Adelaide stood alongside a very distraught Caroline Forbes as they gaped at the flooded school hall. Adelaide kept her calm as she tried to stop a frantic blonde vampire from stressing out too much and killing people.

"What happened?" Adelaide turned as Caroline spoke, to see Tyler walk up to them in his tux.

"The gym's flooded." He shrugged.

"No shit Sherlock. Try and sound more happy next time." Adelaide rolled her eyes, the sarcastic comments slipping from her teeth easily.

"The dance is canceled." He informed Caroline, an unconcerned frown on his face.

"Excuse me? Well, what are we supposed to do now?!" Caroline yelled, throwing her hands up in the air. The cop cars were surrounding the scene to keep students back while people who could fix the flood began to arrive. It was a definite to say that if Homecoming was happening it was not going to be at the school. Tyler sighed before a smirk lifted onto his face as he explained to his girlfriend that the party could be moved to his house.

"It'll be fine Care," Adelaide comforted the blonde. "Just remember the amazing shoes you're wearing and let loose for a night. Let's go have some fun." Adelaide convinced her. The blonde nodded hesitantly.
"I'll go tell Elena the plan." Caroline offered.

"And I'll bring my car round." Adelaide smiled before hugging the blonde shortly.

Homecoming at the Lockwood's was something Adelaide never expected would happen. It had more of a party vibe to it rather than a high school dance. Cheap beer was being served left, right and centre instead of punch that someone would have eventually slipped alcohol into. Tyler had somehow managed to get a live band in the time since the flood happened which made Adelaide think that it wasn't a coincidence. The place was already full by the time the two girls had arrived with Bonnie after picking the witch up.
"How did he plan a better party than me so fast?" Caroline sounded upset as the three girls stood in the doorway of the Lockwood Mansion. "Is that a band outside?" Caroline noted.

"Who are all these people?" Adelaide frowned, having a feeling something was definitely not right.

"This is weird." Bonnie shared a look with Adelaide as Caroline angrily stormed off in search for the boyfriend.

"You look beautiful tonight Bonnie dear," Adelaide turned her frown into a smile as she faked a male voice.

"You look just as gorgeous Adelaide," Bonnie offered her arm for Adelaide to loop her own through. With a giggle the two girls moved further into the room.

"Is it just me or are some of these people strangers? Who the hell are they?" Adelaide pointed towards a a group of people dancing - they looked too old to be teenagers.

"I agree. Something is off." Bonnie didn't look at Adelaide who had turned towards her.

"Is there something you're not telling me Bonnie?" Adelaide moved to stand in front of her, blocking Bonnie from walking. He witch stopped, trying her hardest to avoid eye contact with the Gilbert. "Bonnie?" Adelaide repeated herself, growing frustrated with everyone keeping her out of the secret. The next voice she heard, above the loud cheering of teenagers was a voice she didn't expect to hear. And yet it still sent the same familiar shiver down her spine. He music was pulled to a sharp stop as the microphone screeched. Adelaide's eyes went wide as she spun around towards the stage. She was towards the back of the crowd, but yet he still managed to scope her out among everyone. "Good evening everyone!" He got a response of clapping and cheering with a few wolf whistles thrown into the mix. "I want to thank you all for being here with me to celebrate. It's been a long time coming." Stood on the stage centre, dressed in a neat expensive black suit was Niklaus Mikaelson. He was back in Mystic Falls. And his eyes were right on Adelaide Gilbert.

The music restarted and Klaus stepped down from the stage, pushing his way through the crowd. He however was met with the face of Stefan Salvatore, who blocked the Original's view of Adelaide. And within that split moment when Klaus was distracted, Bonnie managed to inject a needle into the exposed part of Adelaide's neck. The substance that was in the needle took effect almost immediately.

"Bonnie - what?" Adelaide nearly hit the floor but Bonnie managed to slow her fall by catching her. Of course the witch wasn't strong enough to carry Adelaide and so Matt, after having been informed of the plan earlier, was right beside her, moving the oldest Gilbert from the witches grasp and quickly moving past everyone and back into the mansion, placing her in Tyler's bedroom.

