"Soldiers, attention!" Captain Widow, the Clone who was in charge of my training, growled, "Before I continue, I would like to know how many of you want to be ARC Troopers?"

In sync, all of the Troops hollered, "Us, sir,"

"And how many of you dream of being apart of the 501st regiment?" he continued, pacing in quiet strides, his hands grasped securely behind his back as he moved.

Yet again, all of the Troopers replied with a loud, "Us, sir!"

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  I could tell he was smirking under that dingy maroon helmet by just the pitch of his voice moderately changing, "Good, because here today to monitor your training, and decide if you're ready to shed the shiny armor, is Captain Rex from the 501st, and Captain Cody, from the 212th."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  I tightened into a more smooth attention stance as they entered. Cody stayed professional; not removing his helmet and not swaying away his intimidating glance from us shinies, but Rex's eyes widened as they landed on me, "I was told we had a female Clone, but I didn't believe it," he said in amusement while striding up to me, "What's your name, Trooper?"

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "I am CT-4162," I replied, locking eyes with the handsome Captain in front of me, "But the boys call me (Y/N), sir."

Rex nodded, scratching his chin, "You're apart of the Domino Squad, right?" he asked, scanning my team, which were all lined up behind me, "What's their names?"

"There's Fives, Echo, Hevy, and Cutup, sir," I replied, "In that order."

"Alright well, I'd like to watch the Domino Squad in action first. I hope their reputation proceeds them," Rex continued, finally turning around and breaking eye contact with me, "Or maybe it won't."

We were dismissed by squads. As my squad was leaving, I felt a soft punch to my shoulder,

"Seems like you've caught the Captain's eye, (Y/N)," my friend, Hevy smiled, "In more ways than one."

I cocked my head in confusion as we descended into our barracks, "What do you mean?"

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "Isn't it obvious?" Echo adds, leaning on my shoulder, his hot breath on my neck, which caused my skin to goosebump up, "He's impressed due to the fact that you're our 'self-proclaimed' leader, you survived the Cloning process as Bad Batch, and the fact that you're different."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  I rolled my eyes and punched them both in the shoulder, "Shut up, you two," I smirked in annoyance, "Let's get our game faces on. If we want to become Clones, and not just rookies, we gotta do our best here and now," then I turned to Echo, "And don't call me a Bad Batch."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "Yes sir," my boys nodded as we piled on our training armor, "Make sure to suck up to Captain Rex though," Fives added as we grabbed our weapons, "He's obviously favorited you."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  Punching Fives extra hard, I roll my eyes and smile to myself, "It's just because I'm unique. If you were created as a girl, he'd pick you out of the group too. I'm rare, that's it."

Cutup, my personal favorite out of my brothers, (based on the reason that he didn't talk much except when we were in training) made a sound of amusement, "Keep telling yourself that, boss, but we aren't stupid, and you aren't naΓ―ve."

"Alright boys, I didn't know you were so serious about this," I smiled and patted Cutup on the back, "Just ignore Rex, and ignore Cody. We do this for ourselves, not them. We're here to make a dent in the war, not our own personal goals. Now, let's go become Troopers."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  The five of us ascended into a elevator that was layered in glass and metal. We could see everything for milesβ€” the pelting rain of Kamino, the training ground, and of course, Captain Rex,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "You know," Echo began, clearing his throat, "We've done this course millions of times, and I've never been this nervous."

None of us replied. We all knew why, and we were all feeling it. The pressure. The immense dread about the fact that we may not get to be Clones, and we may just become Sanitation Clones. That was every Clone's nightmare, but I had a feeling this time we would make it to the finish line. I didn't want to admit it to my friends, but I knew I had Rex personally cheering for me. That was a comforting thought indeed,

"Now presenting, the Domino Squad," the speaker from above boomed as the five of us rose to the starting point of the course, "The rules simply state..."

"Never leave a man behind, follow orders, and get to that finish line," Hevy mocked alongside the speaker, "It's not like we've heard this a million times."

We all chuckled softly, "Good thing the Captains can't hear you, or they'd surely wouldn't be as amused as us," Cutup commented as he raised his gun up, ready to roll.

The light above the training turrets turned green, and we all split into our starting positions, "Hevy!" I yelled, ducking away from a stun blast, "Take out those approaching Battle Droids. Don't get too cocky though, stay careful. Echo, take out those snipers. Cutup and Fives, stay on my tail. We advance slowly as the snipers fall."

Watching these Clones was honestly unlike anything the Captain had ever witnessed in his life. They were so unorthodox, yet organized at the same time... and that girl, (Y/N). She lead her squad like a natural-born leader. This made Captain Rex rethink automatically giving Bad Batches to the sanitary department, because they could be like this Trooper,

"Get me Trooper CT-4162's information," Rex commented to Bric, one of the Bounty Hunters in charge of training the Shinies.

"The girl?" the Siniteen asked in a mocking tone, "Sure, whatever you need, Captain."

