"Someone is trying to tear my family apart. Someone is trying to take my Sophia away." I spit out and walk back into my office slamming the door behind me.

I wrote my name quickly on the check out sheet and waited patiently for my daughter to arrive with Embry. Do I tell her?

No I can't tell her.

She deserves to know though...

She is 5! She wouldn't understand even if I did tell her.

I have to tell her

Sophia walks around the corner with a different teacher. I haven't see him before... She smiles and I pick her up "hey babe." I greet her. I look around for Ms. Embry but I get no luck.

"Where is your friend?" I ask quietly.

Soph raises her shoulders "She's not my friend anymore, she left and didn't come back." She tells me sadly. What?

"Oh you must mean Embry, she was fired this morning." The owner's smart remark made me cringe. "She has been here for a little bit and made no progress in the right direction. She kept little Sophia here from making friends. I had to do what was right."

She kept Soph from making friends?

Sophie looked mas at the lady and I took my cue to leave. I nod and say my goodbyes then walked out to the car and placed Soph in the back "Hi Al!" She yelled from the back

"Hello sweet cheeks" he replied Soph giggled and I closed her door. I got in my side and pulled out of the parking lot.

"What's her name? I didn't get to see her from the window" Al asked me. No I did not park my car in front of he office's big window to show him what Embry looks like... I would never!

"Embry Elis. I want her number" I whispered her name trying to keep it out of reach for little ears...

"I just can't believe that you may actually like a girl. I mean I have been here for like years!" He says while typing away on his little phone. I don't know how his thumbs stay connected with all the work he does on it.

"Oh shut up. You will always be number 1" I laugh and stop at the corner. I look back quick to see Sophie half way asleep.

"I better be. Or I'll kick you áss until I am" he mutters and my new phone dings.

"Her number is 372-185-2856 (random numbers guys!!!) She lives on the other side of town in a one bedroom apartment, she has two younger sisters, and she is 19 years old." I look at Albert like he is crazy. A horn honked behind me and I pressed my foot on the gas.

"All I wanted was a number and you give me her biography." He laughs nods.

"Nothing is too good for my baby"

"Daddy I'm tired." Soph whines while I carry her inside. Her head is laid over my shoulder and she has her eyes closed.

"I know. All you got to do is eat then you can go to bed." I try to set her down on the stool but she wouldn't let go. "Sophie come on. The quicker you sit the quicker to sleep." She finally let's go and lays her head on the counter. Albert's making spaghetti for dinner so I'm a happy man tonight! I pull a stool out and sit by her.

She must really be tired if she is going to stare at the fridge all night.

I scroll through the message that Al sent me. Gosh he can really do his dirty work on someone. Her number was already saved into my phone. I was about to call when Collin walked into the kitchen and dropped the mail in front of me.

"Someone little has gotten a letter." He says and pushes it to Sophie. I set my phone down and reached to take the letter before Soph could demolish the paper. We don't need no 7 year old boys mailing her letters written in green crayon. She is only 5

I looked it over to see that it's a letter from the school I enrolled her into "okay you're good. Just don't make confetti out of it." I say and pushed it back to her. She smiled and went to town pulling the envelope apart.

Sooner then later Al came to us carrying three bowls of delicious noodles and wearing a black and pink apron with 'Its hot because I'm cooking' on it. "Nice outfit" Collin laughed and Sophie looked confused

"What is so funny?" She asked while looking super close to Al's apron. I pulled her away and sat her back on the stool.

"This is why I enrolled you in school."
