It had been over a month since they had returned to Evergreen and the home coming had been outright emotional as Melody dealt with the shock and hurt from those that had believed she had died. Her stress had calmed down as everyone slowly came to terms with her return and she found herself happily back at work and living comfortably with Coal and Oak at his cabin. There had been no need for her to worry about where she would be staying when she returned with Oak, he had been the first one to state she would stay with him as long as she was okay with it.

Of course, she had been and Coal was enjoying his days there or at the clubhouse when she was working. Kaden had taken over the Red Devil's up in Libby and the cartel had called its hit off of Melody as business went back to normal. While the clubs were still on agreeable terms, the Warriors had pulled back from the gun running and decided legit was the way to stay. After handing over Chuck and the others, their reputation as a club was pretty straight forward. Mess with theirs and you disappeared.

Oak's bar had become her focus and Melody had fought to go back to work after two weeks of being back home despite being treated as if she would break. She had been included in all the decision making and practically ran the bar herself and all thanks to the man that she loved. Love, it was scary but damn did it make her feel good and she couldn't keep the lovesick look off her face every time she saw Oak. It was his dream that had encouraged her own and now he could help his brother out more, something he really appreciated.

His consideration and always involving her with the decision making of their relationship both personal and professional were many of the things she loved about that man. She shook her head at her thoughts and brought herself back to the present as she counted the liquor bottles before her. Realizing they would need to make a run to the store to stock up before the weekend, she turned to head out when a bout of dizziness hit her. Pressing her hand to her lower back, she fought off the need to sit as her back continued to ache and another dizzy spell overtook her. She had woken up feeling off but had shaken it off as nothing to worry about, just feeling under the weather as she had been over working herself a little to get back into the swing of things.

"Hey Mel, you doing okay?" Sam poked her head into the supply room, noticing her wince.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to eat..." Melody stopped and put her hand out to steady herself against the rack of liquor bottles as a stronger wave of dizziness overtook her again. Waving off Sam, Melody looked up at her raised brow and just shook her own head.

"I'm fine, I just...Fuck", a sharp pain on her right side had her doubling over as the dizziness continued. Sam was quickly at her side and grabbing her shoulder to steady her before pulling her over to a chair in the corner.

"Jesus, Mel. You are not fine. You have been working nonstop since you got back to work." Sam frowned down at her as Melody breathed through the pain that seemed to be coming in waves now.  "I'll go get you something to eat, but don't move." Sam spoke sternly before disappearing to the bar's kitchen.

Melody could only nod in response as she groaned at the intense cramp that took her breath away. What the fuck was wrong with her?  Yeah, she had skipped breakfast but she had never had hunger pains like this.  She had only been too busy enjoying Oak's wake up call with his mouth that had prolonged her morning, making her late for the bar. Trying to shake away the dizziness did nothing except make it worse and her vision was starting to waver. Black spots were starting to fill her vision before darkness fully overtook and she felt herself falling.

"Mel!" Sam stopped her pitch forward as the plate of food she was carrying went crashing to the floor.

She caught sight of Sam before falling into oblivion, the sounds of Sam's distress the last thing she heard.

"Ha! You wish brother!." Oak chuckled as he worked on a truck in the bay next to Ash at the clubhouse. "I may have Melody but no way are we having kids anytime soon. If anything you need to get moving on finding your own baby maker. Someday for me but definitely not right now."

"I don't have time for that, Oak. If finding a woman involves all that shit we just went through then no thank you." Ash's gruff response had Oak rolling his eyes at his older brother.

"C'mon, Ash. Don't be like that. Most of the time it's just dinner and drinks until you find the right one." Ash chucked a wrench at him, narrowly missing Oak as he ducked.

"Don't have time for that either. Too busy with the club and making sure everything continues to run smoothly. I'm happy you have Melody, but I'm fine enjoying my peace and quiet when I can." Oak just shook his head as they both went back to working on the trucks. Coal watched them as he laid on the cool concrete floor, happy tail wagging.

"Hey VP! Phone call." One of the new prospects called out from the clubhouse. Oak wiped his hands on a rag before heading inside, wondering who would be calling.

"Hello?" Oak held the phone to his ear, waiting for a response.

"Oak, shit you have to come quick. Melody just passed out and I called an ambulance to take her to the hospital." Sam was out of breath as she seemed be talking to someone else.

"Just tell me which hospital and I will meet her there. Sam just stay and make sure everything is fine at the bar." He hung up after she responded before skidding back outside and heading to his bike. What the hell had happened. They had had an amazing morning and she reassured him she would get something to eat at the bar before they parted ways.

"Everything okay?" Ash called out as Oak raced by.

"No, Sam called from the bar and said Melody's heading to the hospital. She passed out. I'm headed there now." Not waiting for a response form Ash, Oak peeled out of the parking lot and pushed past the speed limits as he raced towards the hospital.

Stupid woman, probably has been overworking herself and got herself sick. Oak could only imagine all the reasons she had passed out as he weaved through traffic before pulling into the parking lot of the hospital.

Barely getting his kick stand down, he flung himself towards the emergency room doors and over to the first desk he saw where a nurse sat.

"Melody Grant, she was just brought here by ambulance. Where is she?" The nurse looked up at him before shaking her head.

"Are you her husband?" The nurse pursed her lips as Oak fought to keep his cool.

