Stephano’s POV

*
Benito heaved a sigh before me, nodding as I finished my shorter version of the issue with Kara. He shook his head and I looked at my fingers, noticing they were longer than I’d I imagined them to be. I didn’t even look at myself or observe my features for too long, so no one was to be blamed. I’ve always been busy making my money.

“And she left....”

“And she left.” I repeated. I just didn’t get it. You couldn’t just leave someone because they were always caring for you and watching out.

If Kara thought I would have stayed and watch her banter for so long about that Gonzalo guy, then she had something else coming. Also, I had my reasons for what I did to him. I tried her number for the umpteenth time but it was still unreachable.

Benito murmured something and I did an eye roll, not that I needed his opinion but whatever.

“Why exactly are you here?” I asked in slight annoyance, scowling at him. I didn’t need anyone’s company at the moment.

“I saw it on the news and-”

“That’s not what I asked you. Why did you come here?”

“You didn’t look too good to be left alone man and besid-”

“Get out.”

His mouth parted as he worried his lips. I’d never shared my relationship bits with anyone and wouldn’t start that now. Even my mother knew not to involve herself because whenever I needed an honest opinion, then I would ask. At the moment, Kara was only being childish.

“Be nice man. Your girlfriend just broke up with you and-”

I balled my hands into a fist. Kara didn’t break up with me. She could, would never break up with me. The thought of her breaking up with me alone made my head hurt even though I knew that wasn’t the case.

“Get. Out. Benito.” I gritted slowly, losing my patience. I needed a good sleep. I would think clearly tomorrow.

“Fine. But I think you should give her some time, you know. Women can be dramatic sometimes, it might just be her time of the month.” I nodded and swallowed the bile at the back of my throat. Picking my phone, I went through my sent texts to confirm they’d been delivered even though there was no response.

Stephano:~ *Where are you Kara?!*

Stephano:~ *Fuck, talk to me!*

Stephano:~ *Are you okay? At least let me know you’re home safely.*

I knew where she was, I just needed the assurance that she was safe there.

Sometimes, that girl needed some spanking. All the pampering she got from basically all of us, including her mother and her doting father had made her become a spoilt brat.

Stephano:~ *I’m coming over.*

She didn’t reply. I should have followed her to her apartment when she left. This was the first time I would be having something even relatively close to a fight with Kara and I couldn’t believe my ears when she had earlier said she was breaking up.

I would make sure she never broke up with me. Childish or not, she went out of the line this night. She always got jealous when a woman did as much as batting their eyelashes at me and then she would spend all day talking about Paul and some dumb Marcus Silicone or whatever he called himself.

Telling me how her day went and how this or that guy did this for her, as if that was what a man needed to hear. Picking my keys, I drove to her place.

I had gone straight to my office after leaving the event because I knew no one would be present to cast me questioning glances and I would have my own privacy. It was already past nine PM. My knuckles rapped against the wooden door but there was no response. I waited for a bit and called Adrian since Kara’s phone was switched off.

She picked on the second ring.
“Hello?!”

Why was she screaming? And was that a hip hop song I was hearing at the background? She hushed and giggled. The music reduced a bit, as if she just walked away from the furious banging of the song.

“Hey. Is Kara there?”

“Mr. Alfonsi, uhmmm...yes. She is a bit upset and-”

“Is she there with you?”

She hiccupped. “Ye-yes.”

“Where are you?” I frowned. Her words were slurred. Memories of Kara getting drunk in her high school days as I would go and drag her drunken butt out of there clouded my vision and I released a groan.

Did they go to a club this night? Right after Kara actually made a dramatic exit at the event! Kara was really testing my patience. All these while I’d been nothing but considerate and that had brought us closer but she needed to understand some things. Sure, I didn’t like seeing her scared of me but she needed to understand that things wouldn’t always go her way.

And breakup wasn’t something you should tread lightly with. Your lover wouldn’t take you serious after the first time you say it over some flimsy argument.

“We are in the dor- hey!”

“Stephano what do you want?” Kara’s voice came on. Relief flooded through me at the sound of her voice, even though she was trying to sound nonchalant.

“I’m at your doorstep. Open up.”

I heard shuffling and music was turned down. Then the door was opened and a scarcely dressed Kara came in my view. That meant they were playing hip hop right in their dorm. Girls and their drama.

She was in a red sleeping gown that was short enough exposed most of her thighs even though I was easily getting a great view of her creamy cleavage. The gown was very short and I had to remind myself the time was now already past nine and she was close to calling it a night.

The thought of her leaving her dorm barely clothed and exposing so much skin hadn’t fully crossed my mind when I stroked it out.

“I called you. Several times.”

“My phone was set on silent mode.” She murmured.

I wasn’t subtle about my lingering gaze on her attractive cleavage, but I wouldn’t allow that distract me. I pushed her in by the shoulder and locked the door after getting in.

“I’ve never seen you in this?” I gestured to her choice of sleeping clothes, clearing my throat.

She looked down at herself and bit her lower lip, rocking softly from left to right on the balls of her feet.

“Adrian said we should imagine we were going clubbing like badass girls and jamming music without actually going out.” She mumbled.

My jaw ticked. “You’ve worn something like this to a club before?”

“No. Of course not. I’m in my room and the walls are pretty thick. Besides, I didn’t object because I needed the distraction tonight.” Adrian peeked out through the thick curtain separating the bedroom from sitting room, eyes bloodshot. After waving at me, she sauntered back into the bedroom.

“Come here.” I held Kara’s hand and dragged her to the couch. She wasn’t even putting up a fight.

“Now let’s talk about what happened today.”

“There’s nothing to talk about Stephano.” She did an eye roll.

My eyes narrowed at the act. “Yes there is.” I clenched my jaws and tried to remain cool.

She huffed and kept quiet, playing with her fingers. “Relationship is a two way thing Kara and you have to consider others when you do things.”

“You didn’t consider anyone when you made Gonzalo get deported.” Ouch.

“I had my reasons.”

“Yes, and they were selfish and-” I pushed her down by the shoulder and got on top, contemplating on either kissing her back to common sense, yelling at her or spanking her because she was really getting on my nerves with her childish antics this night. My eyes were bloodshot as I stared at her.

“Are you drunk Kara?”

She pulled away and went to sit across. I narrowed my eyes again.
“No. Adrian is a bit tipsy but I didn’t have more than a sip of that cup. I know what I’m saying Steph-”

“Then stop talking and listen to yourself. I had my reasons for what I did about Gonzalo and I assure you that it has nothing to do with me being jealous.” I gritted out. Standing up, I squared my shoulders.

“I didn’t want to have that discussion earlier on because I had something planned for us for after your exams, but obviously you don’t care about my own reasons. Also, how would you feel if I was going around in another country with Danielle? Yes there is nothing between us but maybe I’ll also take a week break from work. She’s currently in Hawaii and it’s been a while since I last saw her anyway. I need a vacation too.” I shrugged.

Looking down at her, her lower lip quivered but she tucked it between her teeth. I waited for her to say something, anything. She didn’t. Finding my way to the door, I unlocked it.

“Where are you going?” Her voice was tiny.

When I turned around, she was looking up at me with sad eyes. But that didn’t mean things were suddenly going to become great between us again.

“I’m going home to my bed, alone. You broke up with me, remember?”

She sucked in a harsh breath with widened eyes as I opened the door and shut it with a soft click.

Good night my love.

Sleep over your childishness and come back to your senses.
