Don checked the time on his watch showing it was almost 1:00pm. He decided to go ahead and head out to meet Jennifer. He texted her telling her he was on his way to her hotel.

Twenty minutes later he was pulling up to the DoubleTree and parked. He got out of his car and made his way inside and to the nearest elevator. He got on and pressed number 10 to get to Jennifer's floor.

Don rode the elevator until it stopped and he stepped off heading down the hall until he found room 1020. He knocked and waited until he heard the locks click.

Jennifer opened the door still in a pink pajama set and her hair all over the place. Don looked past her into the suite where there was clothes and toys scattered all over the floor. 'Damn this bitch dirty as fuck' he thought.

"What's up?" Don sent her a head nod as she opened the door wider for him to come in.

"Hey."

Don walked more into the room where he saw the little girl sitting in the middle of the couch still in her pajamas with a bag of Cheetos in her lap watching a show on NickJr. When she saw Don walking into the living space she waived at him and sent him a smile.

Nova

"Hey little mama." Don sat on the coach next to her.

Jennifer came into the room with a Dora book bag. "Nova you remember when I told you that you'll be spending the day with your dad?"

Nova nodded.

"Well this is your father." She said nonchalantly.

Nova's face light up. "Really!" She got up from the couch and gave Don a tight hug. "Hey daddy!"

Don didn't know what to say. He could be her father, but there was still a possibility that he wasn't. He didn't know who Jennifer was sleeping with. Shit he didn't know her last name.

Don just hugged her little body in return and tickled her stomach making her laugh uncontrollably.

"Alright here's her bag. It's enough clothes in there until tomorrow."

Don turned his head so quick that he thought he caught whip lash. He looked at Jennifer like she was crazy. She didn't say nothing about Nova spending the night with him. He wasn't even spending the night in his own home.

"I ain't say nothing about her spending the night. I said I was picking her up so she could spend the day with us."

"Damn. Your daughter can't spend the night at your house. My child's not welcomed in your home?" Jennifer tried to act offended.

"First of all you need to chill and second I don't know if she's my daughter for sure and neither do you." He looked down at his watch. "I ain't got time to be arguing with you. I got to pick my kids up from school in 30 minutes."

Don looked at Nova. "You ain't gonna comb her head or get her dressed?" Seeing Nova in a Cheetos stained shirt and her curls wild all over her head.

Jennifer looked around on the floor picking up clothes. "Yeah she got to take a bath, then-"

"What you been doing all day?" Don cut her off. "You know what? She just gonna have to go like this. Where her car seat?"

Jennifer pointed to it in the corner of the room. Don got up and got the car seat then slung Nova's bag over his shoulder. "Come on little mama." He grabbed her hand after helping her put on a pair of sandals.

"I go wit you daddy?" She asked looking at Don then Jennifer.

"Yep. Say bye to your mama."

"Bye mama!" Nova yelled while waiving at her. Don thought that she would be crying not wanting to leave her mom, but she had a huge smile on her face like she didn't have a care in the world. The perks of being a child.

"Tomorrow at 10:00 Jennifer. Don't be late."

"I hear you Don." With that Don left out the room with Nova holding tight onto his hand. He looked down at her once they got into the elevator and shook his head.

He had called Jennifer since that morning to let her know he was coming to get Nova and she still didn't have her ready by the time he came. He didn't want to judge her mothering skills but, damn what the fuck was she doing all morning that she couldn't have her at least bathed.

They made it to his truck and he put Nova's car seat between Kay's and little Don's. he got her settled in and put her bag in the trunk then got in himself and started the drive to Kay's school first.

The ride was full of Nova babbling and asking questions about what each button in the car was for. Don noticed that she was a really talkative child which was good. She wasn't shy or scary to be around him.

Don pulled into the car rider lane and stopped when he saw Kay's teacher standing outside with her class. When Kay saw her dads car she pointed and shook her teachers hand telling her that Don was there. Don got out and opened the door for Kay when she started to walk over to him.

"Hey baby girl." He picked Kay up and kissed her cheek blowing into it making farting noises.

"Daaaad." Kay squealed.

