Hey everyone, it has almost two years but being in lockdown finally gave me some time (and inspiration) to write soms fanfiction again :)
Thank you so much for the 2k reads, I never expected this!

It was early in the morning, and Daya was setting up the conference room for the monthly staff meeting. She had only worked there for a year and was the youngest of her department. Yet, she was the staff supervisor, a job that was only recently assigned to her by Namjoon, the department manager.
Everyone in the office loved Daya, she was smart, emphatic and a social butterfly. She was small and pretty with fair skin, long brown hair and emerald green eyes. People felt some kind of appeal to Daya, even if she just did her job and bothered no one, people came to her with their problems and she gave them advice. Namjoon saw this immediately and offered her the job after only a few months. She tried to decline it, but he was so certain about it and persuaded her.
It was stupid of her to do it, but she secretly loved the attention and praise.
Daya knew that she had such influence on people ever since she was young, but this sky rocketed ever since she was bitten and turned into a vampire.

Yes, can you believe it? A vicious, blood sucking, people killing vampire.
Out of all people that could be turned into a vampire, someone turned one of the most emphatic people ever into one. It happened years ago when she was a teenager walking home from her after school job. It had been dark and a women approached her. She thought the woman looked strange, but she was too nice to ignore her, too naïve to see any danger. They talked for a while and the woman told Daya that she was too sweet, too fragile for this world. She told Daya that people would use her as a doormat if she kept doing things like she did. 'In this world it is to hunt or be hunted dear.' She bit Daya, sucked the blood out of her body, and left her alone to either change into a vampire or die. It must have been some cruel joke that she survived.
The first few months were the worst of her life. She had no control over it, killed people and burned their bodies after. She discovered she had persuasive powers and used them for anybody who suspected anything so she could never be caught. Daya was miserable, faked her death and left her parental home.

The following years were the worst ones of her life in which Daya lived on the streets in agony. She got better at controlling her ravenous hunger for blood, but it still did go wrong many times. At one point she learned how to use her powers to steal blood bags from the local hospitals. She thought she'd finally knew how to avoid killing people until she made herself a target for hunters by stealing enough blood for the town where she stayed to have a shortage. Daya was very lucky to have escaped them and never encounter another one. It was a traumatizing experience but it did make her realize she had to work smarter. After a some time of she learned to live with it properly. Daya discovered that the vampirism had some sort of influence on people. She had aways been a very social person. Daya had many friends and one could say she was kind of popular at high school, besides the ocasional abuse of her trust. People always had a tendency to follow her around and asked for advice, but it was almost ridiculous how much people liked and followed her now.
When Daya felt like she had enough control over herself, she interned at a publicity agency, everyone there loved her and she got a full time job after a month. She basically grew up working at the office, learned so much from her colleagues.
Until everything went wrong, she lost her cool and killed three of her co-workers during a teambuilding camping trip.
Everyone thought Daya was dead along with the people she killed. She changed her name and moved far away. She ended up in the city where she lived now.

So now there she was, setting up a meeting knowing that she was taking a very big risk by taking this higher position after only being there for a year. As she was setting up everything, Daya got more nervous. It was the first time that she was going to lead a staff meeting. The people that now worked for her had far more experience and she was aware of that. She was planning on changing stuff around the office and there was a big risk doing this to people who had been working the same way for years. Still, Daya felt like she could make some very good changes for everyone, even if it was scary. She felt her heart beating rapidly and knew it was going to be very hard to stay in control with so many people in one room. Being nervous made her bloodcravings bigger.
It was only a few minutes before the meeting would start and Daya could almost smell the blood bags (aka humans) waiting on the other side of that door. Why was she so stupid? She never should have accepted this job. But now she was in it and she would lie to herself if she said she didn't secretly love it, even if it made her nervous sometimes. Maybe she just liked having more power; being able to control something for once without directly using her vampire powers.

