The sound of beeping resonated within my ears. It sounded like a heart monitor you would see in hospitals and TV shows. I opened my eyes and saw the normal ceiling above me in the Task Force building. I looked around the room and saw medical equipment beside my bed.

   ' Okay, I know this wasn't here before. '

I started to push myself up into a sitting position but when I tried I felt pain course through my side. I laid back down with a deep breath of air leaving my lungs.

   ' That's right I got shot. I changed the story and this is what I get. Great, at least Mr. Yagami isn't hurt. '

I tried sitting up again, but this time I put all of my strength in my arms and pushed myself up and sat down. There was a table beside the bed and it had a tray of food on it. I tried reaching for it but I couldn't reach it.

   ' Where is everyone? How long was I asleep for? '

I continued to look around the room but I couldn't find anything else that was new or I didn't recognize. I found my phone laying beside me and I picked it up. I was only out for a day. I heard the knob on my door start to turn and I looked toward the door wondering who was coming in. The door opened and Light Yagami walked into the room.

   " Y/n, you're awake? " He asked with surprise laced in his voice.

   " Yeah, just woke up. Can you hand me the tray of food, please? "

   " Sure. "

He walked closer to my bed and took the tray setting it on my lap. I started eating from the tray and Light took a seat on the bed close to me.

   " How are you feeling, Y/n? "

   " I'm fine. I could be better. "

   " You weren't supposed to get shot and you weren't supposed to fall over the barrier. What changed to make those things happen? "

   " I think, that because I warned you guys about Mr. Yagami getting shot he was able to avoid the bullet but someone had to get shot because that's what happens in the story. So I got shot. "

   " What about the barrier? "

   " I don't know about that one. No one fell over the barrier in the anime or manga. The guy looked like he was in a trance, like he didn't know what he was doing. I asked him about it and he didn't know what happened either. "

   " That is very odd. Do you think someone was controlling him with the Death Note? "

   " No, he wasn't because if he was then he would have died. "

   ' We both know this. He's waiting for something to happen so he can talk to me. '

I finished eating my food and Light took the tray from me. He set it back on the table and stood up from my bed.

   " Is there anything you need? Do you need to go to the bathroom or anything? "

   " Can you help me get up and get to the bathroom? "

   " Sure. "

I moved the blankets off of me and he picked me up bridal style and carried me to the bathroom. He shut the door behind us and set me down on the side of the bathtub.

   " I'm glad you caught on to my hint. "

   " I bet you are, what's going on? "

   " Y/n, I'm just glad to see you're awake. When you got shot I couldn't believe it. Right when I got all of my memories back too, I didn't want to lose you. You're important. "

   " Because I know how everything is supposed to turn out? "

   " That...and something else. "

   " What is this something else, Kira? "

   " Something that can be discussed later, I don't have much time to talk with you. I'm gonna knock this stuff over here down to signal to the cameras that you fell. "

   " Whatever. "

He knocked some stuff down and shouted,

   " Y/n, are you okay? You need to watch your step. "

   " Thanks, Light. "

   " I just wanted to check on you and see how you were doing. Also, thank you for welcoming me back. That was sweet. "

   " I was just welcoming you back, nothing more nothing less. You should probably go before Ryuzaki gets suspicious while watching the cameras. How are you even unchained? "

   " That's a story for another time. "

I rolled my eyes and he stood up from his crouched position in front of me. He walked out of the bathroom and I locked the door behind him. I used the bathroom and washed my hands along with my face. I dried myself and walked out of the bathroom. When I shut the door behind me I looked around the room and noticed Light's absence. Another figure was leaning against the door leading out of the room.

   " Hi, Ryuzaki. "

   " Hello, Y/n. "
