"We have been waiting for you Chosen One," the elders said together as they stood around me, forming a circle. "Today is the day where the prophecy will fulfill itself. Your sacrifice will bring peace to the world. A world free of Daemons."

I stood there listening to their absurd speech. I was glad that it was Cameron that found me first and not Deus. Only God knew what would have happened if I was really on their side. That's right, I didn't need to be scared, my mate will come save me. I'll be saved, Deus will be eliminated and we will go back home as if nothing happened. We will make it this time. He will succeed. I believed in him.

Suddenly, my surroundings became fuzzy before it melted into something else. The elders disappeared as they were replaced by trees and a house? What was happening? Was it part of the ritual? Before I could see it, I heard a crow's caw. I looked up and saw a pair of bright red eyes looking at me. A crow with red eyes, I will forever remember those eyes. They were like rubies and only one person could have those eyes. He was giving me a sign, a good sign at that. Crows weren't just a symbol of bad luck and death, they were also a symbol of prophecy and good luck.I smiled at the crow and watched it fly away.

Soon, the voices of the elders slowly came back and my surroundings melted back into reality. They were here. I could feel it. I looked around and was pleased to see that Angelina was standing beside her mother. I smiled at her and she blushed. Behind them were the guards and they were fully armed. I smiled to myself, if only they knew that their weapons will only hurt themselves.

We waited in the cold night for the last person to arrive. I didn't know whose idea it was to only have me wear so little clothes, but I was freezing! Sometimes I wondered who was the most inhuman, the Daemons or Deus. Freezing to death wasn't something to be taken lightly!

"Are you ready, Chosen One?" finally asked the elders together. I rapidly nodded at them and out of nowhere, slow classical music started to fill the silence of the glade. Then, they started to sing in a language I did not know. I carefully listened to them trying to understand something from it, but it was no use. It wasn't English or the language I talked in my past life.

Something black flew on a tree at the limit of the glade. I squinted my eyes to see what it was and I saw a crow. A red-eyed crow. It was Cameron! He could take any form he wanted and now he took the form of a crow. They were waiting for an opportunity. I didn't know how I knew, but I will call it a gut feeling. It was time to act as I planned.

I turned to Angelina and as smitten as she was, she met my gaze with a wide smile. She lifted her hands with her thumbs up and then blew me a kiss. I openly rolled my eyes annoyed by her constant flirting and she pouted in return.

"KILL. HER," I mouthed, which was a new skill I mastered while brainwashing the guards.

She tilted her head to the side before I saw the usual glazed look overtake her eyes. It worked! As I instructed her, Angelina slowly reached a dagger hidden under her dress and rapidly stabbed her mother's back. The woman gasped and stopped saying whatever she was saying before looking behind her.

"You..." the woman said hatefully before collapsing on the ground.

The people around gasped and I took advantage of their confusion to do the same with the guards. Soon, people were running like headless chickens to escape the guards who went rogue. I also used this opportunity to run away into the forest. As I ran, I heard people screaming Daemons and a smile grew on my face.

Yes, that's right, kill them, Cameron!

Kill them all!

I laughed as I ran, but was stopped when someone grabbed my arm. I hissed in pain when I was yanked back and fell on the ground. I groaned in pain as I grabbed my injured shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw Angelina's mother.

What the fuck?

"How the hell are you alive??" I asked in disbelief as I scrambled to my feet. I clearly saw her being stabbed by her own daughter, then why?

"I knew you'd pull something like that, so I took some precautions," she said calmly as she took off a bulletproof vest.

"What about your daughter?"

"I killed her. She betrayed me, us."

"Even if she was under a spell?"

"It doesn't matter. The fact is, she tried to kill me."

"And you say that the Daemons are monsters," I said sarcastically.

"It doesn't matter, they will be an extinct species tomorrow and we don't need you anymore," she stated as she reached under her clothes for something.

"STOP. MOVING," I ordered not waiting for her to take out whatever she was hiding.

She started to laugh. "Since the day I met you, I took some measures to protect myself from your power. You were very cooperative during our 'sessions'."

It couldn't be. She couldn't have become immune to my power.

"I. SAID. STOP. DON'T. MOVE." I said panicked as I could only hear my erratic heartbeats.

She took out a gun and pointed it at me. My eyes widened when she put her finger on the trigger. "Die."

At that point, everything slowed down as I watched her slowly pull the trigger. I closed my eyes and prayed for someone, anyone, to help me. I didn't want to leave Cameron behind again.

I love you.

Was my last thought before I heard the loud sound of a gun being triggered.
