Stefan stood beside Elena who was in one of the arm chairs and Elijah stood behind the armchair. Alaric was sat in front of them all on the sofa opposite to the one Jenna and Adelaide were on. While listening to Alaric, Adelaide couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was going to go terribly wrong. And her gut feelings had never been wrong.

"So you don't remember anything that happened?" Stefan asked Alaric, walking forward.

"No. It's like I blacked out and woke up three days later." The history teacher explained. "Katherine was there." He sighed, avoiding Jenna's intense stare.

"She's under compulsion." Stefan informed him as they already knew where Katherine was. "Damon snuck her some vervain but she can't leave until Klaus tells her she can."

"Where is Damon?" Elena asked the group.

"I saw him go upstairs." Jenna pulled back, not sitting with her back hunched over anymore as she took her stare away from Alaric to look at Elena. Elena got up with a small sigh, deciding to go talk to Damon.

"What's this?" Adelaide looked up as she felt Jenna tap one of her legs. She only had some comfy shorts on so her legs were bare.

"What's what?" She asked, sitting up.

"This... I didn't know you had a birth mark?" Jenna looked up at Adelaide confused while the teenage girl looked down at her leg.

"Er, it used to be a lot smaller I guess. I never really paid any attention to it. It is definitely a lot bigger than I remember though." She replied, looking at the strange shaped birthmark. She looked closer as her eyes blurred slightly. She thought she had saw some black symbols but when she blinked they had gone. She shook her head, thinking she was just tired and stressed about the sacrifice. Elijah stared at her curiously, wondering what supernatural creature could she be if she wasn't human.

"What's that noise!" Adelaide sat up straight as she flung her legs off Jenna's lap and onto the floor.

"What noise?" Stefan asked but before he could get a response Adelaide had dashed up the stairs of the boarding house. By now everyone could hear Elena screaming in fright. Adelaide barged into Damon's room to see him forcing Elena his blood. Having being told what vampire blood could do to a human if they drank it and then died, and then drank human blood, Adelaide knew that if Elena was to now die she would be in transitioning to become a vampire.

"Damon!" Adelaide yelled furiously, trying to get him to stop. Stefan used his vampire speed to push past Adelaide and threw Damon across the room, away from Elena who had blood around her mouth. She was glaring at Damon as Adelaide rushed to check on her.

"What did you do?!" Stefan yelled at his older brother, furious with Damon's actions.

"Adelaide," Elena yelped, pulling away from her sisters touch.

"What?"

"You're skin is boiling hot." Elena informed the girl with wide eyes, holding her arm where Adelaide had placed her hand to comfort her. She pulled her own hand away to see a red hand print mark in her arm.

"What?" Adelaide stepped back, scared with what she had just done. She didn't even know what she had just done. Or how.

"Huh? What did you do?" Stefan was still shouting at Damon.

"I saved her life." Damon snarled. "You're so bent on dying, at least this way I know you'll come back." Damon told Elena while Adelaide backed away from her sister slightly.

"As a vampire!" Stefan fumed, checking on Elena, pausing to stare at the hand print now on her arm in confusion. "She'll come back a vampire."
"It's better than nothing else." Damon acknowledged.

"How could you, of all people, take that choice away from her?" Stefan walked closer to Damon as Elena groaned from behind him, still on the floor.

"Go ahead, wish me an eternity of misery. Believe me, you'll get over it." That was the last string from Stefan, as he rushed over to Damon and tackled him, throwing him into the lamp shade.

"Stefan!" Elena yelled, worried for her boyfriend as she knew Damon would respond and she knew Damon was strong because he drank human blood instead of animal blood.

"Admit it. You just wished you had the balls to do it yourself." Damon snapped at Stefan as the two brothers fought. Adelaide yelled at them to stop as Stefan grunted and the two began throwing punches. Stefan was that angry that he managed to use it to punch Damon so he fell to the ground but a second later Damon had used a fire poke to stab Stefan in the stomach. Stefan groaned as Elena pushed Damon away, holding onto Stefan.

"Get out of here!" Elena yelled at Damon.

"What's going on in here?" Alaric asked as he and Jenna entered Damon's room.

"Just get him out of here!" Elena yelled at them, sending glares towards Damon as tears fell from her eyes. Adelaide watched as Jenna gaped at the scene while Alaric went to take Damon out of the room. Damon shoved him off making Alaric put his hands up in surrender as he backed off. Stefan was still groaning as the fire poker needed to be pulled out.