The set up was all done when the clock hit 9 o'clock and her colleagues came in. Everyone greeted her and told her good luck on her first staff meeting. Everyone was on time, except for Jimin.
Of course, Jimin was late.
Jimin, with his blonde locks, nice suits and easy smiles with the cutest dimples. He was only a few years older then Daya but had worked at the company for years already. He was the one people came to, before Daya worked at the company. He was supposed become staff supervisor, but Namjoon changed his mind last minute and Daya swept the job away right before Jimin's eyes.
Daya always thought he was such a nice guy, and so good looking, she even had a slight crush at him during the first few weeks at the company.
But now Jimin was pissed.
He was really pissed at Daya.
He was the only one that didn't seem to like her from the start. He played nice at first, showed her around the office and introduced her to people. Ever since got the job though, he stopped being nice. Especially when there was nobody else around. Jimin tried his very best to scare Daya out of the position without anyone noticing.
How could anyone be so blind about this guy?
But on the other hand, that's because of the same reason they had a vampire as staff supervisor.

Daya waited for 10 more minutes and then decided to just start.
'Goodmorning everyone, and welcome to our very first staff meeting! I have been thinking a lot about the situation around the office and I think we should change some things around here to make working more efficient and less stressful. These are mostly just suggestions, so if you guys have any problems with it or better ideas feel free to pitch in.' Everyone was paying attention to Daya, she felt her confidence growing.
The meeting went well, her colleagues were willing to change things around and came up with ideas to make it even better. Everyone was in a great mood.
Then Jimin came in, an hour late.
'Sorry everyone, got stuck in traffic.'
She knew that he didn't like her. This was just another attempt to tell Daya he didn't take her, or her meetings seriously.
'Hi Jimin, you have missed a lot so take a seat. I'm sure someone can fill you in about what we were talking about.'
As Daya moved on and one of the colleagues told Jimin about the ideas, he seemed to laugh at them. She knew he did it to annoy her, but Daya kept the meeting going, knowing that reacting to it would only work in his favour.

After another hour Daya closed the meeting and walked up to him. 'Hey Jimin, can we talk in my office? I would like to know your opinion on the ideas.'
He nodded and followed her into her office.
Even though Daya had enough reason to call Jimin to her office, it still feeled weird. He was supposed to be the one to sit there if it wasn't for her.
The office wasn't very big, it had white walls with some art decoration. The big windows in the back made sure that there was enough light but there were still fluorescent lamps in the ceiling. There were two black leather chairs behind a big black matching desk with a comfortabel chair that was huge enough to make Daya seem tiny. Maybe she had to reconsider the big chair because it made her look even smaller and ridicioulous.
Daya closed the door and pointed to one of the smaller chairs, she sat down in the one next to him.
'Jimin, do you have a problem with me?'
He chuckled. 'We both know I do, and I think you've known for a while now.'
She wasn't expecting such a direct answer and raised her eyebrows. 'But why?'
'Because I think you're fake, you took the job that was promised to me and I don't trust you. There is something about you and I will figure out what it is. People might be blinded by your sweet looks and words, but I am not.' His words sounded poisonous, full of detestation. Daya felt her cheeks reddening.
'You know that I could get you fired because of this behaviour right? I am your supervisor.'
Jimin snorted at her reaction. 'If you walk to Namjoon and try to get me fired, I will tell him that you're doing this because you feel threatened by me. He won't fire me because I am way to valuable for the company. I can simply tell him that you're  too young and inexperienced after all. Please try to fire me, then we would have a supervisor who actually deserves the spot.'

Daya didn't know what to say. There had only been a few people in her life that talked to her like that, with such hate and disrespect. It triggered her when people treated her like this. 'I did not mean to take your job Jimin, Namjoon asked me to do it and I just did what he wanted. I'm sure we can work this out.'
He looked her in the eye as he spoke. 'We both know that's bullshit. You took my job and you're loving it. I won't argue with you with everyone around, but I will be watching you. I am sure that you will fuck up at some point. So just be aware of that, I will know when you make a mistake.'
It made her feel angry.
It made her feel murderous, hungry for his blood.
But she did not want to be like this.
She did not want to kill Jimin, but at the same time she felt like draining his entire body.
She hated this feeling.
Daya shivered as she made a fist of one of her hands, trying to keep calm. 'You are crazy'
He looked at her tight fist and smiled. 'You can always chose to take a step back, at least I know what I'm doing.' He even had the audacity of swiping a hair out of her face and smiling like they were having some sort of pleasant conversation.

