"Chin up, (Y/N)," the voice of your Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi instructed while tapping your chin with his sparring blade; a wooden sword essentially, "It'll help you focus and keep your attention on the enemy. Looking at the floor will only get you killed."

"I know this Master, I'm just a little bit frustrated," you responded while bouncing your blade from hand to hand, "Wouldn't it be more productive to help Master Skywalker, Padawan Tano and the 501st with the war efforts?"

Obi-Wan just smiled, "It wouldn't be helpful if we showed up and you fought as well as you have been doing today. You're normally more focused. What's on your mind?"

Jeez. That's a loaded question for sure. You didn't even know where to start. You needed to bullshit up a response so Obi-Wan would leave you alone. If you Master knew the real reason you were distracted, you'd be asked to leave the Jedi Order forever. Captain Rex of the 501st battalion and yourself had started a secretive relationship behind the backs of Master Kenobi and Skywalker. So, that's really what was on your mind.
"It's really nothing, Master," you responded while bringing the sword up in front of your chest, "I think I ate something bad for dinner last night. I'm having some uncomfortable cramps."

Your Master didn't look convinced in the slightest, but he didn't try any further to get information out of you. After training a man like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan knew the stubbornness all too well. You shared that stubbornness and Obi wouldn't dare to try and fight that.
"Let's spar one more time, then we can head out and join Anakin."

You did as commanded; falling into Form IV to counter Obi-Wan's Form III. Obi-Wan has always been a very defensive Jedi: only going on the offensive when his opponents were worn down from attacking. Form III was mainly used against blaster bolts, while Form IV is perfect when fighting against one person. The two Forms clashed perfectly.

Of course, the sparring swords were only wood, so you, nor Kenobi held back. You tried to move the blade close to Master Kenobi's wrist; a tactic taught to you by Mace Windu. It's a risky move, but if executed right, will disarm or even remove the hands from the opponent. It leaves your torso unguarded though. Perhaps you needed to pick up a second lightsaber soon to help counter that opening.
"You're thinking too much!" your Master shouted while banging his wooden lightsaber into your chest; you form plummeting into the ground, "Just let the force guide you!"

You snapped back up to your feet; calling the lightsaber back into your grip. You smashed it against his; the sound echoing through the training room. There were a few other Padawan and Master pairs in the training room, and all of them stopped to watch. You ignored them, though, despite the itch of ego that was flourishing in your stomach. If the other Padawan and Masters stopped to watch, you must be good.

"You're getting cocky, old man," you snapped, whirling the wooden lightsaber in your hands, "Let's see if you can keep up."

The duel went on for countless minutes. It felt like hours, when in reality, only 10 minutes had gone by. Obi-Wan hadn't even broken a sweat yet. Compared to you, he was unscathed.
"Come on, (Y/N)!" a young voice, belonging to one of your Padawan buddies; a kid from Naboo named Jaxon, shouted; his Master irritably nudging his shoulder, telling him to be quiet.

A surge of energy seemed to erupt from your Master. Yet again, he had knocked the blade from your hand. It clattered noisily on the floor.
Huffing, you stepped back and lowered your head, submitting to Obi-Wan,

"Good job, (Y/N)," he commented, resting his hand on your shoulder, "I noticed whenever you rested your mind, you began fighting better. It's something we can work on together! Now, let's go find Anakin."

Your heart leapt excitedly at that. Whenever Anakin, Obi-Wan and yourself collide, you're inevitably going to run into Captain Rex. No one in the entire galaxy knew about yours and Rex's relationship. It was unorthodox: a Clone and a Jedi, but you couldn't care less. You loved Rex so deeply, not even Master Windu could separate you two.

The other Padawan and their Masters glumly went back to their sparring. It was obvious they had their hopes that you'd defeat Obi-Wan. You secretly did too, but it didn't bother you much considering your mind was hyperfixating on the fact that you'll be seeing Rex soon!

Obi-Wan and yourself walked in synch down the halls of the Jedi Temple. Many Jedi passed; each of them bowing respectfully to Master Kenobi. He is well respected in the temple, which filled you with pride about being his apprentice. He hadn't trained another Padawan since Anakin became a Knight, so it's a huge responsibility to be his Padawan.

The two of you reached the doors in the temple that went outside. The sky had no clouds and there was a slight breeze: a gorgeous day. If you squinted hard enough, you could see the Coruscant Guard looping through the busy city. Beyond the temple stairs was a landing pad for ships, which is exactly where the 212th was waiting,

"General Kenobi and Commander (L/N)," Commander Cody greeted, saluting. He was way more serious than Rex was... of course, Rex was respectful to the Jedi, but Cody was overbearing. You didn't want him to salute you. In your eyes, you and Cody are equals,

"Morning, Cody," you smiled, clasping your hand on his armoured shoulder, "Not to skip the pleasantries, but I want to get this battle started."

Cody motioned for his men to start up the ship; a small, deep chuckle leaving his lips. This earned an annoyed, yet amused look from Obi-Wan. He was just as uptight as Cody. They were matched well.

"General Skywalker and Commander Tano are on Felucia," Cody continued while Master Kenobi and yourself climbed into one of the troop ships. You were surrounded by other members of the 212th as you rose into the sky, "They're resting now after a pretty brutal fight with the Seppies. They anticipate an attack soon, so we are going to provide support."

