jedi archives, to fighting by his side, or sharing a piece of food while on a mission... our first kiss.
Tears began to well up in my eyes at the thought of him— my one and only love. He was all I've ever wanted and more. I would leave my life in the Order behind me immediately if I could just see Obi-Wan one last time.

"You okay?" the voice of Ahsoka chimed into my senses. Anakin had gone to his quarters and was nowhere to be seen, and I just automatically assumed his Padawan had left too.

I sniffled and patted my eyes dry,

"I'm fine, Ahsoka. I'm just taking Obi-Wan's death pretty badly. He was my best friend," I replied while watching the Togruta, "I know the Jedi way is to honour those we've lost, and celebrate them joining the force, but I can't just let Obi-Wan go like that. His death was just so... violent. I feel hopeless, honestly."

Ahsoka laid her hand on my shoulder, "Master, I know how you feel. We are going to do everything in our power to bring Hardeen to justice, and bring some sort of peace to everyone in the Order. All the Jedi have been shocked by Master Kenobi's death. Hopefully this can bring closure."

I chuckled and nodded appreciatively towards the Padawan, "You are as wise as your Master. Thanks, Ahsoka."

"Anytime, Master (L/N)," the Togruta replied while smiling brightly, "We're almost to Nal Hutta. Might as well take these last few moments to collect yourself before the hard stuff starts."

She was right. It's hard getting advice from a Padawan, but I can't deny she knows what she's talking about. Ahsoka sounds like Obi-Wan sometimes: like she was his Padawan instead of Anakin.

The ship, thanks to Anakin Skywalker, who emerged from the back of the ship, began to land. It was a smooth landing, which was rare whenever Anakin had the wheel. I'm pleased it turned out that way— I don't think I could take a crashed landing in this mental state.

Once the ship was fully on the ground, Anakin, Ahsoka, and myself quickly dismounted the ship. It was an... interesting planet, to say the least. There was a seemingly infinite layer of fog covering as far as the eye could see, and it was incredibly humid. Anakin wiped a line of sweat from his brow, and glanced around,
"I suggest we start in the bar."

Our group walked towards a pretty abandoned bar in the middle of the small town we landed in. There was mellow music playing, and a handful of guests quietly sipping on some form of alcohol. There was a Rodian manning the bar, and he glanced our way rather negligently, "Can I help you folks?" he asked, a hint of annoyance in his tone.

"Yes, you can," Anakin replied while placing his lightsaber nonchalantly on the bar, "We are looking for a Bounty Hunter named Rako Hardeen."

The Rodian looked at the lightsaber, up at Anakin, and back down at the lightsaber, "I don't know, Jedi," he hissed, "I have lots of people coming in and out of here all day. And, I don't ask names. What makes you think I will help you out?"

"He's a Jedi killer," I snapped, my aggravation rising, "We just need to know where he went. He killed a very noble and peaceful Jedi without being provoked, and we just wish to bring him to justice."

The Rodian nodded and began cleaning a glass with a dirtied rag, "Listen, I don't know much. I saw a Duros come in here, asking about ships for sale. I'd never seen him around, but he mentioned he needed a pretty large ship. I bet your Hardeen is with him."

Anakin eyed me, and we nodded. That was definitely Cad Bane that the Rodian is referring to,
"Where did you send them to?"

The Rodian, once Ahsoka pulled out a map, marked out where all of the ship selling places were on Nal Hutta. We estimated that Bane and his 'friends' wouldn't have wanted to go too far considering they're on a time crunch, so we've decided to check the closest location first.

The three of us rented speeder bikes from the bar, and we were off. It wasn't a very long drive, thankfully. The ship port was a very depressing sight: right behind the ships that were for sale was a ship graveyard; broken and damaged pieces of ship sat alone, just waiting to be crushed. The fog seemed thicker here, oddly enough.
"Alright," Anakin started while dismounting his bike, "Let's split up, but don't go too far. These Bounty Hunters shouldn't be underestimated."

I nodded in agreement with that statement. Cad Bane was ruthless. He had murdered a handful of Jedi in his time, and if he's teaming up with Rako Hardeen, it's hard to tell what they're planning in the long run.
I headed off towards the North. There was an interesting sensation in the force that was falling out to me. Ahsoka took the West, and Anakin took the East. We would meet in the South once we either captured Hardeen, or had a plan on what to do next.

I ran alongside the concrete, following wherever the force guided me to. Luckily, it was in the right direction. Over the ridge, towards a hefty looking ship, was a very familiar Duros. Right beside him was Rako Hardeen himself.
My fists clenched as anger began to cloud my senses. I would never admit this to anyone because it is against the Jedi code, but I would give anything to throw Rako Hardeen out of a cruiser while travelling in Hyper Space.

"Hardeen!" I shouted, immediately pulling out my lightsaber and igniting it once I entered shouting range, "Don't you try to run this time! I will not hesitate to hurt you!"

Fear flashed in the Bounty Hunter's eyes as he and Cad turned to begin running. I threw my lightsaber, comparable to how a boomerang would be tossed, and I cut a large hole in Bane's hat. He cursed and threw it at me like a frisbee, but I was able to easily dodge.
Cad Bane was not loyal whatsoever. My vendetta wasn't against Bane, so the second he attempted an escape, I let him.

Anger over the loss of Obi-Wan completely blurred out any morality. I was simply grey, and I would stop at nothing to bring this man to justice for what he did to my boyfriend.
It was just me and Hardeen now.

"You have no idea what you have done," I began, twirling my (F/C) lightsaber in my hand, "You have permanently changed the outcome of the Clone Wars. You murdered Obi-Wan Kenobi! He did nothing to you! He was a peacekeeper, and an amazing friend! You have forever damaged so many lives just for a few credits!"

At this point, tears were beginning to accumulate in my eyes, "I loved him, and you took him from me!"

I leapt forward; my lightsaber heading right for his torso. But, he did something that surprised me. Midair, he grabbed my wrist that was holding the lightsaber, and twisted. I gasped, dropping my weapon onto the concrete below. Rako Hardeen looked into my eyes; his showing a lightness to them,

"Please don't, (Y/N)," he whispered.

My eyes widened and I immediately began to connect the dots. It was very curious that Rako Hardeen and Obi-Wan Kenobi shared a force signature, and it was even more peculiar when the Jedi Council completely discredited my assumptions pertaining to this. It's like they knew what I was saying... and they lied to me? They lied to Anakin and I— the ones closest to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"I..." I choked out, staring into Hardeen's blue eyes, "Obi-Wan?"

Hardeen cracked a small smile, "Play dead, darling. Bane can't know."

This was all too much, but I couldn't argue. Conflicted emotions played through my whole body and soul at this moment. Obi is alive... the Council lied to me... Obi... he is okay.
Without a second question, I slumped onto the ground, motionless.

Cad Bane walked over and chuckled deeply, "Hardeen, you are truly the Jedi slayer that will be spoken about for generations to come. First, the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now (Y/N) (L/N). Dooku will be very pleased."

"I live to serve," Hardeen shrugged and began to walk off with the Duros; not stopping to shoot me a reassuring look, or to just make sure I'm alright.

As the two Bounty Hunters left my senses, my eyes snapped open.
Fresh anger flowed through my veins. The Council lied! What else have they lied about?
