Got an extra long chapter for you, so be prepared 🙃

***

It was the day before the graduation ceremony.

After the prior week of nonstop exams, Jungkook had planned on resting for the remaining days.

Instead he found himself boxing up all his belongings to put them in storage while he was gone for the summer. He and Taehyung decided to split the cost and put their things together.

Jungkook was going through his drawers, deciding on what to take with him and what to put in storage. Everything else was pretty much already taken care of.

Taehyung was going through their shared closet, helping Jungkook pack up the rest of his clothes since he was already done with his things. It wasn't hard to pack when you didn't have much to begin with.

Jungkook suddenly looks over as Taehyung curses out loud.

"What?" He asks, looking confused when Taehyung pulls out his outfit from the night of the dance.

"Are you wearing this tomorrow?" Taehyung asks.

Jungkook nods, watching as Taehyung looks pained. "Why?"

"I just realized I have nothing nice to wear for tomorrow." Taehyung says, carefully placing the outfit back into the closet.

"We can go shopping." Jungkook suggests.

Taehyung shakes his head. "I couldn't afford it."

"I'll pay for it." Jungkook offers.

"No- no, I couldn't let you do that. I'll just...find something." Taehyung mumbles the last part to himself, looking upset.

"Your always doing things for me. Let me do this for you- please Tae." Jungkook adds quickly when he sees the older boy open his mouth to object.

"I..fine." Taehyung says softly, unable to help a smile from stretching across his face at the grin on Jungkook's.

"We can even get lunch while we're out. Besides, I wanted to get a new bag for my trip." Jungkook says.

Taehyung looks at Jungkook's box full of really nice bags, some with the tags still on but he doesn't say anything.

It must be nice, being that rich, he thinks to himself.

Jungkook walks over to the desk, grabbing his phone and wallet.

Taehyung grabs his own phone and wallet, slipping them into his back pockets.

"Ok, lets go." Jungkook says brightly.

***

Jungkook and Taehyung found themselves weighed down with bags by the time they stopped to get some lunch at the food court.

Jungkook got carried away with the shopping, buying to really nice outfits for Taehyung- even though Taehyung asked him numerous times to put the second one away- along with additional clothes he really didn't need and two new bags. He also bought Taehyung a pair of really nice dress shoes after Taehyung let it slip that he didn't have any shoes to wear with the outfits.

Taehyung insisted on buying lunch after all that shopping so he went to go get their food while Jungkook found them a table.

Jungkook eyes the food excitedly as Taehyung sits the tray down.

"I'm so hungry." He says as he waits for Taehyung to grab his food before he grabs his.

"I bet you are after all that shopping." Taehyung replies jokingly.

They sit in silence for awhile after that, enjoying their meals.

Taehyung looks up as Jungkook clears his throat.

"So...what're you doing for the break?" Jungkook asks.

"I dunno. I'll probably just go home, try and get a job and work during the break." Taehyung replies.

"Is your family not well off?" Jungkook asks gently.

"You could call us poor," Taehyung says, smiling at the look on Jungkook's face. "It's ok Kook, I'm not offended. It's the truth anyways."

They sit in silence again, Taehyung watching Jungkook push a piece of broccoli around on his plate.

"So..What time is your flight leaving on Friday?" Taehyung asks, just to break the tension.

Jungkook glances at him before resuming his actions.

"9:55 am, I think." Jungkook says.

"You're going to Paris first, right?"

Jungkook nods. "I should get there Sunday, sometime around 2:00pm."

"That's a long flight; especially by yourself." Taehyung says.

Jungkook shrugs. "If these past few months have taught me anything, it's how to be completely alone while being surrounded with people."

Taehyung feels a pang in his heart at Jungkook's words. Granted, if Taehyung had been in Jimin's shoes he'd be mad too. But if he could only see how much Jungkook loved him...

Taehyung suddenly looks up, snapping out of his thoughts as Jungkook's hand fits over his own on the table.

"I'll be ok, ok? Don't worry." Jungkook says reassuringly, a light smile ghosting his lips.

Taehyung smiles lightly too. "Ok."

"Ugh, I cant go anywhere with you Jungkook. Your dressing Taehyung now too? The both of you make me look I got my outfit from a supermarket." Hoseok huffs as he, Taehyung and Jungkook walk across the aisles to their seats.