"Sounds good, Cody," Obi-Wan agreed while holding onto the upper bar of the ship, "Let's hurry in case the Separatists get antsy and attack early."

The ride was pretty smooth. No turbulence and zero unseen attacks. Your group arrived on Felucia within a few hours, and it was deathly quiet. Normally, the forests of Felucia were teeming with life, but today, not even the birds sang. It's like the world knew of the conflict and forced itself into hiding.

The 212th found the 501st very quickly. There was a little base put together on the side of a cliff with good tree cover. Anakin was always the best at thinking strategically. Now, they're guaranteed to only have the droids attack from one side thanks to the cliff,

"Nice to see you, Master!" Anakin exclaimed; walking over with Ahsoka and Rex as your ship landed, "I was beginning to think you weren't coming."

Obi-Wan chuckled and joined Anakin's side. Ahsoka wandered over to you and stood silently,
"It's bad, (Y/N)," she whispered unexpectedly, "They took our half of our men with these cannons I've never seen before. We were forced to retreat."

"Why didn't Master Skywalker tell us about this?" you whispered back, an edge of irritation appearing.

The Togruta shrugged, "You know Anakin. He thinks everything is under control. If you ask me, we're going to need further backup."

Before you could formulate a response, Captain Rex walked over and joined the two of you, "Commander Tano, Anakin said he wishes to speak with you."

Ashoka's face paled and she sighed, "I hope he didn't overhear my conversation with (Y/N)." She smiled and mouthed, 'pray for me.' All you could do was chuckle.

As the Togruta ran off, you turned to face Rex, "I know you too well. Anakin didn't need her, did he?"

"Nope," the Clone cheekily responded, popping the 'p' in nope, "I just had to see you. It's been... a lot. I've missed you."

You grabbed Rex's hand and silently pulled him away from the lingering Clones. Once the 501st and the 212th were out of sight, you pulled his face into yours.
God, you missed his touch. Just his presence put you in a better mood,
"God, Rex," you whispered, "It's unbelievable how much I've missed you. I don't realize how much I miss you until I have you in my arms again."

The Captain grabbed your face with his gloved hand and slowly stroked your cheek, "I am in total agreement with that statement. War is tough, but being away from you is tougher. I wish General Skywalker was chosen as your Master so I could see you more."

"Just be grateful that I was given to Obi-Wan and not someone like Quinlin Vos or Plo Koon," you muttered while looking at the setting sun begin to turn the clouds pinkish hues, "If that was the case, I'd never see you."

"Fair point," the Clone mumbled while pulling you into his chest. He was only about a head taller than you, but it was comforting nonetheless. You sometimes wished you were taller than Rex so he could experience the comfort of hugging someone taller. God, you love this man.

You pressed your lips to his once more; fireworks exploding behind your face. It felt as if you'd inhaled a sparkler and it resided in your brain now. Rex was simply intoxicating.
Suddenly, you felt eyes on the two of you. The hairs on the back of your neck rose, and your hand lingered down to your lightsaber.

Rex, seeing your movements, brought his hands from your face and down to his holstered weapons. He eyed you, and you motioned for him to stay quiet. Maybe the stranger hadn't noticed Rex... maybe they hadn't noticed the kissing. You prayed that it wasn't Obi-Wan or Anakin,

"Who's out there?" you shouted, your finger on the button of your lightsaber, "This is official Clone Wars business. Please show yourself before we force you to show yourself."

A few branches cracked expectantly as a man emerged from the heavy wooded area. Your heart slowly fluttered back to a normal pace compared to the adrenaline-driven one. It was only Commander Cody,

"What are you two doing so far from camp?" he asked; his voice muffled from behind his helmet, "The Generals are looking for you. And Rex, Commander Tano is looking for you specifically."
It's obvious Cody hadn't seen the two of you making out...

You felt Rex tense up uncomfortably, "I wonder what she wants."

Cody shrugged. He still glared at the two of you suspiciously, but thankfully, you and Rex had brilliant poker faces. The two of you had been dodging eyes for many rotations now.

Rex placed his helmet back on his head; his professional façade re-appearing. Cody was his superior after all.
The Commander took the lead back to camp; the air of suspicion still lingering around him. You stayed back beside Rex,

"I'm sorry our time was cut short," you whispered to him; squeezing his hand lovingly while Cody walked ahead, "I'm just happy I could hold you again, even if it was so suddenly interrupted."

"Don't apologize, my dear," he whispered right back; intertwining his fingers within yours, "We will have lots of time with each other again. With the tide of the war changing, hopefully we will be free again soon. We could run away to a distant planet and have something real together."

This struck a chord in you. You love Rex, sure. But, the Jedi Order is all you've ever known. To abandon it like that was such an unorthodox feeling. Yet, it felt right.
Obi-Wan would be so disappointed, though. You would've failed him if you decided to leave.

"Sure, Rex," you smiled, anxiety wracking through your body, "Once the Clone Wars ends with a Republic victory, then we will talk about this more."

You know Rex well. He knows you don't want to leave the Order... but he doesn't press the topic thankfully. You just want to live in the present. And by doing that, you have to appreciate what you have now: a loving boyfriend, a bountiful amount of friends, and a mentor who loves you as much as one can. You're so lucky, even if it is tied to this endless war.
So damn lucky.