Klaus Mikaelson was said to have no heart. Not of inch of kindness ran through his blood. He spread fear wherever he stepped and his smile could ruin happiness. And yet, Adelaide Gilbert felt none of these. She saw him for... him. An artist who just wanted to survive. Who needed someone to show him what love was. What happiness was. And so, when Klaus looked back to where the stunning girl was last seen, his blood ran colder than it ever had as the spot was empty.ย

Stefan had left to go retrieve the Mikaelson's father but Klaus could only feel confusion as he glanced around at crowd of people, unable to spot his favourite girl. When Tyler Lockwood wondered over to him, Klaus spoke about how none of the evening's events had been a coincidence. He wasn't worried about the newly turned hybrid ruining his plan by spreading the news that Klaus had planned the night. Surely they must have guessed he had something to do with it already. Tyler rushed off. From his expression it was clear the Lockwood wanted to get his girlfriend out of the crossfire. And the only way he could think of keeping her safe was to inject her with the same substance Bonnie had used on Adelaide. When the blonde vampire fell into his arms he placed her comfortably on the bed, slipping her heels off of her feet. He noticed the branded shoes. But he also noticed something neither Caroline nor Adelaide had when they had unwrapped them. On the heel of the shoe, towards the top, carved into the red material were the words LITTLE DOVE in cursive handwriting. Knowing that it may be possible for Klaus to care about someone was a shock to Tyler. He would have never imagined anyone to fall for Adelaide Gilbert. She had always been the geek. The girl who read and cared about her studies more than boys and gossip. Of course, Adelaide had grown into a beautiful young lady over the past two years, but she was never the girl boys went for. She was always the boys best friend. So not only did it seem strange that Klaus clearly fancied Adelaide, but she also seemed to fancy him back.

Tyler placed the shoes down after twiddling with them in his hands. Before he could leave however he noticed a hand reach up from the other side of his bed. Rushing forward he saw a half conscious Adelaide waking up.

Adelaide felt the drug leave her system within half an hour. Her neck felt sore when she first tried to sit up with the little energy she had. But it soon healed with a few seconds.

"Adelaide?" Tyler frowned as he rushed towards her, bending down to her height. That was when he noticed the mark on her neck, made by a needle. "What happened?" He felt a sudden instinct to hurt whoever had done this to her. The strong emotion crashed into him as he helped her up so she could sit on the bed.

"You tell me," she rubbed her neck, a growing anger bubbling up inside of her. "What did you do to Caroline?" Adelaide snapped when she noticed the blonde behind her.

"I just wanted to keep her safe. Out of Klaus' way." Tyler held his hands up in surrender, trying to ease her panic.

"Well I'm sick of people thinking what's best for other people." Adelaide told him. "Where's Klaus?" She asked hurriedly. Tyler didn't answer her, he only turned his head to the side and sighed, clicking his tongue. "Take me to Klaus Tyler!" Tyler shook his head.

"No can do Adelaide." Within an instant Adelaide had snapped Tyler's neck.

"Oh my god," she raised a hand to her mouth, shocked she had just done that. She backed away, towards the door, before rushing out, bumping into Matt on the way. She just shoved past him however and tripped down the stairs. She glanced around frantically, trying to find Klaus. Making her way into the front of the house, she stepped outside. The cold air hit her arms, making goose bumps rise and her small hairs stand on end. She didn't believe it was from the cold however. She made her way to the bottom of the large stone steps, looking around. As she turned a gust of wind made her hair fly in her face. There was a man now stood in front of her. A man she thought looked quite similar to Klaus. And when she was grabbed into a tight hold by two hybrids, their pupils wide like they had just been compelled, she knew who the man was. Mikael. Klaus's father. This had been her sisters and the Salvatore's plan all along. They wanted to kill Klaus. And so they got someone to do their dirty work. She struggled against the vampires but they pressed a sharp knife into her back, causing her to stay silent and still as she figured out a way to be free of them. They were stood to the side of the doorway, out of view from anyone inside the house.

