"Ready to go?" I ask as I walk into Grayson's office quickly. He has a new shirt on and is straightening it out when I look at him.

"Yeah." He says, grabbing his wallet from his desk and following me out of the room. "Where to?" He asks.

"Let's just go downstairs and get a sandwich or something. Oh! Or we could go next door to that little smoothie place." I offer.

"I'm fine with either one." He shrugs.

"Do you like smoothies?" I ask.

"Kind of, yeah." He answers with a brisk nod.

"Well, that place has amazing smoothies. I'm sure you already know that, though." I add. Of course he already knows. He's been here for longer than I have. I'm sure he has had every single thing on their menu.

"I've actually never been inside. I've always had it delivered." He states.

"Why? It would take longer for them to deliver it than it would be for you to just walk downstairs to get it." I point out.

"I usually have everything delivered to me." He mumbles. "I prefer staying in rather than going out." He adds.

"Oh." I say with a nod. "Why?" I ask.

"I don't really like interacting with people unless need be." He informs me.

"Can I ask why?" I ask gently.

"I just don't really relate to most people." He says nonchalantly.

"I get that." I reply with a small nod. "I don't really like talking to people, either." I say with a small laugh, trying to lift the weird mood.

"I'm sure you're much better at it than I am." He says with a small smile.

Instead of adding to this conversation, I quickly change the subject to something that he might find easier to talk about.

"So, your sister is in town?" I ask, face turning red at the embarrassment that still remains at my quick assumption earlier.

"Yeah. She's moving back to LA. She's staying with me until she finds an apartment. We were supposed to go and look at places tomorrow." He says, his mood instantly changing. I can see the admiration in his eyes when he speaks of her. I remember him telling me that they were close, but this is completely apparent now.

"That's awesome. Where was she thinking about moving to?" I ask.

"I think she wants to stay pretty local. Probably somewhere in my complex." He says.

"Oh wow." I say with surprise. This entire family must be insanely rich if not one, but two of the children will be staying in an apartment that cost more than my entire life.

"I offered for her to just move into my place, but I think she wants her own space." He shrugs.

"I'm sure you probably want your own space, too. You know, in case you bring people over or whatever." I add.

"I don't ever have anyone over." He replies simply.

"Well...the same goes for her." I add. "Anyways, it can be hard living with your siblings at times. I'm close with my brother, but I don't want to live with him. Which he clearly doesn't know how to process because he's been begging me to move in with him and his wife." I say with a small laugh, rolling my eyes at the thought of living with Nathaniel.

"Why would he want you to live with him if he is married?" He asks.

"I don't know. I think he misses the family a lot of the time, but things are just...difficult." I shrug. "Plus, he's pretty far from home."

"Wait, he wants you to live with him?" He asks.

"Yeah, he does. He's been asking me for awhile."

"You're not going to...right?" He asks in a shy voice.

"Move to Miami? No." I reply with a chuckle.

He nods at my reply and smiles sweetly at me.

"Good." He adds. "I don't think I want you to leave."

I feel my cheeks flush and feel the urge to cover them immediately. I quickly look down as we walk, not wanting him to see the bright red that covers my face.

"Gray! Hold up!" We hear as we turn around and see Shane jogging towards us.

"Hi?" Grayson says with confusion, stopping to wait for Shane to approach.

"Change of plans." He says with a bright smile. "Sofia and I are actually going to be eating with the two of you." He says with a clap of his hands. He has a face that tells me that this is something he doesn't think we'll be okay with.

"Sofia?" Grayson asks with a small cringe.

"Yeah, she really wants to have lunch with you there. Plus, she wants to meet Natalia." He adds, gesturing to me.

"I would be fine with them coming. I mean, as long as it's okay with you?" I say, pulling Grayson's attention from Shane back to me.

"Are you sure?" He asks nervously.

"Yeah! Absolutely!" I say with a bright smile. Honestly, I want to meet his sister. Well, formally meet her. Something about her seems so...different from Grayson. I want a small peek into his life. I'm sure she's the perfect way to view it, too.

"Okay. Well...do you want to meet us there? We were going to go to that smoothie place." Grayson tells him.

"Yeah, that's fine. I'm going to meet her right now. We'll see you guys over there." He says as he jogs back in the direction of where I'm assuming Sofia must be.

"Are you sure this is okay? I know it's kind of last minute and all." He asks me nervously as we continue walking.

