The house was dark but Oak was happy to see Wyatt standing outside looking out towards the woods. He knew Melody would be sleeping inside and that Wyatt had made good on his promise to not let her out of his sight. Squinting in the early morning light, Oak spotted Coal bouncing along the tree line as he set his kickstand down before getting off his bike.

Oak walked closer to Wyatt, noticing his nervous energy and instantly tensed himself wondering what was going on.

"Morning, prospect. Everything going alright?" Oak raised a brow as Wyatt snapped the stick in his hand, alerting Coal who came padding over. His hands holding the two pieces of stick were twitching as Coal took them both in, sensing the unease as he stopped just outside their circle.

"I'm sorry, I fucked up." Wyatt gripped his hair with one hand as he met  Oak's eyes, imploring for forgiveness. Oak felt ice cold as he heard his words. Where was Melody?

"Wyatt, just spit it out. What happened?" His hands formed into fists as he imagined all the ways of torture he would inflict on whoever had hurt her.

"I don't really know. She had marks on her neck, said it was Chuck. I freaked out and hit him three times before they pulled me off him at the bar." Wyatt straightened his shoulders and looked Oak straight in the face, anger now shining in his dark eyes. Oak felt his own anger brewing at the thought of Chuck touching her, knowing he was going to be a problem after their last confrontation. Chuck had laughed him off saying Melody was a free woman to choose what she wanted. Oak didn't like what he had inferred and had held him against the wall as he threatened his life if he fucked up.

Oak closed his eyes and tugged on his beard, trying to keep calm. Taking a deep breath, he dropped a hand on Wyatt's shoulder, proud he had defended her even though nothing should have happened in the first place.  Chuck had another thing coming if he thought the repercussions would stop with Wyatt.

"You did well, Wyatt. Thanks for watching out for her, but I'll take it from here. When are you leaving?" He saw the bag sitting on the ground near his feet, Coal now slumped against it as he watched both of them.

"Now. My brother wants me to go on a run down to a brother chapter in Texas. Said you already knew." Oak did, puzzled by his readiness to leave, especially with no indication of when he was expected to return. He knew he had gotten close to Melody - a crush, brotherly love, whatever it was, he wasn't bothered by it. After the incident with Greg, Wyatt had begged for a second chance and had stuck to Melody like glue. He hoped the kid wasn't beating himself up over this recent issue and made a point to check in with Mason later.

"Ride safe." Wyatt nodded as Oak watched him pat Coal, hop on his motorcycle and ride off. He appeared as if he hadn't slept all night and knew that they had had a late night working at the bar.

Looking back at the house, he saw it was still dark and didn't appear as if Melody had been woken. Calling for Coal to follow, Oak let them both in the house before he slipped his boots off and laid his jacket and cut over the back of the couch. Coal padded into Melody's bedroom and settled himself at the foot of the bed.

Oak peered down to see her moving in her sleep, her face lightly shadowed in the darkened room as the sun began to creep through the window. She appeared to be dreaming but her face was furrowed and her skin dampened. He shuffled out of his pants and socks and slid underneath the covers, pulling her body towards him.  She tensed against him but he kept his touch soft as he moved his lips over her neck and the shell of her ear. She melted against him and sighed as he felt her body relax into his. Nuzzling her neck, he moved her long hair over her shoulder and pressed her body tightly against his with one hand on her lower stomach. She was only wearing panties making him growl in appreciation. He found her naked breast and curved his palm around the heavy weight, rubbing his thumb over her taut nipple.

Her breath hitched and she pushed back against him, her hands now splayed over his as she slowly woke up.

"Morning, sweetheart." He kept his voice low as his fingers dipped into her panties and found her wet. His dick hardened as she continued to press back against him, her humming making him smile. Inserting a finger, he curled and pressed inside her as she gasped and bucked her hips.

