Unable to take it anymore, I finally got Damon to get up and leave me for the time being. We didn’t say a word to each other for the rest of the morning. In all honesty, I was afraid that all hope was lost and he may purposely forget what I’d asked him to talk to my father about. I mean, after our failed attempt at making love, I’m sure he has other things on his mind. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at lunch.

Since it was Saturday, Damon and my father were not headed into the city, but working from home. Therefore, that meant I’d had them both for lunch. This also meant that I’d have only the Hilda here, and Damon’s goons. I swear his goons lived in every damn nook and cranky of this place. I couldn’t turn a corner most of the time without appearing.

Pulling together, a simple lunch of French dip sandwiches, bakes beans, and a fruit salad, I let the table for the three. I know my meals were nothing fancy, but they did fit the bill and kept everyone full until dinner. Still, I had to admit I was feeling good about taking over the house. At least I wasn’t sitting locked away in a room crying my eyes out.

At lunch while sitting around the table, everything seemed like business as usual. My father and Damon talked about the market and other business mumbo jumbo that I had no interest in.  I had just taken a second bite out of my sandwich when I noticed the tension in the room change, causing me to perk up and listen.

“Thomas, you know that eventually you’ll have to turn it all over to her per the stipulations in Cynthia’s will. So I don’t understand why you’re putting up such a fight?” Damon was saying.

“You’re the one fighting me young man! The point is I am not going to give into your demands. I have worked to long and hard to hand anything over to that… that…”

“Watch yourself Thomas. Don’t say anything you’ll regret.” I could hear the sternness in Damon’s tone, as he interrupted my father. This caused both their faces to turn red in anger and frustration.

Keeping my eyes down and focused on my meal, waiting for the next explosion to happen between them.  It didn’t take long for my father to burst. “Like hell I’m going to turn over my fortune to you and the trollop!” He roared as he brought his fist down onto the table, causing me to yelp out. Unfortunately,  my exclamation bringing my forgotten presence back to the forefront of my father’s attention. “You put him up to this didn’t you, you little bitch! You think you can come back here, act as if you’re the perfect little daughter, making shitty sandwiches, and get way with taking all my money. That money is mine! Mine, I tell you!” He spat at me, as droplets of spit flew across the table.

“Father, I….” I tried to speak but nothing came out.

Thankfully, Damon took over. “Thomas, just calm the fuck down. All I am asking for is to look at the will and the trust papers. That really isn’t too much to ask.”

“Too much to ask? Too much to ask!” He repeated. “I’ll tell you what is too much to ask! This whole thing is too much! Both of you are too much, period! I see it all clearly now. You’re working together. You and that whore I call daughter. I get it all know. You’re both trying to get your hands on MY money. It’s mine I tell you! Mine! You can’t have it!” He bellowed as he got up from the table, storming out of the dining room.

I sat there stunned. I knew he was going to through a fit, but this was perfect. I tried with all my might to hold back my fits of laughter. I needed my father to explode and he did just want I needed. Sitting there, I just stared at his empty seat, until Damon brought me out my devious train of thought.

“Darling, it looks as if you’re father isn’t going to just hand over those papers. I wish this could have been easy, him just letting me look at them… but I think he’s hiding something. In fact I know he is.” Damon told me.

“What do you think he’s hiding?” I hadn’t thought that there was a reason behind his outburst. Well anything more than he was a greedy old man.

“I don’t know my darling, but I will find out if it’s the last thing I do. I’ll be in my office, contacting my lawyer. I’ll get my hands on that will and your trusts if it’s the last thing I do.” Damon declared as he stood up, leaving the room.

Sitting there stunned, I let the smile widen across my face.  This was it. It was all coming into place. Now I know Damon will do my bidding even if I sleep with him or not. He’ll turn my father against him by going after my inheritance. What’s sad is I don’t care about the money, I’d give it to him just to be rid of him; if it was that simple.  Still, soon enough all the pieces will be in place, giving me my final freedom to live my life as I see fit. Hopefully, right back into Angel’s awaiting arms.