"Yeah, for sure. I would love to meet your sister. I feel like our first interaction wasn't the best." I say with a slight cringe. I am so mortified that I got to jealous over someone who literally turned out to be his sister.

"What do you mean?" He asks.

"I just felt like I was being rude that night that I saw the two of you...I'm sorry about that, by the way." I add.

"I couldn't tell." He shrugs.

"Oh." I say, "But still...sorry. I really thought she was your girlfriend or something. That's embarrassing." I laugh, trying my hardest to play the entire thing off.

"Shane is trying to date her." Grayson blurts out.

"Really?" I ask with a laugh.

"Yeah." He says. "I think they kind of had a thing over Christmas break...but I don't really know. He told me that he was going to ask her out on a date."

"And are you okay with that?" I ask.

"Yeah, I am. Shane is a good guy." He says with a nod of his head, as though he's agreeing with himself.

"He seems like it." I say. "I don't know, sometimes that can just be kind of weird. I remember when I was younger, I used to date my brother's friend. It got really awkward for the two." I say.

"Really?" He asks. "Why?"

"Well...dating is different, clearly. I mean, when you date someone there is usually an attraction that you have to that person. And sometimes that attraction made my brother feel really uncomfortable. Especially since I'm his baby sister." I say.

I remember when Nathaniel punched my ex boyfriend in the face once he found out we had sex. He was absolutely mortified. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, really. I feel like this is something I probably shouldn't tell my boss, though.

"An attraction?" He asks.

"Yeah...you know." I say, trying my hardest to avoid saying what the real issue might hold.

He gives me a confused look and waits for me to continue.

"Like...a sexual attraction." I say awkwardly.

"Oh!" He says, looking away from me and down at his feet as we walk. "I guess I didn't really think about it like that." He mumbles, more to himself than to me.

"I mean, I wouldn't worry too much about any of that!" I say quickly, feeling bad for even putting the thought in his head.

"Gray!" We hear behind us once more. I see Sofia running towards us with Shane laughing behind her.

Grayson's smile brightens as his sister approaches us, engulfing him in a hug that takes him by surprise.

"You must be Natalia! It's so good to finally meet you. You know, officially." She says, beaming the kindest smile at me.

"It's so nice to meet you, too!" I exclaim, as she suddenly pulls me in for a hug.

"She's a hugger." Shane says when he finally catches up to us. "A little ball of energy." He says with a smile.

Sofia rolls her eyes at his comment and then turns her attention back to Grayson.

"We were going to just meet you guys there, but I'm not patient." Sofia laughs. When I finally get a good look at her, I see that she actually looks a lot like Grayson. Except...younger and female. Their facial features and eye color are exactly the same. They probably have the same natural hair color, too.

"Trust me, I know." Grayson teases, leading us towards the entrance. "We're just grabbing something quick to eat." He tells her.

"Yeah, some of us still have to work." Shane adds, giving her a knowing look.

"Hey! I work! I just don't work right now." She says innocently.

"Yeah, so we're going to be paying for you while you're here." Shane points out with a laugh.

"I think my presence is worth it." She says with a smirk.

"You've got me there." He agrees.

I love the little bickering between the two of them. I can practically see the spark with them, and honestly they would make a really cute couple.

"So, Natalia. How long have you been working for my brother?" Sofia asks, changing the topic.

"Not too long." I say. "Only a few months or so."

"Do you like it?" She asks.

"I love it." I say with a smile.

"What do you do, again? Sorry, i've just never really seen anyone else on that floor except Grayson and Shane." She tells me.

"She's an engineer and she's interning for me." Grayson answers for me. "She actually has a new app she's working on for me."

"Really?! That's so cool! What kind of app is it?" She asks.

"It's a workout app." I say, suddenly feeling self conscious about my app.

"Ooh that's so cool! We always need new workout apps. Every one i've been on sucks." She says, rolling her eyes. "Plus, I need to find a gym here or something. Tryouts for the dance team are coming up soon, and I need to definitely work on my floor routine." She adds.

"Dance team?" Grayson asks.

"Oh! I didn't tell you! I'm trying out to be a dancer for the LA Clippers!" She exclaims with excitement.

Shane pulls a seat out for her as we approach our table, looking surprised at her comment.

"You want to be an NBA dancer?" He asks. "Do you even watch basketball?" He asks.

"Yes and yes." She says. "Plus, I think I would be really good at it." She shrugs.