"Ok, Jenna, downstairs are some blood bags. Go get them now. Go." Alaric ordered Jenna who ran out of the room to go get them.

"I've got to go." Adelaide ran out of the room, still trying to comprehend what she had done. She didn't feel boiling or too warm, she felt the same temperature. Her friends and family had always told her she had been really warm and sometimes her skin was too warm to touch for long, but she had never been able to leave burnt marks on people before. She decided she wanted to take a walk to clear her head but as she made her way out of the Salvatore Boarding House, stumbling as she went, she bumped into Elijah. She sprang back, not wanting to burn him either but she nearly tripped over backwards and fell. Elijah quickly used his vampire reflexes to keep her stable before letting go.

"Elijah-" she breathed slightly, "what's happening to me?"

Elijah had taken her on a walk through the woods while he explained what he did know. First of all he asked her to explain what exactly had been happening to her.

"I don't even know where to start." She laughed nervously, rubbing her fingers together as if itching between them all, a nervous habit she had.

"Let's start off with the fact that I've been able to hear things I should be able to hear. I've always been nosy and good at hearing but never like this... this is definitely supernatural." She explained, as they trekked through the trees. She was wearing her shorts still - which she regretted deeply - but she had tied her jacket around her waste to cover the backs of her legs more and keep them protected against any of the tall plants.

"This morning - I woke up and I couldn't breath. It was like there was no oxygen for someone to breath in-" he cut her off.

"Someone?"

"Yeah, It didn't feel like it was me who couldn't breath, if that makes any sense. I think I've lost my mind this past week." She sighed, running a hand through her hair, messing it up.

"Adelaide, feeling like you've lost your mind is expected of you. You've just found out that the supernatural is real and your sister is about to be killed in a sacrifice you are also going to be in." He told the younger girl, taking in what she was telling him. "Is there anything else that has been going on?"

"I burnt Elena." He stopped and turned to look at her shocked. "I mean... I don't know how it happened. I went over to see if she was okay after Damon forced her his blood and when I touched her arm she pulled away saying I was boiling. Elijah, I left a red hand print on her arm in a matter of seconds." She ranted frantically. "I hurt my own sister." She felt tears spring to her eyes but she refused to let them fall.ย

"I'm sure Elena understands you didn't mean to." Elijah told her.ย

"I'm scared. I don't want to hurt anyone." she whispered but she knew he had heard her.

"That shows you have a good heart." she forced a small smile, "There's something else." He noted. She licked her lips, biting on her bottom lip before sighing. She turned to look back up at Elijah before speaking.

"There is." She coughed to clear her throat before carrying on, looking at the ground, "I've been having these dreams. They er - there's a man in them. I've never seen him before. He sounds British. I can never see him clearly but I feel like - they don't feel like they're just dreams. They feel like visions, or-"
"Memories." She looked up quickly while nodding.

"Yeah. They feel like memories. But they're not mine. Not that I know of anyway." She explained, a chuckle leaving her lips.

"I think I know who the man in your... visions, is." Her eyes went wide at the news.

"Really? How?" She stuttered.

"Some of the things you have told me - the not being able to breath and the visions, they both add up to a tale myself and my siblings were told when we were newly turned vampires. The rest however - I do not know what supernatural being poses those traits. I can look into it however. I have some witch friends who have books on this sort of stuff." Elijah explained to her, avoiding telling her who the person in her memories was. He knew her memories had been taken from her.. by a vampire. By his brother specifically - Klaus. Klaus had met Adelaide before. She just didn't know it yet, or she did but it was taken from her memories. Elijah also knew that Adelaide was Klaus' mate. It would explain why she wasn't able to breath earlier. Klaus had been placed back into his own body, stopping his breathing for just a few moments and therefore stopping Adelaide's breathing. It made sense. It all added up. Adelaide was Klaus' mate. He didn't want to tell her just yet, however. He thought that it would be best if she heard it from Klaus himself. But wanting to kill her sister, was not going to be a good first, well second, impression on her.

"Are you going to tell me who he is?" Adelaide asked, already knowing Elijah would be keep quiet on the information.

Elijah sighed softly before responding, shaking his head slowly as he did so, "I am not the person to tell you, Adelaide. However the time will come soon. Sooner than you think."ย
