SKY

When I woke up this morning I felt tired just like every Monday morning but after a cup of iced coffee, I felt better.

Today was the first game of basketball season. It seemed to be a very important game for the school and Alexander was the talk of the entire school as he was the best player on the team. He was one of the best players in the entire state, apparently.

Something made me want to wear something other than black that day, and it took a whole lot of courage for me to decide on wearing a jean skirt with a simple white t-shirt with my converse. I let half of my hair down and tied the rest of it up in a ponytail.

When my mom yelled at me from downstairs, telling me it was time to go, I poured myself another iced coffee in a to go cup and left.

We stayed in silence in the car until she broke it.

"So you're tutoring Alex Scott?" She asked me, and I felt my heart beat fast at the sound of his name.

I had spent pretty much all weekend thinking about him, much to my displeasure.

"Yeah." I said.

"Be careful with that one. I know he's handsome and all but don't get involved with him. He is bad news." She warned me in a motherly way

"Bad news?"

"Mark knows his family very well. He's been into a lot of legal trouble. Assaults mostly."

I had never seen him be violent on another person. He was quite the delinquent, and clearly had a temper, but assaulting someone was news to me. I couldn't believe it but it was really not that surprising.

"Just be careful. What's you're doing is great, just don't do anything else." She warned me.

I shrugged her off and looked out the window again and watched birds and cars until we got to school.

"Bye!" I said, hopping out of the car.

"Hey, honey. I love your outfit by the way." My mother beamed, smiling from ear to ear.

I rolled my eyes playfully and started walking towards school. Morning classes went by quickly, so when lunch came around, I met with Elena at the cafeteria.

She was beautiful as always, and wore white from head to toe. She wore a long white skin tight dress and white fur sandals and has a cute white flower in her hair. Her makeup was gorgeous, with butterfly wings she drew on the corner of her eyes.

"Hey Girl." She greeted me, and hugged me as I was sitting down. "Oh my gosh, I'm starving."

"You want an apple?" I offered, taking out an apple from my bag.

"I'm on a liquid diet." She shook her head. I put my apple away and laughed.

Elena was already so slim, and it was ridiculous for her to be on a diet. Then again, I couldn't blame her for the want to be 'perfect' and falling short of the crazy beauty standards.

I looked over and noticed noise coming from the other side of the cafeteria. It was a group of students including Alexander, Angela and other guys from the basketball team.

Her eyes met mine and her blue orbs held vindictiveness and meanness.

I saw her reach to kiss his cheek which he dodged it and she acted like she never tried to kiss him.

I laughed evilly and took a bite of my fries.

"What are you laughing at?" Elena asked, breaking me out of my trance. Her big eyes stared at me and I shook my head.

"Were you staring at Alex?" She exposed, her lips forming into a smile. "You totally like him."

I almost gagged as the words left Elana's mouth and l shook my head.

"Just be aware." She began. "If you ever get involved with him, know that he doesn't date, at all. Most girls at this school found this out the hard way."

I frowned, looking up at Alexander again. Angela was sitting next to him on a separate chair, and he seemed to be busy on his phone as she was telling him something.

"I thought they were dating." I pointed out, looking at Alexander and Angela.

"No." Elena's friend stated. "They've been hooking up on and off since freshman year. But he never wants to be official with her."

I nodded and switched subjects because I didn't want to talk about anything that involved Angela or Him.

The game was extremely close, and everyone seemed to be at the edge of their seats. We cheered for them a few times, but saved the best cheer for last.

Each team had ninety three points, and half of those had to be solely Alexander's points. He was extremely good, and all eyes were on him.

The opposite team had a cheerleading team as well. They kept on giving us cold looks in their purple and white uniforms.

Summerside seemed to really be all about basket ball. All the audience in the school colours on their bodies and faces showed just that.

The fifteen minute break started and we waited until the last two minutes before getting on the court.

Everyone looked up from what they were doing as we cheered everyone on to make noise. I remembered to smile wide as I stood tall with my fists on my hips.

I was in pure agony, but a fake smile would cover it up.

We began to start our beat with our feet and hands, and everyone seemed to be enjoying it.

The basketball team was at the bench, listening to their coach.

Alexander then turned around to look at us, and had his eyes on someone in my direction.

Looking back, I assumed that he had his eyes on Angela but she was nowhere near my direction. So, he was looking at me.

"GO SHS! GO SHS! GO SHS! SHS WE RUN THIS GAME!" We repeated in sync, not failing from stomping our feet and making the beat and the chants go together.

After our chant, the three girls at the front, which are Elena, Lilly and I, started our choreography while the rest of the girls continued the chant.

I was shy doing the choreography, because it was sort of provocative. Lilly instigated that being sexy, will result in all eyes on us.

Embarrassed, I turned with a jump and dipped down to my ankles before getting up slowly, my hands sliding up my legs. He held a shocked expression as he watched me. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me, but I even saw him lick his lips.

When our cheer ended, everyone in the gym cheered for us loudly and clapped their hands.

"GO SHS!" I cheered one last time, before I started to make my way back on the bleachers.

Before I could even process the embarrassment I just went through in front of the whole school, I fell on my knees on the hard waxed gym floor. When I looked up at Angela laughing at me before leaving the gym, I realized she tripped me.

I ignored the few laughs at me and followed her out, my head fuming.

She was standing there drinking water from her pink bottle and put it down when she saw me.

"What the hell is your problem with me?" I exclaimed, holding my hands behind me so she couldn't see how much I was shaking.

She laughed in my face. "I don't have a problem. I simply don't like you."

"Why?" I asked. I really didn't want to sound desperate but I needed to know the reason why she hated me so much, and why she tried to push my buttons every time she had the chance.

She took a step close to me. "You don't deserve to be on the team. You walk around like you're the cutest girl here, someone needs to let you know that you don't belong here. Along with your gold digger of a mom."

I was hurt.

I didn't know what to say to her.

When she flipped her ponytail in my eyes and walked away with her head held high, I let out a surrendering scoff and reached for her tight ponytail when I was snatched from my waist.

I was completely confused and my anger was through the roof but I turned around to see who the hell held me back from almost winning against her.

Those green eyes stared down at me with an angered expression.

"You're not fighting her." Alexander warned.
