Tic tac toe.
My hearts desires swing about, to and fro.
What are my deepest intentions for myself?
For I will never know.
Tic tac toe.

"Renee I'm tired! I work my butt off for him but he's never at home to see my effort! He always be at work at the Blockbuster and I'm way too done to be going out of my will to check if he even there you know... He always bringing back these ole horror movies that are a real threat to Robyn; she's young Renee, if she get hold of one lord knows where her head gonna be for the rest of her life!" her mother grieved to one of her friends through the phone. It was a Sunday, and father was doing at shift at the Blockbuster so they decided to do a house cleaning before he came back. The phone was on loud speaker so although she was in the living room and her mother was in the kitchen with the dishes, she could hear everything that was going on. Something her mother wasn't aware of..

"Maria... you gotta leave his lazy ass now before he starts to rub off on you! You need to find someone who can help you in that little house of yours... you know that nigga never loved you, he's married to them damn movies! I wouldn't be surprised if his crazy ass ends up in the news for firing someone u-" her mother cut her off by running towards the phone and turning off the speaker before putting to her ear as Robyn purposely made her way to the kitchen emptying out the dust filled pan into the trash.

"Renee, I'll have to call you back...."

"Hey, you gonna buy those or wish that you could?"

She flinched in shock of someone startling her from behind. She looked down to the pair of Nike slippers she had in her hand, she quickly shook her head placing it back on display; not becuase she was afraid of being confronted, but becuase she was planning to steal those slippers, but there was no point anymore... Without reacting to the insult she had just received from the girl behind her, she attempted to leave the store peacefully, failing to do so as the girl continued to stay in her ear,

"So, Miss Parker huh? You know he never loved you right baby? You're nothing more than his baby mama. He told me everything that happened yesterday after he came back from your's....I wouldn't bother, thinking about getting back together; he thinks your crazy! But I guess that's two on team physco bitch..." she yapped in an accent as Robyn continued to tried stay tranquil. Robyn immediately knew who it was. She stopped to look at her in confusion, not sure what her deal was; If Parker was so sure that Robyn was off his ass then Winifer shouldn't have any reason to feel so intimidated by her...

"Then what makes you think he would settle for a clingy bitch like you?"

"Are you trying to instigate a fight?" She asked shoving her into coffee table as if she was expecting Robyn to react in some way.

"I don't fight with my fists..."

"Hey... " she breathed into the phone as she traced circles on her lap,

"Hey Robyn..."

"Can you come over? I got something on my mind..." she nodded even though he couldn't see.

"Yeah of course... I'll be on my way."

She lead him to her bedroom, falling dramatically onto the bed as she thought about how she was going to express herself to Chris without saying too much. He followed behind her to the bed, sitting on the edge to show her respect, but she got up to sit cross legged and motioned for him to sit by her...

"Chris, do you remember when you said to me that the devil was once an angel?" she asked with a hung head still contemplating whether she should tell him or not. He nodded in response.

"I do, why?" he asked going not too sure where she was going with this, he didn't really want to talk on it anymore... She inhaled deeply before looking him in the eye,

"My mother was an angel... She was too soft, that was why she killed herself." she mumbled. Chris's face dropped as he looked at Robyn in disbelief,

"She did what?" He asked too surprised to think that it would've been better to divert the topic instead of bringing more attention to it...

"I didn't tell you..."

"You didn't tell anyone Robyn... What brought you to say that?" He asked softening his tone not knowing how to deal with the topic of death... He wanted to show her that he cared, he didn't want to seem uninterested.

"I-I've just been having these flashbacks recently, and they aren't in no type of chronological order, they just pop out of nowhere taking me suprise..." she said in the tone of a question as if she was talking to herself rather than having someone listening. There was a silence between them, she wanted desperately to tell him about the incident with Winifer she had earlier that day, but she decided to leave it. She felt his strong, warm hand lightly rubbing on her thigh as he passionately looked into her eyes,

"Has love ever crossed your mind, Robyn?" He asked in a mumble as he became captivated in her gaze... he slowly licked his lips as he felt her skin tremble underneath him.

"I'm at war with my own heart sometimes..." she told him as she subconsciously increased the intensity of her gaze. He looked down removing his hand from her lap,

"Me too. I hate that after years and years of building a wall in my heart, I still have the heart for love..." he admitted.

"Why? Who do you think about?" she asked him quietly, but he remained silent. She cocked her head to the side as she examined his side profile...

"The way you held Mason in your arms and looked down at him as if he was your own son. My heart warmed as if I was watched you immediately turn into a different person. I couldn't stop thinking about you two..." she told him. Chris looked up at her as if she was joking, but she remained serious,

"I can't stop thinking about you either Robyn..." he confessed quietly. They shared a long gaze before she looked to the floor and shook her head,

"You gotta go..."
