2nd POV

Years since the ending of the Clone Wars have passed. The news of your old companions' deaths crushed your heart and soul, yet you knew you would be dead too if you wouldn't have left when you did. The Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker, had strayed from his path on the lightside, and joined the Emperor; a Sith Lord. Your wife, the Daughter, mourned over the galaxy's loss since that day, and honestly, you didn't know how to help her.

You had your own issues to deal with as well. Post-Traumatic Stress wracked through your nights, causing restless sleeps and uneasy days. Memories of the past battles, innocent lives you've recklessly taken. The screams... This brought on frequent fighting and arguing between yourself and your wife,

"You couldn't begin to wrap your head around what I've been through. All I've done," you whispered, slowly raising your voice to a moderate shout, "Everything I've ever known, everyone I've ever loved is goneโ€” left as nothingness."

"Oh, and it would've been any different if the Separatists won the war?" the Daughter snapped back, "You have much more to fight for with our current situation! What about your daughter?"

You bit your lip, holding back a reply. She really couldn't understand all you've seen. During the war, she just sat all peaceful on her little planet before she met you, not even batting an eye at the conflict encasing the galaxy. This bothered you in particular, especially when she complained about how the galaxy had fallen to the dark side. If she would've intervened, she could've prevented it,

"Don't bring Elpรญda into this," you replied, your voice immediately lowering back down into a whisper at the mention of your child, "You're right, she's worth all the struggles, but that doesn't change the fact that I die everyday, reliving all my trauma and experiences while you sit by and do nothing."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  The Daughter frowns angrily, pushing her arms down by her side, "How dare you! If I could do something to help you with your pain, I would, but that's just beyond me. You're unbelievably selfish. What about what I'm going through? You ever think about that? You're such a Separatist."

"Mama? Papa?" a little voice echoed through the silence, "Why are you two fighting?"

Spinning around on your heel, you met eyes with your daughter, Elpรญda. She resembled your wife almost uncannily, but she didn't have the same shine to her. She also shared your (H/C) colored hair and your gorgeous eyes,

"We're just discussing some things, my angel," you whispered, walking over; scooping the seven-year-old up into your arms, "Did we wake you up?"

The young girl shook her head and leaned into your shoulder, closing her eyes, "No. I felt something scary in the force, papa."

Another aspect inherited from her mother. You're certain Elpรญda is force-sensitive, which frankly is ironic because of your lifelong hatred for the Jedi,

"What was it, my darling?" your wife questioned, her mood immediately changing from angry at you, to worried about her daughter.

Yawning tiredly, she tugged on your loosely-fitting shirt in a desperate attempt to get comfortable in your arms, "I saw a man in my dream. He had yellow eyes and there was a robot standing behind him. I think the robot was alive though. He was breathing, not clicking unlike most droids. They had red swords. They're coming to Mortis. I just know it... What does it means?"

"Go back to bed, my angel," you replied monotonously, shooting a glance at your wife, "Don't worry about it. It's probably nothing."

Your daughter nodded into your shoulder and slipped from your arms; tiredly walking back to her room at the end of the hall. As she left, you turned to your wife and shook your head, "Darth Vader. And the Emperor. Is it what we've feared?"

"They must've found her," the Daughter replied, biting her lip in fear, "What do we do?"

It wasn't a secret that the Empire was hunting down Jedi. With Vader and his Master's abilities to sense the force-sensitives, it's been a relatively difficult challenge to keep Elpรญda hidden, but you've been successful until now, "I'm getting too old to get into fire fights everyday like I used to."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "I could take Skywalker," your wife huffed, "I've met him once before. He's stronger now, no doubt, but he's only a third of what I am. The Emperor however... he's beyond anything I've ever encountered."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "We could always flee somewhere else. Skywalker knows of Mortis, so he'd expect her to be here with us," you suggested, "I'd rather us take a chance at fleeing rather than putting you in harm's way."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "You're very sweet, my love, but I will not abandon my planet," your wife stood firmly, "I'm the only one left of my family. If I leave, the planet will collapse."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Rubbing your chin, you wouldn't dare speak of what was on your mind. Frankly you didn't give a shit whether the planet lived or died. You just wanted your wife and daughter to live out safe and healthy lives. There was no more time to argue. Shrieking, horrendous sounds echoed through the clearing. Tie-Fighters by the sound of it,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "Honey, I don't think it's up for debate," you gulped, peering out of the window; lighting striking angrily at the intruders. Even the planet was displeased.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  The Daughter frowned and crossed her arms across her chest, "I won't abandon my planet. Not even the Empire can pry it from my grip."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "You taught me to let go of pride all those years ago," you practically begged as the Tie-Fighters got closer and closer, "It's time for you to let go too. The planet will be fine, and if it isn't, it's just a rock. Elpรญda and I need you now."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  She grabbed your hand and squeezed lovingly; pins and needles spreading through your hand, "My love, I hate to say you're right, but I can give you and our child a chance. I'm not like you. I have ties to this planet and regardless of what happens to me, if this planet dies, I might as well have died just the same. Take Elpรญda and go to somewhere warm. Remember me."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "You're talking nonsense. You won't die if the planet does?" you snapped, yet you knew she was right. She wasn't anything like you. When her father and brother died, the planet suffered harshly as did sheโ€” became unbalanced. Her ties to the planet were detrimental, and regardless, if you took her away, what husband would you be? A terrible one at that.