Daya felt her heartbeat rising, could see the artery in his neck popping, hear his heart pumping the blood through his veins. Her senses were heightened. The lights in the office were too light, Jimin's perfume smelt good but it was too strong.
His voice was too loud as he spoke, it hurt her head.
Jimin was saying something, obviously more things to lure her out.
Her brain didn't even register what he said anymore, the only thing Daya could think about was killing to guy on the spot.

'Hey, did you even hear what I'm saying?'
'Daya?'
His heartbeat was so loud, way too loud.

He looked at her suspiciously as Daya jumped out of her chair and grabbed the little silver ball in her bag. It burned softly in her hand as she held it tight. Silver was supposed to kill vampires, but Daya discovered it only hurt her in small amounts. She used it whenever she felt like this and it helped to ground her and get back to her normal senses. For a second, she thought about using her persuasive powers to change his mind, but something inside her told her not to do it. For once, she wanted to deal with this the way humans would. 'I have heard enough, we'll talk about it later sometime.'
'I'm sure we will.' Jimin walked out of the door and looked behind him once as Daya put the silver ball back in her bag. He was gone so she closed the door and looked at the burned skin on her hand as it was healing.

~

The week went by and Daya's colleagues were doing great with the changes, some people struggled with things but they addressed it to her so they could find a solution.
It was strange to "guide" people that were older and more experienced then she was, but it worked nonetheless.
If she had learnt anything this week, it was that she still had good people skills and that Jimin might be scarier then she even realized. She thought he wouldn't actually watch her as close as he said he would. But he actually did. He watched every move she made, when she was drinking her smoothies (which was actually a blood bag mixed with stuff to change the colour a bit), when she looked at her phone, when she walked around the block, he was always around smiling at her when she looked at him. How did she ever had a crush on him? She was a blood sucking vampire and yet this guy managed to scare the shit out of her.
She couldn't tell anyone about it, he didn't do anything wrong. He accepted the changes she made, worked hard and stayed the longest at the office. It was so annoying. She had nothing on him.
It was Friday afternoon, Daya walked into the cafeteriua to grab one of her homemade "smoothies". She was able to eat other foods too, but it made her nauseous often so she barely ate real food. As she was forcing herself to drink the disgusting liquid, one of her collegues, Dan walked in.
Dan was a bulky guy in his late twenties, he was the kind of guy to go to the gym 5 times a week and then get absolutely wasted every weekend. He was quite the slut of the office and the main subject of the juicy gossips from a few of  the female colleagues. She didn't talk to him often besides friendly small talk during a coffee break.
'Hey Daya! I was wondering if you would like to join me and some other colleagues for drinks later tonight.'
Daya almost choked in her smoothie. She thought about it. It was just another weird twist of fate that alcohol was one of the few things that weren't disgusting so that wasn't the problem, but a full bar might be risky for her. Especially when she was under some pressure with her job. 'No sorry, maybe some other time.
Then Jimin walked in, smiling like he always did.
That damn smile gave her shivers.
Her colleagues didn't know better then that he was just smiley, cheerful Jimin. So Dan took his chance.
'Jimin, you're coming with us tonight right?'
Jimin walked towards the counter to make coffee. 'Yes, of course! Is everyone going?'
'No not everyone, you know our usual group.' He pointed at Daya. 'Maybe you can convince Daya to come with us?'
Jimin looked at Daya with bright eyes. 'Why don't you? It would be so much fun! It wouldn't be the same without you really!'
She saw the challenge on his face. Even though Daya always stood her ground when Jimin was around, he somehow knew how much he scared her. His face just screamed "you wouldn't dare going out with me". He probably thought she would chicken out. He probably knew how scared she was of him.
Why was she even scared of him? He was only human.
She felt ridiculous because Jimin was patronizing her. He was just playing around waiting for her to break and quit the job.
Well game on Jimin.
'Okay, I will come with you guys.' She looked Jimin in the eye, if he wanted to challenge her, game on!
He looked back at her while taking small sips of his coffee. 'It's going to be great.' As the day went by, Daya just stayed in her office to focus more on work and less on how she gave in to Jimin's challenge even though she risked exposing herself. She couldn't bare seeing him.
Eventually it was time to go home, eat dinner and meet her co-workers in the city centre at 10.

