Toby jumps into bed after resetting your little cloud up. He wastes no time in getting close to you, him arms hugging your right. As much as you wanted to push him away, you couldn't help yourself. You wanted this. It calmed you, and moments like these helped you forget the scary ones.

He clicks on the tablet, trying to find the new show he was so excited to show you. With an 'aha', he taps play. As you watch the beginning scenes, you look over to his head on your shoulder, arms hugging your right arm like a teddy bear. He looked so soft and harmless, but you knew he was dangerous and unpredictable. Your eyes land on his hair, as disheveled as always, and have an urge to touch it. Once your hands meet his hair, Toby flinches, but doesn't pull away. Maybe you should continue, so you did. You comb your hands through his hair, hearing him hum every so often. It was just as soft as it looked, and you LOVED it.

Toby stops humming after a while, and you take a break to find his breath has evened out. Just as you figure this out, your ears ring with static, and your vision begins to blur. It was him, but why now?

I suggest you give in now, child. You've got nothing to lose but time. I felt the emotions you felt the time you attacked Jeff. I felt the uncertainty with Toby. I know you want it, so give in.

No, you weren't a killer.

Why else would you be here, then? Toby did not run into you by mistake, but it is taking him longer than expected to figure this out. He knows, deep down, why you affect him the way you do. It's your responsibility to behave as we all expect before it's too late.

You swear, every time somebody talks, it sounds like straight up gibberish. Could people just tell you why you were here, why you affect Toby? Why did you have to kill? What was the purpose?

There is no purpose to bloodlust.

With that, he disappears. Never a dull moment, huh?

Toby stirs, grabbing his head in discomfort.

"Was The Boss here?" he looks worried, WHY was he so worried? Maybe this is your chance to ask questions.

"Toby, why did you get involved with me. Why can't you kill me?" you slow down, feeling uneasy waiting for his response.

He just hums, "So he WAS here." you turn and raise an eyebrow. "At first, I felt the sole intent to murder you, but something about you wanting to die held me back. It isn't fun when the victim doesn't even care."

"That doesn't justify the caring for me, or this whole buddy-buddy system." you motion towards the tablet, and cross your arms.

This seems to give Toby a set back, as he pauses for some time. Eventually, he responds with a quiet voice, "I guess it feels nice to care for someone after so long. You make me feel something I haven't felt before, even when I had this Lyra chick in my life. I don't know why, but I feel like if I lose you, I'll really lose myself, more than I already have."

You scrunch you're face in confusion. This turned into more of a heart-to-heart than you imagined. Why did he care this much? Why was The Tall Man so urgent on you keeping up a persona for Toby? Speaking of, he seemed to grow angry at your lack of an answer.

"That's it? No response? Why can't I care for you? Is that such a hard concept for you to grasp? I didn't think you were that selfish."

Selfish. That hurt. You clear your throat, muttering a 'sorry'. "I was just...uhm, lost in thought." why did that hurt so much, it's not like you cared for him, right? "Look, can you just leave? I'm feeling a bit sick, it's probably that time in the cold from earlier, yea, we can finish tomorrow." You stand, and begin to pull away his covers.

The first layer is folded and put to the side, yet when you tug the second layer, you feel a tug back. You look up, and see his hands scrunching up against the hem. You give another pull, but he pulls back. Is this guy serious? This time, you tug harder, bringing him up to a sitting position. His hands merely grab ahead, and pulls you forward. You yelp as you fall into the bed, then give him an annoyed glance.

Another few curses later, you've pushed yourself off the bed, and make your way over to him. You look at him with a fake smile, grab a handful off the blanket, and yank it away. Toby's hand, already on your forearm, brings you forward. He brings you down onto his lap, and grabs the sheets.

"You're annoying." you whisper as you try to get off, but he swiftly wraps the blanket around you. "What th-" Toby throws you down, and sits on your stomach just enough to keep you down.

"I want to keep you safe, so I'm sleeping with you. There's no other wa-"

"Safe from WHAT? I'm immortal, dumbass." you squirm, but he presses his hands down between his legs, pushing you further into the mattress.

"You're not immortal to everything, we all have weaknesses, we just eliminated most threats. The Boss can end you easily, but I won't let that happen." you begin to protest. You wanted death, remember? "I'll just have to save you from yourself, too." he smiles, leaning down to smooch your hairline.

"I can't tell if I'm a pet or significant other at this point," you mumble, talking to yourself as you squirm.
