TWO
LILAH

Dale stands up from his seat and I roll my eyes when he sticks his hand out for Ollie to shake.

Always trying to be the people pleaser. Even when he knows he's disliked by certain people.

"Dale. Financial advisor." Ollie takes his hand and gives him a tight-lipped smile. "I worked closely with your father."

I have to hold back a smile when he gives Dale a nod and then moves on.

To me.

"And what do you do?" I point to myself and look around-making sure he's actually speaking to me, to which he nods.

"She doesn't work here." Dale speaks for me, annoyance clear in his voice. I bite the inside of my cheeks and lean back in my seat.

"What's your name?" Ollie continues to give me his attention, a cute smile on his face.

"Lilah." I smile back.

"Lilah." He repeats my name in his deep voice and I can't help but cross my legs together.

I really need help.

"What is it you do, Lilah?" I'm surprised when Ollie takes the empty seat next to me. I watch as he unbuttons his suit jacket and relaxes.

"I'm a self-publishing author." I tell him and he genuinely looks interested when I begin to tell him about my recent works.

"What type of books do you write?" He questions me further.

"Porn." Dale scoffs and I furrow my eyebrows at my husband.

"I write erotic novels." I whisper, my face heating up because Dale decided to embarrass me in front of his boss.

"Mmm, sounds interesting." Ollie smiles again and I almost melt to a puddle on the floor.

His smile is mesmerising.

I look down at my lap and huff.

What was even the point of Dale bringing me here? I could be in the bath with a glass of wine right now, but I'm here, sitting under his shadow as always.

I jump when I feel a hand gently brush against my leg.

"I'm guessing that's the husband?" Ollie nods his head towards Dale, who is too busy talking about himself to other people to notice Ollie and I conversing.

I nod my head.

"How long have you been together?" Ollie continues to question into mine and Dale's marriage.

"We've been together for five years, married for one." I inform him.

"And you're happy together?" He pushes his glasses further up the bridge of his nose, a small twinkle in his brown eyes.

"Of course." I give him a tight-lipped smile and reach forward for a glass of water.

I take a massive gulp and try to ignore the feelings that this man to my left is giving me. Especially when my husband is sat right on the other side.

"It was a pleasure to meet you, Lilah. Hopefully we'll meet again soon." I can't hide my smile when he grabs hold of my hand and kisses the back of it. His soft lips linger for a little before he pulls away-just when Dale decides to give me his attention.

Ollie walks off. He turns around one last time and throws me a smile before conversing with other people.

I release a small breath and take another gulp of my water.

+++

I take a huge gulp of champagne.

Three hours!

Three hours I've been sat at this table. It has to be around one in the morning and I haven't see my husband for at least two hours. If he hadn't taken the car keys I would of just gone home, but now I've also been drinking I'm probably going to have to get a taxi.

I grab my bag and stand up from my seat. I begin to feel a little tipsy, considering I've had about five glasses of champagne.

I try and look for Dale but I don't have any luck, so I make my way out to the hotel lobby and get ready to phone for a taxi.

"Lilah?" I spin around a bit too fast and almost stumble forward but Ollie catches me before I fall flat on my face. "You're still here?"

"Well my husband has done a disappearing act with the car keys. I'm now over the limit anyway so I'm calling a taxi." I huff and clench my eyes shut when I feel myself become dizzy.

"Woah. I don't think it's a good idea that you go home alone, especially at this time, beautiful." He chuckles lightly and I pout my lip.

"Well what else am I suppose to do?" I look up at him with wide eyes and tilt my head. "I'm tired, I just want to sleep."

"I'll get you a room for you to stay in tonight." He offers already grabbing my hand and leading me to the reception desk.

My God his hands are fucking huge!

"You don't have to do that for me, Ollie." I protest but he shakes his head and continues to book me a room.

I watch the receptionist hand Ollie a key card, a flirty smirk on her face.

I don't blame her to be honest.

"Room two-hundred and seven. Right next to mine." He smiles cutely and I laugh lightly.

"Thank you, Ollie. This is really kind of you, don't worry, I'll pay you back." He shakes his head.

"I don't want you to pay me back. As long as you're safe, that's all that matters." He whispers and my heart warms at his caring attitude.

Dale would never.

Stop comparing your husband to a stranger!

"Would you like me to walk you up to your room? O-Of course if you don't want me to I won't." He blushes and I coo at how cute he looks

"You probably should, before I end up collapsing before I get through the door." I grin and he laughs, nodding his head.

"Come on, beautiful." He leads me over to the lift. We both wait patiently until the doors open.

Ollie lets me step inside first before he walks in and stands tall next to me, pressing the button to the third floor.

"Thank you." I blurt out and he looks down at me, smiling.

"No worries, Lilah. Message your husband before he worries about where you are." He tells me and I sigh, pulling my phone out of my bag and sending a text to Dale.

He probably won't even read the message until the morning.

I look back up at Ollie to see his eyes on my chest. He catches me looking at him and quickly mutters a sorry before looking away, his face a bright shade of red.

I just about hear him mutter a small curse under his breath before the doors open.

Ollie and I begin to walk down the corridor until we end up outside my room.

"You'll be okay from here?" He looks down at me in concern and I nod my head.

"I will." I whisper as his eyes alternate between my lips and eyes.

Before anything that I will regret happens, I quickly open the door and step into the room.

"Have a nice sleep." He smiles, putting his hands in his pockets as he begins to slowly walk backwards.

"You too." I give him a small wave and slowly close the door.

I rest my back against the cool wood and release a sigh.

Why the fuck am I getting butterflies?!
