It was two days after Darnell's birthday and everything in the house was settling down. That morning Don and Darnell had an doctors appointment with Dr. Chance. They were worried that baby B still hadn't turned, he was still breached, forcing Darnell to have an c-section.

Of coarse Darnell cried, but Don and Dr. Chance reinsured her that she would be okay. Darnell wanted for her to having a c-section as last option. It was a high risk surgery, especially for Darnell after all that she and the babies had been through in this pregnancy. She just wanted the twins to be healthy and to have a stress free delivery.

The c-section was scheduled for the next morning. Dr. Chance didn't want to wait any longer. Both of the twins were progressing wonderfully at 36 weeks and by the size of Darnell's stomach, they were eating good and growing by the day.

When Don and Darnell returned home that evening they made sure that they had everything together. Don made sure the car seats were in his truck correctly. It was hassle seeing that he already had little Don and Nova's booster seats in his truck as well.

It was crazy to Don. Here he was a father of three soon to be five. A couple of years ago he couldn't even imagine being married and having any kids other than Kay. He thought it would just be him and Kay forever. Just him and his little girl, but now he couldn't see living his life without his family. Him and Darnell had been through so much. He adored Darnell because she stuck by his side through thick and thin and he knew without a doubt that he would do anything not lose her again.

Inside Darnell was in the twins room packing their hospital bag. She knew that they would have to probably stay in the NICU for a while but she still wanted to have everything they needed when it was time for them to be released. She already had packed her and Don's bags. It was just some comfortable clothes they could hang around the hospital in, along with their toiletries.

Darnell looked around the finished nursery.

She was thankful for Don and Yameer. They had really done a great job and Darnell was impressed by their work. It was crazy how fast this moment had came but, she wouldn't change it for the world. Soon her two boys would be home.

"You done mama?"

Darnell turned her head watching Don who stood in the nursery's door frame. She smiled giving him a second glance. Don was a beautiful man and sometimes Darnell wondered how she got this man that any woman could have to settle down with her. Yes, he made his mistakes but, deep down she knew he was a good-no great man.

From the outside, Don could come off as a thug. Sometimes his face held no emotion, it was just hard and stern. The many tattoos he had didn't help at all. But, once you really got to know Don, you could see he was a happy family man that loved his kids, his wife, and life. He was someone who loved to be around his kids, loved to laugh, and chill.

To Darnell, Don was her big teddy bear and she loved every time he gave her tight warm hugs, or when he gave her soft sweet kisses, or when his deep-raspy voice spoke so sweet to her.

She gave him a little nod. "Mhm."

She could hear his heavy footsteps behind her until his tall muscular frame engulfed her. He pulled her in close, wrapping his long arms around her. He kissed her cheek, ear, then neck before nuzzling his nose into her.

"I can tell your still nervous."

Don could tell just by how Darnell's body was so tense that she still was worrying about what would be happening in a short few hours.

Darnell blew out a long deep breath.

"Yeah I know what you and Dr. Chance was saying but I can't help how I feel. I just want everything to be okay."

"And it will mama. I don't want you stressing cause all that stress will go to the babies." Don turned Darnell around so now they were face to face. He held onto her shoulders gently massaging them hoping she would relax some.

"Say it after me: Everything will be okay."

"Everything will be okay."

"God is watching over us."

"God is watching over us."

"Our family will be okay."

"Our family will be okay." Darnell repeated as she let go of a small breath.

"I really appreciate you for that papa." She grabbed Don around his waste pulling him in as close as she could, settling her face into his chest.

"You know I got you mama." He chuckled. "I love you. You know that right?"

"Mhm. I love you too."

After their little moment Don just watched as Darnell moved a few things around the room. When she was done he grabbed the babies bags and left out he room to place them in the car.

Before leaving out Darnell turned around taking one last look at the room behind her. She said a little prayer to herself, asking God just to allow everything to go well then she turned the light off and closed the door behind her.

Later on that night, the whole Taylor family was gathered up in the movie room, eating from a box of pizza from a local pizzeria. It was little Don's idea to have a movie night. Honestly he just wanted to be under his mommy.  The news of the twins coming was something everyone was excited about.

Kaydence came walking up from the tent Don made up for the kids. She found her between Don and Darnell who were sitting in recliner chairs cuddled up.

"Mama?"

"Yes baby."

Don and Darnell laughed when Kay tried to snuggle between them. She pushed Don's arm away from Darnell's body causing him to suck his teeth. "Always cock blocking." He mumbled under his breath.

"Mommy you having the babies in the morning right?" Confirming what Don and Darnell had told them earlier.

Darnell nodded. "Mhm. Early in the morning. Daddy's taking us to the hospital." Kay waited a second before speaking again. She watched the large screen before turning back to Darnell.

"Mommy?"