"Oak...yes," her breathy response was all he needed to hear. Removing his hand, he slid her panties down while pressing her back into the mattress. Her eyes were open and focused on him, hesitation barely there but he saw it. Keeping his underwear on, he framed her face with his palms and kissed her nose. He pressed his body weight lightly down on her and nipped at her lips.
"I got you, Melody. You're safe and this is up to you." If he had to fight off blue balls to make her feel good, then he would. She blinked up at him before shyly smiling at him, her hands gliding across his back. Dropping her hands to his buttocks, she squeezed and kissed him on the mouth before pushing him on the chest.
"I know, Oak. I want this." She wiggled underneath him and he quickly shed his briefs. Rolling the condom on, he stared down at her gorgeous, freckled skin and traced a hand across her lower abdomen. Her barely there landscaping had him dying to taste her but he held off for another time.
He wanted to go slow and made no move to bring them closer, only moving his hands across her stomach and up her sides. Skimming her breasts he leaned close and kissed her neck before pulling back. He slid his hands down to her hips as she pressed her cheek into the pillow.
He finally relented to her mewling protests before pushing himself slowly into her wet center. He groaned as he felt her pussy grip his cock tightly, angling his hips to thrust deeper. His mouth pulled at hers and he kept his thrusts slow, pressing himself longer to the hilt before pulling out. Her thighs pulled up beside his hips, giving him a deeper angle and making her call out with satisfied cries.
"Fuck, sweetheart. You feel so damn good." Her body milking his cock had him mesmerized as he held himself on his forearms and stared into her golden eyes. She smiled widely, urging him on with her tight grip on his ass as he felt himself getting close. He switched to shallow thrusts, pushing his looming orgasm back as he watched for Melody to meet hers. He loved watching her, feeling her get off on him, and enjoyed the playfulness she sometimes surprised him with.
Suddenly, he deepened his thrusts as he felt her body tighten and bow under him. His release was fast and intense, making him shake as he fought not to collapse on her. Quickly, he rolled them sideways, pulling himself from her and throwing the condom off to the side. She slipped from the bed into the adjoining bathroom as he shimmied back into his briefs and waited for her to come back. Watching her walk naked back to the bed had him itching to be back inside her but he opted to enjoy the view instead. Her slight yawn had him agreeable to a nap as he had missed out on sleeping the night before from cutting his travel time in half to get to her.
"I'm glad you're back. I missed you." Her soft voice had him smiling happily as she snuggled into his chest, her leg draping over his hip as she settled against his side.

"I missed you, too. Get some sleep, we'll talk in a few hours." Melody happily complied and was soon back in dreamland, this time with a slight tilt upwards to her mouth.

He lightly skimmed her neck, frowning at the slight bruises behind her ear. He paused when he looked down her body and saw finger prints that he hadn't put there. That fucking scumbag, his thoughts darkened as he imagined driving his fist through Chuck's face. He brushed his fingers lightly over the area before dragging the sheet and comforter over them both. Whatever Chuck thought he could get away, he was dead wrong and Oak was going to make sure he knew that. Finding himself drifting off, he let Melody's warm, soft body lull him off to dreamland as well.

                                            ——————————————————

Smiling in the mirror, Melody watched Oak walk back in from the shower with a towel wrapped low on his hips. She looked away as she applied her mascara, warming at the thought of where they had been tangled up together in bed. He had woken her again with his devilish mouth that had sent her over the edge. Many times. Not that she was complaining, in fact she wouldn't mind staying in bed with him all day.
"Keep that look on your face and I'll keep you here all day," Oak growled as he ruffled his wet hair with a towel and stopped just inside the bedroom to stare back at her. Her eyes flew back to his in the mirror, wondering how serious he was.
Sucking her bottom lip between her teeth, she remained staring at him with lust heavy in her eyes, knowing the effect it was having on him. She didn't want to go back to the real world and would do anything to keep this small bubble they had. Even seduce him back to bed.
"Oh no you don't. Don't even try that with me. I need to take care of a few things today." Oak smirked over at her before moving over to his bag, rummaging for clothes.

Melody wondered what those things were. Did they include Chuck? She still had yet to discuss last night with him but figured either Wyatt or the club spilled the beans. She wasn't mad at Wyatt if he did, his loyalty was to his club and its members first and she respected that. Better to get the conversation over with anyway.

"Are you going to visit the Red Devil's today?" She turned to face him, searching for any sign of what he had planned.

He sat on the bed in his underwear, distracting Melody as she took in his muscled form and tattooed skin on display. He sighed and looked up at her, holding his arms out and beckoning with his hands for her to come to him.

"Come here." He replied. She moved over to him, standing between his legs as his hands settled on her hips. One hand slid her t-shirt up and softly traced over the marks that Chuck had given her.

"This is why I need to. Chuck is a problem that needs to be handled. I already told him to back off and leave you alone." Oak looked up at her, frustration evident on his face as she placed one hand on his tattooed shoulder.

"He just surprised me last night. He thinks I'm playing hard to get or something. I swear I have no interest in him at all." Melody wanted to reassure him. She wasn't a hang around or like his ex, just looking for a club to fuck her way into.

"I know. I found out more than I wanted to from Sasha and he has had this a long time coming. You are supposed to be safe here, not dealing with assholes like him." Oak pulled her forward, his face against her chest as she ran her fingers through his hair. He had spoken with Sasha about this? She wasn't sure how to feel about that and it raised more questions.

"What did you find out?" she whispered, almost afraid to ask.

He pulled back and looked up at her, her hands resting on both shoulders with a slight tremble. Flexing her fingers, she calmed her nerves and waited for him to respond.

