Have you ever had a moment when you think you

hear something, dismiss it as something that, you

know, didn’t really happen, but have that ever-

growing urge just to get up and check? Just in

case?

I have.

I was sitting in front of my computer, and my

headphones were in at full blast. I was listening to

My Chemical Romance, in case you were

wondering. Because they’re cool. Anyways.

I remember hearing a bang. With my headphones in,

it sounded like a subtle knock, but it was enough to

make me take them out and look behind me.

That’s when I heard the screaming.

No way I would’ve heard it my headphones in, but

now? It filled the empty silence and slight ringing

from the constant banging loud music. To be frank,

it sounded an awful lot like my sister. Actually, it

was my sister. There was a lot of squishing too.

My heart was racing. What to do? What do I do? Call

the cops? No. I snuck out of my room and made my

way to the kitchen. I drew a knife. Tip toeing, I

made my way to my sisters room, but then

hesitated. Her screams continued throughout the

house. Was this really worth it? I mean, as far as

the killer is concerned, I don’t even exist right now.

I could just walk away. She doesn’t need the help.

Its not like she’s ever helped me. The minutes

slowly dragged by.

I shrugged and put my headphones back in.