"Hello, Niklaus." Adelaide saw the man smirk. She wanted to call out for Nik, but the male hybrid pressed the knife further into her back, moving it down slightly, leaving a small scratch.

"Hello, Mikael. Won't you come in? Oh that's right. I forgot you can't." Klaus taunted him, trying to seem strong and confident instead of letting the fear roaming inside of him loose.

"Or you can come outside if you want." Mikael suggested.

"Or I can watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb." The hybrids surrounded Mikael, gathering behind him.

"They can't kill me."

"True, but it'll make a hell of a party game." Klaus smirked. "All I have to do is rub these two fingers together, and they'll pounce." He held two of his fingers up, ready to snap them together.

"The big bad wolf." Mikael spoke in a drawl, taunting tone. "You haven't changed. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward." He spat. "You only forget - they may be sired to you but they're still part vampire. And they can be compelled by me." Mikael gestured for Adelaide to be brought into Klaus's view. Klaus immediately took a step forward but stopped when he reached the doorway limit. One of more step and Mikael would have him. Adelaide didn't think she had ever felt this much fear before. Fear for herself, for Klaus. She shook her head, silently gesturing him to not fight them for her.

"Adelaide..." he whispered, his eyes watering slightly. His voice cracked. It was the final piece that made something in Adelaide's mind click. She felt her bones grow in strength and a surge of energy flush through her entire system. With an angry yell she bent her stomach forward, dodging the knife as she grabbed it from the hybrid's hand and stabbed the other with it, all while kicking the other hybrid's head clean off. It distracted Mikael. That was only Klaus needed before he reached out grabbed a hold of her waist, pulling her inside just as Mikael sped towards him. Adelaide fell back as Klaus positioned her behind him. There was dried blood on her back and on her hand. A fire burned in her eyes. Quite literally. Mikael's angry eyes widened a little in something that she thought to be curiosity. A knowing smirk crossed his face as a chuckle escaped his chapped lips.

"I never thought I'd see the day." He strolled across the front porch, pacing. "The fire burning in your eyes. Like the gates of hell. You have no clue who you are." Mikael's words aimed at her, made her frown and growl at him in anger. He was highly amused however and didn't want to tell her any more. He clicked his fingers and Adelaide's eyes grew ten times wider as Elena was pulled into their view. Klaus stopped her from running back out to her sister.

"Come out and face me, Niklaus, or she dies." Mikael threatened, holding Elena's neck tightly. A sob left Adelaide's throat as she stumbled back, hitting the bannister.

"Go ahead. Kill her." Klaus scoffed.

"Klaus - no!" Adelaide was ignored.

"No, Klaus. He'll do it." Elena shook her head, scared.

"If she dies, this lot will be the last of your abominations." Mikael gestured towards the hybrids surrounding him, smug.

"I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you." Klaus didn't back down.
"To what end, Niklaus? So you can live forever with no one at your side?" Adelaide wanted to speak up for Klaus, but she too felt not only her own fear of Mikael but also Klaus's fear travelling like dangerous radiation through the air. Her throat closed up. "Nobody cares about you anymore, boy! Other than those's whose loyalty you've forced? No one. No one."

"Klaus don't listen to him. You know that's not true." Adelaide tried to steady her voice, wiping her tears away. She stood up, only to have a dagger thrown her way. She only moved out of the way enough so it didn't stab her, it did however scratch her arm.

"I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill her." Adelaide watched in horror, unable to comprehend the conversation as Klaus kept raising his voice every time he yelled 'kill her.' Nobody expected Mikael to actually kill her. A horrific scream left Adelaide's mouth as Elena gasped out in pain, falling to the ground as Mikael twisted the dagger out of her body. Not a moment later she felt a soaring pain erupt in her chest. She cried out, holding her hands to her chest as Damon sped forward and dug what Adelaide could only assume was the white oak stake into Klaus. Her chest felt like it was burning. Fire was burning from inside of her. She was on her knees, one hand flat on the floor, gripping itself into a tight fist, leaving crescent shaped scars on her palm as her other hand held onto the bannister. She heard an explosion. And then the pain slowly left. She looked up, pushing her hair away to see Klaus stood staring down at the burning body of Mikael, not lit up in flames with the white oak stake stuck in his chest. Across the floor was Damon and Stefan. The youngest Salvatore had pushed Damon off of Klaus, saving not only the Original Hybrid but also Adelaide.

