"Are you okay?" I ask Clint as he let me down lightly on my feet.

"Just peachy," he grunted, pulling at his collar to see how stretched out it was. "Goddamn tempers ruining another shirt." He mumbled a few more words to himself and slipped his jacket on to hide the awkward stretched out shirt.

"Sorry." I mumbled, playing with my fingers as Clint shifted around so he could grab my hand again.

"I don't blame you for that asshole." Clint was blunt, leading me towards more stores as he held a tight but comforting grip on me. "I figured since you both were so fresh in the rejection phase that I'd push him a little more."

"Why?"

"Because that guy needs a wake up call." Clint pulled me into a store that was blasting music while big bright screens showed skinny models walking down a catwalk in underwear. Clint seemed unaffected by the atmosphere of the highly sexualized store and even the lust-filled looks he got from passing females and even males.

With all these people looking at him I started taking in his features. He didn't have too harsh of a jawline, but very high cheekbones, giving him a sort of soft but masculine look. His bright yellow eyes had a specks of gold and tan making them actually sort of dull but mesmerizing. But I guess it was his height that screamed masculinity that I guess the girls like, but he was also on the lean but not skinny side that kinda gave him a sort of femininity.

Overall he is a very beautiful man.

"I can feel you staring at me," Clint was looking at some of the bras laid around, "Something on your mind?" He still kept a hand on mine, while I stood slightly behind him, just observing.

As soon as he said that I shot my eyes to the ground, feeling my face heat up.

He made a weird scoff sound, more like he was more amused than condescending.

"Thank you." I mumble, just thanking him for everything he's done for me since the moment I've met him. He seemed to understand the meaning behind my words because he didn't question me. "But you didn't have to fight Axel like that."

"Technically it was him trying to fight me." Clint pushed me gently towards a clerk who has armfuls of undergarments. "I'll be right here so just find me when you are done." He sent me a relieving glance before pulling out his phone, looking like he was now rooted in the ground.

After an embarrassing change after change I picked out a few pairs of undergarments and Clint payed for each one.

"H-how much do I owe you?" I questioned with shy eyes, looking up at him as he continued to stare at his phone with his other hand  holding mine. I've already gotten comfortable with the fact that he's holding my hand, but I'm still not comfortable with the stares we've been getting.

"Nothing," Clint looked over at me with a charming smile that quickly went away when he looked behind me. "Beta, what can I do for you?"

I turned slightly to see an out of breath Brennon, like he ran from the pack house to here.

"I," Brennon gasped, trying to catch his breath, "I had some free time," He gasped, "And wanted to see if Mable needed some help." His eyes slowly drifted to Clint and mine's conjoined hands. "Have you two met before?"

I wiggled my hand from Clint's loosening hold, even more conscious than usual about our intimate contact. "N-no." I answered Brennon with a meek voice. "He was just helping me."

"By holding your hand?" Brennon questioned, his brow raised in confusion.

"H-he wa-was," I stuttered, looking at Clint for help.

He seemed to get the message, stepping forward, "I was monitoring her vitals." Clint, looked at his watch on his phone, "And she's been good for about an hour and a half now so I'll check on her tomorrow." He passed all the bags to Brennon who awkwardly took them, "I leave her in your care."

We stood there for a little, watching Clint depart as some bystanders stopped and stared at him walking away while he stared at his phone.

I wonder what is so interesting on that thing.

And I wonder how all of this is going to help me not get killed by the council.

Brennon seemed disinterested in Clint, seeing how he immediately turned to me with a bright smile.

"Hungry?" He asked, patiently waiting for me to respond. He almost resembled a puppy, with his slight head tilt when he looked down at me.

I just nodded, smiling a little to myself at one of the most powerful beta's as a pup.

But, because my life is like this, as soon as we entered the food-court-area there they were, the golden couple. Together they were surely eye-candy, a pair that you'd see in a cliche movie.

Other werewolves are avoiding them though. Pissing off an alpha is something you can do quite easily especially when their luna is around. Alphas are 10 times more on edge when they are with their lunas and not in their territories.

Though by the looks of them they kind of look distant.

Phoebe was talking fervently to Axel, like she was trying to get his attention, but he was looking off to the side and not at her, looking everywhere but her actually.

His eyes were slightly lit up, telling everyone that his wolf is on edge as well.

I guess with the crowded mall that there are a lot of dangers for one of the most powerful lunas.

Either way I was frozen on the spot, silently begging the Moon Goddess that Brennon didn't see them and that we'd just get some food and by out of there.

But once again, luck was not on my side because of well, my-life, and Brennon started waving at his friends while walking towards them with an even bigger smile that didn't falter when he saw Phoebe turn around and frown.

Either that he was genuinely happy to see them or he is putting up an act for Axel.

From what I've heard since I've met him I'm going with the latter.

"Brennon? What are you doing here? What about the pack?" Phoebe asked as we approached, plastering a stiff smile on her face.

Brennon too had a stiff smile, "The old alpha and luna kicked me out, saying that I'm young and should hang out with my friends while I still can." He looked down at me and smiled, "Well now I have time to buy you a birthday gift!"

Axel seemed to perk up, looking at me with an unreadable expression.

"It's your birthday?!" Phoebe shouted, leaping over to me and grasping both my hands in hers. "We have to celebrate!"

I awkwardly stepped back, out of her hold and behind Brennon like he could protect me somehow.

"T-today isn't my birthday," I muttered, getting a surprised look from the luna, "I think."

"Hmm?" She looked right at me, not bothered by Brennon's scolding glare, "What do you mean by that?"

I hid behind Brennon more, trying to avoid answering.

"She means," Brennon looked slightly behind him, catching glimpse of my pleading eyes, "That she's hungry and we should get some food in her!" He hurried around the pair, avoiding Axel's questioning gaze that slowly focused on me.

I looked away, finding the floor fascinating, not even noticing when I bumped into a rather large man.

I quite literally bounced off, landing roughly on my bottom with my teeth clacking on impact.

"Watch where you're fucking going." The man growled, his presence pouring out a menacing aura that sent chills down my spine.

I looked up with fear prominent in my eyes. My whole body was violently shaking with my heart pounding a million miles per hour.

Above me was a man with one crimson eye and one deep black eye, staring down at me with a cold glare that suddenly flickered with an unknown expression.

His bleached blonde hair shifted in front of his face, covering his crimson eye as he continued his dead gaze at me.

"Mable! Are you alright?" Brennon came rushing over to me, pulling me to my feet as he looked up to the man I ran into probably to apologize to him. But he too froze, "A-alpha Larson, I'm sorry for my friend."

"It's fine." He growled, taking one last glance at me before walking away, all by himself.

Something about him was familiar.