Jungkook laughs. "No you don't Hyung."

"Taehyung is wearing Christian Dior and your freaking wearing Gucci! Yes I do." Hoseok snaps back, looking slightly irked as Jungkook continues to laugh.

They sit in their seats, Jungkook sitting comfortably in between the two of them.

"Just think about it; it'll be you walking across that stage this time next year." Jungkook says once they've settled in.

"I know. I can't wait." Hoseok replies.

"You know you'll miss me." Jungkook says.

"Don't you mean you'll miss me?" Hoseok retorts.

"No." Jungkook replies, grinning at the look on Hoseok's face and they continue round and round like that, joking and laughing with eachother until the ceremony begins.

Taehyung watched Jungkook admiringly the whole while, trying not to be too obvious about it.

He wished, not for the first time, that Jungkook were his. He wished he could wrap his arms around him, wished he could pull up the armrest between them and pull the younger boy onto his lap, wrapping his arms around his tiny waist while placing his chin into the crook of his neck where it fit so well.

Instead, he watched from the side, interjecting into the conversation every once in awhile. Even though Hoseok didn't glare at him when he tried to speak anymore, Taehyung was still careful not to overstep his boundaries.

They watched the seniors walk across the stage, cheering when Jin and Yoongi walked across the stage. Hoseok also cheered for a couple other fourth years he knew and Jungkook cheered along, which Taehyung found adorable.

The whole ceremony lasted close to three hours and by the time it was over, everyone was famished.

Hoseok texts Yoongi and Jin to meet them outside as they slowly exit the building.

"You know, I just realized something." Jungkook says as they finally step outside.

"What's that Kook?" Hoseok replies.

"That I'm going to graduate by myself." Jungkook says, looking slightly upset.

Without really thinking about it, Taehyung pulls Jungkook close, tickling his sides and smiling when the younger boy giggles.

"You don't think we'll be there to see you graduate?" Taehyung says.

"Even Jin will be there, if he's not too busy being a chef." Hoseok says.

"I'll be where?"

They all look up to see Jin standing there, looking proud as he held his degree in hand.

"Congrats Hyung." Jungkook says with a bright smile.

"Thanks." Jin raises his eyebrow as Taehyung wraps his arms around Jungkook- and Jungkook looks up at him with a small smile- but doesn't say anything.

"Ready to go out to dinner Hyung?" Hoseok says.

"You know I am. I'm starving-"

"Hyung!"

Jungkook's stomach drops as soon as he hears the voice. His smile withers away as he looks up to see Jimin heading their away, hand in hand with one of the guys he introduced Jungkook to at the dance- Taemin.

Jimin doesn't even spare Jungkook a glance, making the sudden awkward and tense situation even worse.

"Hey Jimin." Jin replies easily.

"Congratulations Jin." Jimin says, holding out a money envelope.

"Thanks." Jin smiles warmly as he accepts the gift, bowing slightly to Jimin who does the same in return.

Taehyung holds Jungkook a bit tighter but Jungkook wrestles out of his hold, taking a timid step towards Jimin as the older boy turns to walk away.

"Jimin; can we talk? Please?" Jungkook says quietly, sounding nervous.

Taehyung grits his teeth, wanting to punch Jimin as he turns and gives Jungkook an indifferent and slightly annoyed look.

"Fine." He says as he lets go of Taemin's hand.

The trio walk off- with Taemin heading back over to his and Jimin's friends- leaving Taehyung alone with Jungkook's friends.

Both of which were staring Taehyung down the moment Jungkook walked away.

"You two seem awfully close now." Jin says after a moment.

"Y-Yeah, well.." Taehyung trails off, not really sure what to say. "We're just friends."

"You know, I've actually been really impressed with him. He's really been there for Jungkook these past few months." Hoseok says.

"Good. Make sure he doesn't jump into another relationship quickly." Jin says, the warning lacing his words evident to Taehyung.

In short, Jin doesn't want Taehyung to make a move on Jungkook.

Taehyung just nods, unable to meet his gaze.

***

They wait on Jungkook to come back, long after most of the other people have already left.