Bric got the Clone the information he wanted. Rex got down to business. He wanted this Clone and her friends in his battalion immediately, regardless if they finished the simulation or not. They worked like clockwork together, and Rex knew that is exactly what he wanted.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  In her records, it appeared she was the only one in her batch to survive. During an attack on Kamino, her batch's tank had gotten smashed during incubation, and in being the lone survivor, she was also born a girl. Very rare and lucky indeed,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "Interesting," he spoke to himself, dismissing the records and turning his attention back to the scene ahead; ignoring an amused look from his fellow Captain, Cody.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  We finally arrived to the turrets. All the snipers were expertly taken out by Echo, and all the oncoming droids were demolished by Hevy. Fives, Cutup and myself had kept all the other elements at bay, whether it was a lone Droideka, or a surprise attack. We knew what to do automatically,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "Fives, take out those turrets!" I shouted as more droids began to surround us, "Boys, ready for crush these Clankers?" I smirked, pointing my double fisting guns at the oncoming droids, and opening fire.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  The boys responded just as I had expected. Battle cries. As we finished up our flawless performance, so had Fives, and we were ready to shoot up to the finish line and claim our Clone Trooper armor once and for all, but then we realized,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "My grappling hook isn't here!" Cutup growled, noticing ours were missing too, "We were set up for failure! What are we supposed to do now?"

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  Pacing, I just happened to look up at the training balcony, and lock eyes with Captain Rex. It's almost like he knew what was going on. Just a small gesture. His little nod. It gave me the most confidence a simple Clone could carry. I smiled shortly at him, then turned back to my boys,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "Cover me. I'm going up," I smirked, immediately jumping on top of a deadened turret which Fives had taken out with no trouble.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  None of my boys complained. They did just as I said; smoking any rouge droids who had lost their way, and shot up comforting phrases as I made the long climb up the cliff. Grappling my arms on the flat surface where the ending lies, I smiled to myself as I pulled myself up; wrapping my gloved hands around the flagβ€” yanking it up and yelling out with glee.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  My boys answered back with excited cheers, throwing their weapons down and racing up to meet me. As they made their way up, I turned around and smiled brightly at Rex,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  'Thank you, sir,' I mouthed to him excitedly, earning an earnest smile back from the handsome Captain, 'Thank you so much.'

"Fives, Echo, Cutup, Hevy, and (Y/N) of the Domino Squad," Captain Rex began as he attached shiny gold metals onto our newly placed armor, "I am proud to announce that you will be immediately dispatched into the war zone following my dismissal. You will serve under me in the 501st Battalion. Congratulations!"

As he dismissed us, I turned around to talk to my brothers. Right as we got into conversation, I felt a soft tap on my shoulder. I turned around, and locked eyes with Captain Rex, "Oh, sir!" I went into an attentive lock, "How may I serve you?"

"Relax, soldier," he said in amusement, laying his arm on my shoulder, "Follow me. I want to talk to you."

My squad laughed in awareness as I walked off behind my Captain, "How are you, sir?" I asked as we exited the barracks and into the outside. The full moon was illuminating Kamino's rain, and the breeze made the planet feel more hospitable than normal,

"I'm doing well, thanks, (Y/N)," he replied while brushing off his breastplate, "I wanted to personally congratulate you on your success. I've never seen a Clone like you in all my time in the war. I think you'll rise in the ranks faster than you'd expect."

I blushed in appreciation, "Why, thank you so much sir! And by the way, thanks for helping out earlier with the simulation. Without your confidence boost, I feel like we would've been way worst left off."

The Captain wrapped his arm around my shoulder and shook his head, "What do you see? I mean, what do you really see?"

"Uhh, rain?" Was this a trick question? Kamino was always full of rain, and nothing less, "And the moon. It's absolutely breathtaking tonight."

"I was hoping you'd point out the moon," he smiled, rubbing his gloved-thumb on my shoulder as he spoke; his voice like velvet, "I know you blame me for your success, but each Clone inhabits their own breathtaking abilities, just like the moon, the breeze, and the rain here on Kamino. Although we look alike, we are all different, and you really prove that. What I'm trying to say is, I admire you, in and out of combat."

Yet again, a blush appeared on my tan skin, turning it to a light pink, "Thank you, sir. I never expected this much praise in one day from someone I have looked up to my entire life. And obviously, my feelings are mutual, as you've probably guessed."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "I assume your Domino Squad has guessed too, hmm?" the older man smirked in amusement, pointing behind me, to where my best friends were very clumsily eavesdropping on the two of us,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  I rolled my eyes, "They're such children. I'll take care of them," I kissed Rex on the cheek. It was his turn to blush, which was honestly hilarious. I never imagined someone of his reputation to blush over a simple share of affection.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  I strolled over to the side of the building where my boys were staying, and slapped them lightly on the cheek, "You boys wanna run off before I feed you to a Sarlacc?"

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "Come on, (Y/N)!" Fives complained, punching my shoulder a little too hard, "We just want to support our friend."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  "There's other ways, Fives, now go and bug someone else," I teased, ruffling his hair.

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  The four of them reluctantly ran off, so I did the same, just back in the direction of the patiently-waiting Rex, "Sorry for making you wait, sir," I smiled, wrapping my arm around his waist,

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "Not a problem at all," he grinned, pushing some of my hair out of my face, "Now, let's get on our ship before we're missed. We're headed to Coruscant to meet General Skywalker. He's heard lots about you."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  I kissed his jawline softly as we walked back to the ship, "I don't think they'll miss us too much if we're gone for a couple more minutes."

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β Β  "Yes they will, now come onβ€” Captain's orders," he teased.