"No, goddammit but I hope to fucking be one day. Now where the fuck is she?" Oak gripped the counter before a voice spoke up.

"Oak? Hey, over here." Felicity beckoned to Oak despite the disapproving glare from the nurse manning the desk.

"Felicity, what's going on? Is she okay?" Oak was ready to start tearing down the walls, wanting to see Melody for himself to make sure she was okay.

"Oak, she's fine. They have her in surgery. She...here sit down." Felicity looked at him worriedly as she led him over to one of the waiting room chairs. His face had paled at the mention of surgery and he felt sick not knowing why. He kept silent as he waited for Felicity to tell him.

"Oak, she had internal bleeding from an ectopic pregnancy. It ruptured her fallopian tube so they had to remove it. She is going to be fine." Felicity smiled weakly at him as he tried to understand the medical terms she was throwing his way. Seeing his confusion, Felicity explained further.

"She was pregnant but it developed in the wrong spot, the tube instead of the uterus where they normally grow. It was early, only six weeks and she was still out when they brought her in. She should be coming out soon though and then I'll make sure you can see her." Felicity rubbed his arm comfortingly just as Ash and Wyatt came walking through the emergency room doors.

Putting his head between his knees, he rubbed the back of his neck with both hands as he tried to fight off the feeling of helplessness he felt. Was this his fault? They had forgotten a condom a few times but she had reassured him with her birth control they would be fine. Shit, what did this all mean.

"Did they tell you anything yet?" Wyatt asked anxiously as he slumped in the chair next to Oak while Ash remained standing with his arms folded.

"Yeah, she's pregnant. Well, she was but it wasn't right and they had to remove it. Fuck, I just need to see her." Oak sat back and blew out his breath. Wyatt got up and walked over to the charge nurse before Ash took the seat next to him.

"She's going to be fine, Oak. She is one tough cookie." Ash stated with admiration. Oak knew that too as he looked over at the station where Wyatt was winning over the charge nurse by the apparent blushing and smile on her face. Probably a good thing considering how he had come in raging like an absolute asshole. Melody would be fine and they would just laugh this off tomorrow over dinner.

Less than hour later, Felicity was ushering Oak to the recovery room where they had taken Melody, explaining it was best Oak see her first. Ash and Wyatt nodded before taking a seat, knowing they would get to see her once she was discharged.

"She was out when they took her in but she was told what happened and why. She had no clue so she might be in shock still. I did tell her I told you and she started crying." Felicity stated as she led the way down the hall.

Felicity left Oak at the door as he took a big breath in before stepping inside to see her sleeping. As soon as the door closed, she opened her eyes and groggily looked around before setting her gaze on him. She smiled weakly but something else seemed to be bothering her as she looked away and closed her eyes.

"Hey sweetheart." Oak moved to sit next to her on the bed as she focused back on him.

"Hey" She croaked as he reached for some water and helped her to sip it before setting the cup back down.

He leaned back behind her as he took her in his arms as gently as he could. Her head nestled into his neck as she shifted slightly. He rubbed her arms and kissed her forehead as he contemplated how to approach the situation.

"Scared me out there. What are you thinking?" Oak knew something was up as tears leaked from the corners of her eyes as she looked away.

"Oak, I didn't want you to find out this way. I'm sorry I should have been more honest with you." He frowned in confusion as he thought Felicity had said she had had no clue she had been pregnant.

"Why are you apologizing?" He waited patiently as she took a few breaths. He was not about to put words in her mouth and only wanted to hear what she had to say.

"Because I can't have children and this is the reason why. I already knew my tubes were screwed up and was told even my uterus was not stable enough to go through a pregnancy. I...I had a..." Melody stopped as she tightened her grip on Oak's arm, shaking her head and unable to continue.

"Listen you don't need to tell me everything right now. Just focus on right now and feeling better. You just had surgery and need to rest, alright?" Oak tipped her chin up to look into her eyes, seeing the tremble of her lip and glittering tears ready to fall. Kissing her softly, he tucked her back under his chin and held her close as he mulled over what she had just told him.

Was she about to tell him she had an abortion and was afraid he would judge her or was she more worried because of the no kids thing. Heck he had  been talking to his brother about this and the thought had him mentally flinching as he realized the magnitude of what she had said. She had known she couldn't have kids and figured he'd be all set and want nothing to do with her once he found out. Did he want kids? Fuck he hadn't been thinking about it until now and right now no he didn't, but would that change in the future.

"Thank you, Oak for coming. I truly had no clue what was happening." Melody whispered as she rubbed her hand over his chest in a circular motion.

"Of course I would come. I love you Melody and there is no way you are getting rid of me that easily." He smiled down at her as she snuggled back into him. He wouldn't have her worrying about the no kids thing and he wasn't going to let her do so either. They would get through this one day at a time.

As he wheeled her out in the wheelchair, Ash and Wyatt gave her smiles before falling into step beside him. Pushing her over to the truck, he knelt down and lifted her easily into the passenger side and settled her in.

"Don't worry I'll ride your bike back, Veep. One of the Prospects already dropped off Coal so he'll be waiting for you guys. Feel better Melody." Wyatt blew a kiss as she giggled before heading over to Oak's motorcycle parked next to Ash's.

Nodding , Oak turned back to the truck and smiled as he got in behind the wheel. Grabbing her hand, he kissed her on the back of it before taking off and making sure to avoid all the bumps on their ride home. Everything was going to be alright.