Everyone was worried- and hungry- until Hoseok got a text from Jungkook telling them to go on without him.

"Maybe they're working things out." Hoseok says as they walk over to the parking lot.

That thought makes Taehyung's stomach twist up in knots. If Jimin decides to take Jungkook back, Jungkook would take him back in a heartbeat. And Taehyung would never get the chance to make Jungkook his.

Taehyung didn't have much of an appetite after that, but he didn't want to see rude so he ate, keeping quiet and listening as Jungkook's friends talked to eachother.

He had to ride back to the dorms with Jin and that car ride was tense and extremely awkward.  They didn't look at eachother once as they walked into the building.

"Tell Jungkook to text me if he's in the room." Jin says as Taehyung walks over to the elevator.

"Ok-" Taehyung starts to say but Jin had already disappeared into his room.

Taehyung rides the elevator up to his floor and walks down the hallway nervously, hoping Jungkook really is in their room.

A wave of relief washes over him as he hears sniffling on the other side of the door. The feeling quickly turns to concern as he takes in Jungkook's ruffled clothes and overall messy appearance. His eyes and nose are red, and he had tear tracks scissoring across his face.

"Jungkook, what happened?" Taehyung asks as he walks over to him, kneeling beside the younger boy.

Jungkook only shakes his head, wiping his eyes on the back of his sweater sleeves.

Taehyung sat on the bed beside Jungkook, wrapping his arms around the younger, holding him until he calmed down and stopped crying.

"What happened?" Taehyung asks again.

"We talked. I told him everything that happened...between us. And..I told him...I never once thought of it as cheating because I was honestly doing it for him, y'know? He told me that he wasn't really dating Taemin, and that he still loved me but he couldn't forgive me for all the..sexual things I've done with you."

Taehyung presses his lips together, not quite sure what to say.

"He kissed me one last time and then I kinda threw myself at him." Jungkook admits a bit shyly.

"Y-you did what?" Taehyung stutters out in surprise, feeling a shiver go through him as Jungkook buries his face in Taehyung's chest and grips onto his shirt.

"I know, I know it was stupid and desperate." Jungkook groans out.

"Jungkook," Taehyung says, making the younger boy look up at him. "You know...you would never have to worry about being alone again if.."

"If?" Jungkook hedges when Taehyung trails off.

"If...you..were with me." Taehyung finishes quietly, unable to look Jungkook in the eye.

"Taehyung."

Taehyung takes a deep breath to prepare himself before looking at Jungkook, surprised to see the younger boy smiling.

"Yes, Kook?"

"Come to Paris with me; and Italy and the States- please."

"I-I...what?" Taehyung breathes out, not expecting that at all.

"Come on my trip with me. Please?" Jungkook begs cutely, making his eyes go big and round as he clasps his hands together.

Taehyung smirks alittle, watching Jungkook in amusement.

"What?" Jungkook asks after a moment.

"It's just...I just realized how much you've grown since we first met. Do you remember? You could hardly look me in the eye and you always blushed; you were so shy back then." Taehyung replies.

Jungkook smiles, looking alittle embarrassed. "Yeah I know."

Taehyung and Jungkook regard eachother for a moment, almost like they were seeing eachother for the first time.

"Say I said yes. Isn't it too late to book another ticket?" Taehyung asks.

"I...well, no but we don't even need to worry about that."

"Hm? Why not?" Taehyung asks.

"Because...I'm taking my families private jet. It's the only way my parents would let me go." Jungkook adds quickly, like that somehow makes it normal.

Taehyung frowns. "You have a private jet?"

"I have a whole floor to my house back at home that's just mine. Yes, we have a private jet; d-does that bother you?" Jungkook asks, looking worried as he bites his lip.

"What? No of course not," Taehyung says while thinking of his parents small shabby studio apartment where he was raised. "It's just different."

"I think my parents planned to have a lot of kids but then they had me and realized how much work having a child was and decided not to have anymore. That's how I ended up with a whole floor to myself." Jungkook says.

"Oh, well that makes sense." Taehyung says.

"Yeah I guess so," Jungkook replies. "So what do you say? Wanna travel with me?"

Taehyung smiles, taking Jungkook's hand in his. "I'd like nothing more."