"You'll get it." Grayson says.

"That's honestly so cool." I tell her. "I danced in high school and then a little bit in college. I definitely can't do it anymore. If you are still in practice, definitely go for it!" I tell her.

"See, at least she supports me!" She says, giving Shane an accusatory stare. "Thanks, Natalia." She tells me with a smile.

"Nat?" I hear behind me. When I turn around and see Brian standing near the smoothie counter, my smile grows wide.

"Brian!" I say, getting out of my seat and walking towards him. I feel Grayson's eyes on me as I walk towards him, but the small smile I offer him before leaving seems to ease him in a way.

"Hey, I totally thought that was you." He says, offering me a hug.

"Yeah! We were all just grabbing something to eat before we went back to work." I tell him. He looks over to our little table and nods towards Sofia.

"Who is the blonde?" He asks curiously.

"That's Grayson's sister, Sofia." I tell him.

"That makes a lot of sense, now. I've seen her around before but everyone assumed he was sleeping with her. Kind of gross now that I think about it." He laughs.

"Oh trust me, I thought the same thing." I reply. When I look at Brian's face, he looks absolutely exhausted. He takes a sip from the coffee in his hand, confirming my suspicion. "Are you okay? You look exhausted." I ask.

"It's that bad, yeah?" He asks.

"No! You just look tired, that's all."

"I am tired." He groans, running a hand over his face. "I found out that i'm going to be a father last night." He says with mock excitement.

"Oh my God! Brian, that's amazing! Congrats!" I say, pulling him in for a hug.

"Thanks, Nat. Yeah, it's definitely exciting. But it's also super stressful. So i've been working on my app all day to try and at least get runner up." He says.

"Hey, you don't know that. I think you have a great chance of winning." I tell him honestly.

"If anyone is going to win, it'll be you. You already have a leg up in this whole thing. No one is going to be surprised if you win." He says, reaching for the smoothie that gets placed on the counter in front of us.

I feel my heart sink a little bit at his words. The only reason I have a leg up in any of this is because I work as Grayson's intern. As far as the app goes, Brian's is much better than mine and all of the others are much better and more experienced engineers.

"I don't think Grayson picks favorites." I say, crossing my arms over my chest as insecurity takes over.

"He definitely sees something in you or in your app." He points out.

"Do you really think I'm only a finalist because he sees something in me?" I ask quietly. I know i'm not as experienced as the other men here, and I know that they have years at this company over me, but I do believe my app is something worth considering.

"No! No, Nat. That's not what i'm trying to say." He says with wide and panicked eyes when he sees the sadness in my own. "This all came out wrong. That's not what I meant. I meant that he sees something in you. As in potential. He either sees potential in you or in your app. Hell, he probably sees the potential in both! I see it, so i'm sure he does too." He says quickly.

"Really?" I ask quietly.

"Yes. I'm sorry it all came out badly. That's not what I meant when I said that, I promise." He assures me.

"Okay." I mumble in reply, picking at the skin around my fingernails gently.

"Listen, i'm just trying to beat all of these other guys. Their lame apps are nothing compared to ours." He teases. "Plus, even if I only get runner up, i'll still be considered for future projects. And with a baby on the way, I guess I need it now more than ever." He shrugs.

"I think you'll still win." I tell him. He smiles at me and then nods over to our table.

"You should probably get back to them." He tells me. "I can come up later today if you want? Maybe I can help you go over the coding?" He offers.

I smile at him, knowing that no matter what he said, he does want the best for me. His words just came out the wrong way. Despite his own need to win, he is willing to help me with a genuine attitude.

"For sure. Thanks, Brian. I'll see you later." I say before walking back towards my table. As I take a seat, I notice a couple of smoothies already sitting in-front of us.

"I ordered you a strawberry banana smoothie. I didn't actually know what you would like, though." Grayson says. It takes me a moment to register what he says as Brian's words swirl through my head. "If you don't want it, I can order you a new one." He says quickly.

"No, no. I love this one. Thank you." I assure him. He nods but glances back over to me, almost studying my face.

"Are you okay?" He asks quietly as Shane and Sofia get lost in their own conversation.

"Yeah, i'm fine." I assure him, plastering the best fake smile onto my face as I can.

I see Brian walking out of the door and instantly feel the guilt pass over me. Although he says he didn't mean what he said, I know that ultimately everything he said is true.
