"Listen, in less than an hour, we will exchange you for one of the elder's family. Remember to act naturally in front of the Daemon King, like I instructed you. When he's not aware, kill him," explained a lady. "Remember that our fate is in your hands, Chosen One. It is your purpose, your fate, your destiny."

"I understand," I simply answered nodding.

"When it's done, call me and I'll send someone to retrieve you," she smiled. "It's time. Give me your hands," she asked before tying them together and put a tape on my mouth. "Get in."

I went into the car and the lady followed. A man climbed in the driver seat before taking us where I needed to be. An exchange. I clenched my hands. Monsters. They kidnapped an innocent child to get what they want. I would definitely kill the King and put an end to all this madness.

On the way there, I watched the landscape around us. It took us a while before getting to the meeting point. And when we were finally there, some parts of my body were itching, but I couldn't scratch before of my bounded wrists.

I hugged through the tape and was glad the car stopped. The lady beside me went off the car first before opening my car door and roughly pulled me out. I stumbled, but because of her tight grip, I didn't fall. She was strong for a small woman.

"Daemon King, as promised, I am here with the Chosen One. Where is the kid?" she spoke loudly so the man on the other could hear.

So he was The Daemon King?

I spotted some movement as a child was punched in front of him. "Here he is. Let's trade."

She pushed me and I started to walk toward my enemy as the child did the same. I needed to act like I missed him. I was his mate in his eyes. I needed to act convincingly.

When I was in the Daemon King's reach, he pulled me into his arms. In an instant, the scenery around us changed. Teleportation?

He slowly took off the tape on my mouth before doing the same for the ropes on my wrists.

"I missed you so much," he said with a loving smile before leaning in to kiss me. Even though à chill of disgust ran through me, I forced myself to respond to his kiss. I couldn't afford to make him suspect me. "They didn't hurt you did they?" he asked, but since I didn't answer I saw his eyes burning with anger. "Those bastards, I'll make them regret it!" he roared and walked toward the group of Daemon nearby.

Panicked, I pulled on his arm, "they didn't hurt me, I-it had been a long time since I saw you that's why... I-I was hoping it wasn't a dream," I rapidly explained as he started to calm down.

He eyes softened, "I missed you too. I thought I would lose you again," he nuzzled my neck.

I shivered in desire, what was happening to my body? Even though I was disgusted for the enemy to touch me like that, my body responded to his touch. Why?

"I-I was scared of the thought of not seeing you again," I answered as I hugged him a little harder to act more convincingly.

"Let's get ready for our way home," he gently continued as he put his hand on my back.

He leaded me inside a tent and inside a could see a large bed and other furniture with lots of weapons. Good, seeing the amount, I could sneak one without him noticing. This error would be your end, Daemon King!

He told me that we would depart tomorrow at sunlight, so I helped him put his things back before preparing for the night. As the hour became late, more I feared the moment I would have to share this bed with him. I couldn't refuse to sleep with him or he would suspect something and I couldn't afford that. It was only for a few nights, maybe only one. If I find and opportunity to act tonight, it would be one night. Let's hope.

"Let's rest," he climbed on his bed and waited for me to join him. When he saw me hesitate, he asked, "what's wrong?"

"Nothing," I faked a smile as I hesitantly followed him in his bed.

As I was under his reach, he pulled me into his arms. I was flush against his chest and his hold was tight.

"God, I missed you so much," he nuzzled my neck as I shivered.

He sounded as if he was scared that I would disappear again. But that wasn't the worst, his hold was so tight that I could move an inch at all. And I hoped he wouldn't feel the dagger tucked on my waistband hidden under my shirt.

It seemed like this night, I would be resting only. Patience was a virtue after all.

When morning came, I didn't what hour it was, but I woke up alone and the dagger hidden in my waistband disappeared.

FUCK!

I panicked and looked around, but The Daemon King was nowhere to be seen. Did he realize? Did he go to alert his followers? Did they wait for me to wake up and to go out before attacking me? No, I was his mate. If the information Deus gave me was exact, he wouldn't even think to lay a hand on me.

I heard footsteps and I spun around in the bed expecting danger. But I was greeted by the King. He was smiling, what did that mean?

I nervously smiled back, "you weren't in bed when I woke up."

"Sorry, I had things to take care of," he sat on the corner of the bed next to me. "In fact, I have a present for you," he took out something from his pocket. "It was yours before you... died," he said the last word with difficulty and showed me a necklace.

"It's beautiful," I honestly exclaimed as I took it in my hands.

"Here, let me put it on for you," he took it back from me before.

I turned around, so he could put it around my neck. When he finished I looked down on the necklace, beautiful.

What the fuck was I doing?