"All those years ago when I met the young Skywalker, I sensed an unbridled hatred towards Tatooine," she mouthed, ignoring your pleads of reason, "You'll take our daughter there. I sense not even the Emperor could make him go there."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Grabbing her hand lovingly, you shook your head, suddenly angry, "If I'm going to be in charge of giving our daughter a fighting chance, I'm not leaving without trying for you too. You're the glue in our little family, and we're escaping together."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Your wife seemed to fall into a daze, watching an approaching ship, "Perhaps we should try your way, but if it means sacrificing myself for you and our daughter, I'll gladly take on the Empire myself."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  "Same goes for me," you smiled, happy you could finally talk some sense into her, yet you feared it was too late. Many ships had landed on the surface of the planet; thunder erupting angrily throughout the sky.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  You left your wife's grip and found your child, silently crying while looking out her window and into the night. She was annoyingly smart and knew what was going on,

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "Are we going to die?" she asked, not prying her eyes away from the ship-filled sky, "Is the Empire going to take me away from you?"

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "Not if I have any say about it," you whispered, scooping the small girl up into your arms, and racing back out to your wife, who had the same scared, yet determined look her daughter had only moments before, "We need to move fast. If we're lucky, Windu's ship should still work from all those years ago."

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  The only reason you're alive now is because of Mace Windu's ship. Yet again, the irony is painful, because he was the one who brought you to justice. If luck is on your side, the unused ship will still have some life after all these years.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Stormtroopers were already swarming the grounds. They were armed with lethal blasters and the determination of the Clones who once claimed reign over the galaxy. Vader and his Master were hidden amongst the endless armored men, unseen by any of you.

Grabbing all of your essentials, you flung your old Bo-Rifle over your shoulder. The feeling of your old weapon in your hands once again sent goosebumps up your body. You knew this would be your last fight. Would it be a victory or a loss? You couldn't decide,

"Now, honey," your wife whispered to your child, "You must stay quiet at all costs. Try to cut off all connections to the force. If Vader can sense your life force, the entire Empire Army will come after us. We will be unable to escape."

She was always rather blunt, but sometimes that was how things needed to be. Your daughter sniffles and nodded, snuggling into your chest. The air outside was painfully muggy, almost to the point of suffocation. You could see the shipโ€” an easy sprint in one direction, but strategy was in order.

Four troopers were posted by the ship; their guns pressed tightly to their chests. The rest of Vader's battalion were swiftly marching towards your home, so you had no choice but to make a run towards the ship and the small defense lined up with it.

Handing your child to your wife, you slung your weapon off your back, loading it. The three of you then began maneuvering through the angry planet. Lightning clapped the ground around you, sending sprays of sparks and fire onto surrounding trees, causing blackened smoke to fill the air.

Fortunately, this proved an advantage for you. Using the smoke as cover, you crept ahead; sliding a small knife from your boot. With your daughter and your wife out of harm's reach, you slammed your knife roughly into the first trooper's neck, killing him instantly. You knew this would alert both the troopers surrounding the ship, and the members of Vaders' personal battalion,

"What the hell?" one of the troopers choked out, pulling his blaster out.l, but you were faster, slashing his ankle out. As the man painfully fell to the ground, you plunged your knife into his stomach, leaving him writhing in pain.

Slipping your knife back into your boot, you shot the other two in the stomach with your Bo-Rifle; the shots ringing out through the clearing. As the last troopers fell, your family emerged into the clearing, approaching the ship, "We need to hurry," you whispered, placing your hand on your wife's shoulder, guiding her to the ship.

As you got the door opened, you noticed a red flash out of the corner of your eye. A knot formed in your throat. Instantly you knew it to be Sith Lord, Darth Vader himself,

"Hurry!" you shouted, shoving the pair onto the ship; quickly locating the cockpit. In a mild panic, you laid your weapon down and attempted to get the ship started with little success, "Goddamn it!" you shouted as the ship sputtered and spat weakly, "This was our only hope!"

The Daughter laid her hand on your shoulder; kissing your forehead, "Let me try."

Moving over, you picked your weapon up again and glanced out the front window. Vader and his forces were advancingโ€” quicker now at the sight of the ship. The Daughter was focusing, putting all of her energy into fueling the ship. All at once, with a grunt, the ship lit up with the same energy the Daughter had.

Vader quickened to a jog; his forces swarming the body of the ship. Bringing the ship up into the air, you ignored the immense blaster-fire engulfing the ship. You needed to get your family off Mortis regardless of the cost. Dodging through lightning and the endless smoke became the only threat as you exited orbit, and into open space...

Flying into hyperspace, you finally let go of a breath you've seemingly been holding for hours. Turning to your wife, she wasn't smiling. No, she didn't seem happy at all,

"What's wrong?" you asked, laying your weapon on the floor.

"He let us go," she whispered, "Almost like he's toying with us. Making us think we got away safely. He will find us again."

"We will be ready next time," you commented, turning to your child, "I say we go into hiding like you suggested. You could train her to be a Jedi."

Your wife shook her head monotonously, "I'm not Jedi."

"You're more of a Jedi than I," you replied, grabbing her hand once more, "I have faith we can raise her to be happy and self-officiant. We just have to try."

"So be it," she whispered, seemingly at ease with this conclusion, "To Tatooine we go then."