"Yes Kay baby." Darnell didn't know where all these questions from Kay was coming from. Yes she was a child and children naturally talked and asked a lot of questions but, Kay was oddly curious tonight.

"If the babies are in your stomach, how are they going to come out?"

Don shocked on his glass of Henny he was sipping on. Darnell couldn't blame him, there was about to be two new babies in the house and he expressed to her how nervous he was about being a knew parent again but that's what he wanted- right, right.

"Um." Darnell looked over to Don for some help but he just shrugged his shoulders. They both knew the answer to her questions but was she old enough or ready to be told the truth?

Darnell looked back down at Kay's innocent but curious face. "It's a special procedure that Dr. Chance is gonna do." Kay nodded. "He's gonna um-" Darnell had to make a choice if she gonna tell Kay the truth or lie straight through teeth. She had to find a way to make something that she wasn't even comfortable with- almost child like and Don was no help.

"Pull them out of your belly button?" Kay asked. She gave Darnell a worried look.

Don and Darnell chuckled. "Not exactly baby. Dr. Chance will make a little cut in mommy's tummy and the babies will come out of it." Darnell placed her hand under her stomach. "They will give me special medicine so it won't hurt." She reassured her. "Then they'll close it up and mommy will be okay."

Kaydence looked at Darnell's stomach as if she was in deep thought while rubbing it. "Ohh Okay." She gave her mommy a small smile. After that, Kay returned to the tent that was over the cot on the floor with a now half sleeping little Don and Nova were laying.

Don watched Darnell looked off into space.  He grabbed one of her feet placing them in his lap and started rubbing it.

"What you over there thinking about baby mama?"

Darnell sucked her teeth looking over at Don who just gave her a sly look adding a wink. Her cheeks instantly turned a shade of pink. Don was something else.

"Life. That's all babe."

"You sure?" He questioned. Don was a little worried about Darnell. She had been in her own world since they had gotten back for her check up with Dr. Chance that morning. He tried his harder to comfort her but at the end of the day it was what it was. They just had to trust that God would work out everything out.

"Mhm." She gave him a small smile. "I'm good babe I promise. She grabbed his hand kissing the back of it. "I think it's time for all of use to be heading to bed." Darnell announced trying to change the subject. She didn't want Don to worry about- she didn't want to be worried at all. She figured a good shower and a good night sleep would help her get ready for the next morning.

She got up sliding her feet into her fuzzy house slippers. She went around turning the large projector off while do cleaned up the left over food to put up. She was glad the kids had already taken their baths for the night and where in their pajamas. When she finally got them to get up she ushered them off to their rooms so she could get them off to bed.

Darnell tucked little Don in first, praying with him before tucking him into bed and kissing him goodnight. Before leaving out she turned on his night light allowing his being to be covered with bright stars. Next she moved on to Kay's and Nova's room doing the same with them. Cracking their door closed she made her way down the hall to the master room. She didn't see Don in sight so she figured he was still in the movie room or down in the kitchen.

Slowly stripping out of the sweats and sports bra she had on, she made her way into the bathroom. She tired the shower water on warm letting it heat up while she wrapped up her now straight hair. After a couple of minutes she stepped in allowing the warm water to cascade down her body.

In her own world Darnell didn't hear or notice when Don stepped into the shower joining her. Don grabbed her rag and body wash lathering it to his liking. When Darnell felt Don's touch she wasn't started, she knew his touch anywhere and it always calmed her. She allowed him to wash her from head to toe and Don made sure he took his time.

He quickly washed up while Darnell rinsed off. When he was done he wrapped a fluffy towel around his lower half, then around Darnell as far as it could go. Her large tummy still poked out the front of the slit of the towel.

Darnell followed Don into their room where he already has their clothes laid out. Don made sure Darnell was dried of all the way before rubbing her down in coco butter. After, he dressed her in one of his oversized muscle shirts and a pair of her silky pajama shorts. Then he dressed himself in just a pair of boxer briefs.

Darnell didn't speak, even when Don rubbed her moisturizer on her face. He knew from her eyes that she appreciated everything that he was doing for her. Don didn't mind it, Darnell was always a dependent woman so when Don could do something for her, it made him feel like a man—her man.

Don pulled the covers back to their bed watching Darnell lay down and get comfortable. Before he got into the bed he left the light on in the bathroom but cracked the door letting the light shine through just incase Darnell had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. He turned off the room light before getting into the bed with Darnell, cuddle up to her.

She turned nuzzling her face into his chest and wrapping her arm around his waist as best she could seeing she had to babies between them.

"Thank you papa." She took slow breathes relaxing into Don as she took in his body scent. She was truly thankful for this man.

"You Welcome mama. You know I'll do any and everything for you." He kisses her cheek, forehead, then gave her lips a couple of pecks.

They exchanged "I Love Yous" before they both drifted off into sleep.

Next chapter we'll be meeting the twins. 💙👶🏽👶🏽💙