"What the hell did you do?" Damon hissed at Stefan angrily.

"He's earned his freedom." Klaus looked down at the two, an expressionless glare on his face. Stefan stood up as Klaus compelled him his freedom back.

"Thank you, my friend. You no longer have to do as I saw. You're free." And then Stefan was gone and Damon had been long gone before.

"Nik-" Klaus turned around and saw Adelaide trying to stand up. He sped over to her before picking her up.

"It's alright love." He stoked her hair, soothing her. She noticed there was a dry tear stain on his face. Holding a hand up to his rough cheek, she brushed her fingers over his stubble before moving her hand to wrap it around his neck. Her feet lifted up onto her tip toes and she pulled him down to kiss her. He instantly kissed her back. The two of them feeling the pull grow stronger as she leaned back and he leaned over her a little. The kiss was full of passion but was also desperate. It was long over due for the two of them. Adelaide pulled away to breath heavily, her chest moving up and down rapidly, from the loss of breath and the adrenaline still pumping through her veins.

"Kiss me." She whispered. He didn't need to be told twice however because he lent back down and pulled her lips back to his own. She would deal with the others later. For the lying, drugging her, making her believe Elena was dead (she knew it was Katherine when the body disappeared), for trying to kill Klaus and therefore unknowingly almost killing her. The list could go on. In that moment all she could think about was Klaus. How they were both alive and how Mikael was dead. Klaus didn't have to fear him anymore. Mikael's words were in the back of her mind at that moment, but tomorrow when she woke up in Caroline's spare room, her day would be full of questions about what he had meant when he said 'like the gates of hell.'

"Where are we going Nik?" Adelaide asked him. She had changed into some spare clothes, comfier ones. She had no idea were Klaus was taking her. She had on a tank top and some black jeans with some Dr Marten boots and Klaus had given her his leather jacket. She didn't need it to keep warm, because the cold never effected her, but she didn't complain. It smelt like him, which comforted her. After their many kisses and maybe a make out session, which resulted in a hickey the six of a tennis ball on her neck, Klaus decided to take her out.

"Be patient little dove," Klaus told her. "Rebekah, where are you?" He spoke into his phone which went back to voicemail. Adelaide was beginning to worry for the blonde Original. Thinking back, she hadn't seen her at Homecoming and she had known Rebekah was beyond excited to go to her first ever dance. And now she was answering her phone either. "Pick up the phone darling. Daddy's dead. I think it's time we introduced Adelaide to the family." Klaus shared a look with Adelaide, who's eyes grew wider in surprise. Before she could say anything Klaus hung up on Rebekah and answered Stefan's incoming call. "Stefan. Miss me already?" Adelaide didn't bother listening in to Stefan's side of the conversation. "I live to believe I'm a man of my word. More or less." Adelaide chuckled at him. "Let bygones be bygones. Trust me, resentment gets old." They reached a container. Klaus lifted it up only for it to be empty. He turned around in anger. "No! What are you doing?" He paced up and down. "I will kill you and everyone one you've ever met." Klaus threatened him before taking his phone away from his ear and looking back at Adelaide. "Looks like the family reunion is going to have to wait little dove."ย

This was a super long chapter, but I decided to publish it all together.ย

THEY FINALLY KISSED!!!!!!!

Please tell me if any of this is confusing. I feel like sometimes my writing can be confusion 'cause I ramble a lot.ย

I hope you enjoyed it though.

And thank you for 5.9K likes!ย

Also I just wanted to mention that recently there's been a lot of comments about how people hate Elena. Of course you don't have to like the character, but I don't want people to think she and Adelaide hate each other. I'm not going to be making Elena into this horrible person. She's only trying to save the people she loves in the way she thinks is best. Which most of the time isn't the right way to go about it but still - it's the thought that counts :) But Elena isn't mean or malicious in this story. Just clearing that up.

Anyway...

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