"He used to get rough with the hang arounds at the club; one of them accused him of rape. It didn't go anywhere but Sasha said he's gotten rough with her as well. He's a piece of shit and I don't trust him around you." Oak fisted his hands on his thighs and Melody felt herself tensing at his words. She wasn't a stranger to poor treatment from men but hearing about it made much more sense when she looked back at all her interactions with Chuck. He had come off as forceful and seemed the type to not take no for an answer.

"Well, don't worry about me too much. I can handle him like I did last night. He doesn't scare me." Chuck may not scare her but she wouldn't add any more worry to Oak with thoughts of the cartel scaring her, asking questions back in Colorado.  She just hoped none of this backfired and had someone opening their mouth to the wrong people.

"What did happen?" Oak's voice was firm as he looked up at her. Truth be told, it was such a blur to her as she had fought off old instincts to simply endure instead of fight. She was glad the fight had won out.

"He just came in asking questions and accusing your club of lying. He mentioned you had told him to leave me alone and then...he just grabbed me. I bit his tongue to stop him and he left, pretty much telling me he would try again." Melody frowned as she recalled what had happened. Anger started boiling inside at the thought of what that man had wanted from her and probably had planned to use force. She wasn't helpless and didn't plan to be ever again.
He pulled her close again, vibrating with intensity that had her assuming it was anger. She still couldn't believe the man she had found, the men really. They were harboring a fugitive from a big drug cartel, one they easily would lose against, and not batting an eye. She may not have had the greatest home life growing up but she had found a family in Oak and all those supporting her. She squeezed him, hoping some of her strength would flow into him and realize they had bigger fish to fry.
"Oak, I'd hate to stir up trouble here and you kicking Chuck's ass like Wyatt tried to do just won't end well for the clubs. With the cartel sniffing around, all it would take for this to end would be a pissed off, greedy biker looking for revenge." The thoughts had circled in her head all night and as long as everyone played nice from here on out, no one had to worry. As much as it would give her complete satisfaction to see Oak give him what he deserved, it wasn't worth the possible blow out. This wasn't a dick measuring contest; they were trying to save her life.
"You're right. I'm having words regardless with the Red Devils, club business. I'll be gone for the day but I'll meet you at the bar tonight for your shift." Melody swallowed the lump of disappointment at not spending the day with him. He had forewarned her but it still got lonely not having anyone to talk with that knew everything. This new life of running and hiding was going to take some getting used to.

Shaking herself from going down the rabbit hole of depression, she turned her thoughts to taking Coal for a hike to Cedar Lake, one of the local hiking trails. He laid on the bed now, staring between them with a wagging tail. Brightening, she nodded as he finished dressing.
"I'll make us breakfast before you go. I was going to check out a cool trail with Coal, today anyway." She had hoped Oak would have been around to enjoy it with her but they would have other days.
"Why don't you wait until tomorrow and I can go with you?" He seemed to be asking her but she felt the underlying message, it wasn't safe by herself.
"Tomorrow? The weather said rain all day. I'll be fine, I have Coal and my gun." She didn't want to feel like she needed permission to do something and hoped Oak didn't put up a stink about it.
Dressed in jeans and a black tee shirt, Oak walked up to her and slid his hands to her shoulders before cupping her face.
"It's too dangerous for you to be by yourself. I don't want to have to worry about you while I'm not around today. Tanker came with me but he's over at the Sandman motel. He'll go with you." It wasn't a question and she felt a bit sour at the thought of spending the day with Tanker.             She had only met him a couple times and had seen what he had done to her ex and his partner. She shuddered at the thought of his quiet demeanor that clashed with such savagery. Men like him made her nervous; he was huge and quiet but had the look of a fierce, wild animal.
"That's fine, I'll meet him at the motel." Oak may think she needed a babysitter but that didn't mean she had to utilize said babysitter. She highly doubted Tanker wanted to spend his day following her around in the woods.
"I'll call to let him know before we eat."
Melody left the room with Coal while he called, quick on whipping up a breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon. Time flew by too quick and she was left watching Oak leave on his bike, his taste lingering on her lips. While he had made her promise to meet Tanker, Melody twisted it to mean after her hike. She understood his concern but she would be out on a well travelled trail with her dog and .357. Her true enemies were back in Colorado.
"Come on, Coal. Let's head out before someone catches on." She bundled them up into the Tahoe, amazed how late snow stuck around in Montana. It was nearing June and still the peaks were light with snow.
Heading west on route 2, she peered in her rear view mirror and breathed a sigh of relief. No cars or motorcycles in sight. Coal happily hung his head out the window in the passenger seat as the Tahoe rumbled beneath her. She breathed deeply and felt the weight lift from her shoulders as she got lost in the passing scenery.
