You awaken with a gasp, sitting up and looking around. Your head pounded, and you took shallow, fearful breaths. Toby was there, looking at you without his headgear. His eyes looked bloodshot and stood out against his sickly pale skin. Whether it be from tears or lack of sleep, you couldn't tell. All you knew was that the room was his own, and that you had severe throbbing in your head. You wince, and rub the front of your head in pain. Oh, the pain.

You almost forgot the ear piercing static and the growing feeling of immense pain. Your forehead was sore, and a bandage had been placed over it. This brought you back to the moment in the bathroom in which you tried to end your life from the pain. It was so much, you had never felt anything like it. It clouded your thoughts and gave you one mission. The noise had been too much, and even thinking back on the memory now gave you shivers.

"How do you feel?" Toby stuttered a great amount with only those few words, and it worried you.

You shrug, and say that you feel fine, but the voice merely comes out in your head. You move to speak again, you're fine, but nothing comes out. Toby stands there, seeing your face turn into confusion.

"What's wrong?" but you say nothing.

You point to your mouth, and feel tears brimming. What was going on? You want to speak, why can't you speak?

"Must be aphasia." you turn to see Jane in the doorway, and she approaches you slowly.

She puts a supportive hand on your shoulder, and begins to ask a few questions.

"Do you know who we are?" nod. "How about you lay down for me?" easily, you comply. "Alright, now sit up again and tell me how old you are using your fingers." Another response, and she sighs.

"They'll be okay. It might subside when they heal from the head trauma, but if not, it's not the worst case scenario. Basically, it's like someone who's mute so we could always have them learn sign language or something. It'll be okay, Tob." Jane squeezes Toby's shoulder, and walks out the door.

"So you understand everything, then?" Toby crawls into bed, and sits next to you. When you nod, he sighs in relief.

"Then I guess this is the perfect chance to explain myself then, huh?" you give him another confused look, and he frowns.

Toby begins with a simple backstory. Ever since he became a killer and began residing in this house, he would begin to bring back random people resembling his late sister. Each time he would, he would obsess over them, almost worship the land they stepped on. When it got to be too much, Toby would sit and watch as he would drive them crazy. He watched each individual scratch at their eyes, jump out the windows, bludgeon themselves, anything to get the noise to stop.

When he explains this, you can't help but cry. This is exactly what you hated. You cared for him, and the fact that you had not been the first nor last one he'd be bringing home broke your heart. Toby watched each tear roll down your cheeks, but continued on. After all, you wouldn't be responding any time soon.

"Watching you go insane, though," he pauses, "I couldn't stand it. Your screams should've annoyed me, I shoulda sat there and watched, but I couldn't. I-I don't know what it is. I couldn't watch you die. I couldn't watch you hurt yourself like that. I couldn't-" he gasps, trying to hold back a sob, "I couldn't do it. There's something about you that makes me want you to stay. Please, don't ever leave me. You have to be with me, I need you." He clutches your hand, rubbing your palm as he avoids your gaze. Had you been told you would fall for your killer, you would've laughed on the spot, but now, you couldn't help but melt at his words. He cared about you? Truly? You bring his face up with your finger, and give a sweet smile. You lean in, feeling his lips purse against yours. They felt as soft as ever, but you pull away after a few seconds. You rub your thumb across the tear on his cheek, and lean his head on your shoulder. He intertwines his hand in yours, and closes his eyes with a content sigh.