So there she was, waiting for everyone to arrive. The sun had set and she felt more energized in the dark. For some reason, daylight made her weakened. Nighttime was Daya's time and she loved every second of it.
The air smelled like gasoline, there was the never ending car noises, people yelling and music of the bars and clubs and the city lights that illuminated everything. All her senses were extra heightened during the night. She felt strong, powerful, more alive.
Jimin walked towards her, he had traded his suit for black skinny jeans and a stylish black coat that seemed expensive.
He looked very satisfied to see her. 'Hey, there.'
Although the sight of him disgusted her less then it normally would, she still wasn't psyched to wait with him alone. 'Hey, have you seen Dan and the others yet?'
'No. Why? Are you scared to be alone with me?'
He might look scary during the day at the office where she let him watch and intimidate her, but this was her time, her area. And Daya felt very confident.
'Yes, but only because I don't like hanging out with narcissistic bastards on my Friday nights.'
Jimin's eyes widened at Daya's sudden harsh reaction, normally she would never say something like that to him. 'Look at you being all confident, you might want to tone that down when the others arrive before they see your real colours sweety.'
'Says the stalker.' She snorted
Right after Jimin said that, Dan and the others arrived. When Daya saw them walking up to them, she bumped her fist against Jimin's arm and laughed. She punched hard enough to hurt Jimin's arm, but not hard enough to let it show. 'Hey guys, we were waiting for you!'
Jimin flinched and Daya felt satisfied. 'Jimin you're too funny.'

The others seemed to really believe that Daya and Jimin genuinely liked each other, if only they knew what was going on in the background.
They walked towards a bar for drinks.

It was a small rooftop bar with an inside and outside section. It was cold outside so the inside part was crowded. The place was lit with bright colored lights and the walls were covered with photos and posters of people and cities. There was a small stage for the live band that was playing.
Dan found a free table so everyone could sit, then he disappeared to get drinks.
There was so much happening at the place, so many stimuli. She had a hard time focusing on the group instead of all the voices and heartbeats she could hear, bodies she could smell.
She even forgot to tell Dan that she did not want to drink. It was not like she got drunk easily, it took a lot of alcohol to get a vampire drunk. But once she started drinking, she took a risk of losing control.
Dan came with a tray full of cocktails and put a drink in front of everyone, including Daya. 'This cocktail is a specialty of the bartender and I think it's the best cocktail you'll ever get.'
Daya carefully shoved her drink away. 'Sorry Dan, I forgot to tell you that I don't drink alcohol.'
Jimin was quick to respond. 'It's okay, I'll take it.'
Dan looked at her. 'Are you sure Daya?'
Before she responded, Jimin did. 'Don't try to persuade her into drinking Dan, she doesn't need alcohol to have fun.' He shoved her cocktail away as he took a sip of his own.
He was challenging her, she just knew it. He was low enough to challenge her to drink.
There he was, challenging her again about something stupid. Still Daya was childish enough to go with it. 'Actually, I have changed my mind. I don't want to be the only one sober.'
Let's hope this ends well, she thought as she took back her drink and took a sip. 'It sure is a good cocktail.'
Of course it did not end with the cocktail, and she must admit that Jimin could take a lot of alcohol.
But in the end, everyone was very drunk and she was just tipsy.
