"It's a week long trial that tests your abilities and how dangerous you are as a black wolf." Clint was driving, taking occasional glances back at me through the rear view mirror.

"Dangerous my ass." Brennon grumbled from the passenger seat, looking out of the window with a forever frown. "You and I both know she's harmless" He slumped down in his seat. He was here on behalf of the pack. Axel wanted to come but we all thought it best that he stayed in the pack especially after what had happened.

"Yes, but the council doesn't know that." Clint sighed, "Besides, this will also determine if she can live in a normal pack or in Alpha Caleb Larson's. You do know his pack is all black and white wolves."

"Are you serious?" Brennon whipped his head around so fast I thought it was going to fly off, "What happened to the mate laws?"

"They don't apply to black wolves," Clint sighed, "The council is terrified of black wolves and their abilities so they are especially strict with them."

"Terrified why?" I spoke up, feeling my hands shake with worry.

"Well because each of you black wolves were given abilities to rule over all the other wolves. The council feels threatened when their laws and rules can be easily disobeyed by you all." Clint pulled up in the council hall, an overwhelming and completely tacky building that towers over the land.

There were some men waiting outside with a few massive wolves beside them.

It looked like an entire army was waiting for us as we arrived. And as soon as I got out of the car I was surrounded by the men, one of them grabbing my arms and latching extremely heavy silver handcuffs on me. I almost fell over when they released my arms, but some other men already cuffed my feet and attached a long chain up to my hand cuffs.

As soon as they released me I struggled to stand up, but Brennon quickly wrapped his arm around my waist and held me up, wincing when the silver chain brushed against his bare arm.

"Thank you." I whispered to him, not hearing him respond when a council guard attached a collar around my neck that was attached to a long chain. A guard with a dense looking glove held the other end, pulling it harshly enough to make me slip out of Brennon's hold and slam into the ground.

"Hey!" Brennon rushed to my side, about to help me up when I was pulled harshly again. The silver was making my skin tingle from how cold they were but for the most part, they were just heavy. "Stop it, this is our luna you are disrespecting." He grabbed the chain with his bare hands, pulling it harshly to give me some slack.

"Stop it Brennon," I coughed out, touching his hand and pulling it off, "It's okay." I struggled to get up, especially since my hands and feet were bound. I looked up to see Alpha Caleb standing at the top of the stairs, staring down at me with an unreadable expression.

"This isn't right." Brennon whispered, rubbing his burned hand, still looking at me with worried eyes.

"It's fine." I got up, and began walking tired and small steps, trying to keep up with the harsh guards. "I'll be fine," I gave an awkward smile, going up the stairs with my head held high and a hopeful glint in my eyes. "I'll be fine." I whispered to myself, ignoring the stares I was getting from the scariest alpha I've ever seen.

"Silence." A guard jabbed my with the back of the his gun that's probably filled with silver bullets. "The council with address you shortly." I was brought to large room that had an even larger semi-circle table that had a terrifying feel to it.

The guards left and I was able to catch a glimpse of Clint and Brennon right before the heavy dark-oak door slammed shut, leaving a looming alpha in the corner, his one crimson eye boring into my soul.

"Why are you so calm?" His deep voice sent chills down my spine, "Do you not fear for your life?"

"I'm not sure." I looked over him with a smile, "I just am hoping for the best."

"Naive child." He scoffed, getting up from his dark and brooding corner to tower over me, "If you do not pass the trials you will be rid of."

I looked up, making direct eye contact with him, "I not afraid." I lie to myself and him, though he immediately picked up on it, just giving me a raised brow.

"We'll see what will happen," his arm suddenly shot out, gripping my jaw and squishing my cheeks together, "Either way you'll be mine soon."

With that he turned around and left, leaving my cheeks a little sore.

"Miss Vennett." I turned around to see the table filled with all elderly male wolves. "Shall we begin?"

I took a deep breath, "Yes."