"Alright I'm done. Let's get into the car." When Kay got in she saw Nova and her face formed into confusion. "Hi what's your name?"

Nova looked at her. Before she could speak Don did for her. "That's Nova mama. She going to be spending the night with us."

"Like a sleep over?" She looked at Don with a smile on her face.

"Mhm."

"Yay!"

"Tell her your name." He told Kay.

"My name is Kaydence. You can call me Kay."

"Kay?" Nova asked.

"Yep. You got it right. High five." She reached her hand out for Nova and she returned it.

The two laughed.

Don made sure Kay was buckled up before getting back into the car. He started it and drove to get little Don. While driving he made sure to keep looking back in his review mirror checking on Kay and Nova. Every time he looked back they where either talking or laughing. If you asked him about what he wouldn't be able to tell you.

When they got to the daycare he got Kay and Nova out and put his code in to get inside of the center. He spoke to Katey the receptionist and signed little Don out. His teachers assistant brought him out to the lobby with his backpack in his hand.

Don dapped him up and took little Don's hand. He talked to Justin for a second asking him about how little Don was in class. Afterwards he lead them all out to his truck.

They all got in and headed to the house.

"Dillion this is Nova. She's staying the night with us." Kay said to little Don. "Daddy can Nova sleep in my room with me?"

"Yeah mamas"

"Dads were mommy?"

Don sighed. His son was such a mamas boy. "Shes at home. We'll see her in a minute."

Darnell was making lunch when she heard the door to the garage open. A couple of seconds pasted before she heard yelling of her kids.

"Mommy!" Little Don yelled out.

"I'm in the kitchen baby."

Little Don came in and hugged Darnell's legs.

"Hey my baby. How was school?"

"Good I just missed you."

"I missed you too baby." She picked him up and hugged his little body. She put him back down on the floor when Kay came in.

"Hey mommy."

"Hello beautiful." She kissed Kay on top of her head brushing back the little pieces of hair that came out of her ponytail. "Do you have homework?"

"Yes mam."

"Alright let's get started on it then." Kay got up on one of the stools in kitchen and pulled out her folder from her book bag.

"Where's daddy?"

"He's in the den with Nova. Mommy can Nova stay in my room tonight?"

"Um" Darnell looked at Kay. She had no idea what Kay was talking about. Why would Nova be staying in her room? "Yeah. Let me just go talk to daddy for a second."

"Okay." Kay nodded her head.

Darnell went into the den finding Don on the chair pulling out clothes from Nova's bag while Nova played with a doll.

Darnell entered the room and cleared her throat. Don looked up at her while she walked over to the couch.

"Hi beautiful. What your name?"

Nova smiled. "Nova."

"Nova. That a pretty name how old are you Nova?"

She looked down at her fingers making sure she counted out three fingers and she held them up. "Three!"

"That's great baby your soo smart." Darnell smiled a her taking in all her small features. Unlike Kay and little Don, she didn't have any of Don's features, but you could never tell these days. Her mom could have strong genes.

"It's nice to meet you Nova. You can call me Dee okay." Nova nodded her head.

"Daddy can I have some juice." Darnell was shocked when Nova called Don daddy. It hit her that she could really be his daughter. It was her decision if she was gonna stay around after these results or leave. She did say for better or worst, but she never thought for worst was Don having a baby on her.

Before a tear could form in her eyes she got up. "Come on Nova miss Dee will get you a juice." She held her hand out for Nova to get and led her into the kitchen placing her on a stool as well. She went into the fridge and pulled out three Capri Suns for all the children. She opened them up for them and placed it in in front of them.

She went into the drawer and pulled out a piece of blank paper and crayons and placed them in front of Nova. "Here you do baby. I'm going to go talk to daddy." They all nodded their heads.

Don was still looking at the clothes that Nova had. Darnell sat at the other end of the couch.

"I'm gonna have to go buy Nova some clothes cause she ain't got nothing decent to put on." He said still looking down.

"Why did Kay ask me if Nova could stay in her room?"

"Oh um." Don bit his lip. "Jennifer asked if she could spend the night."

"And you didn't think to call me a tell me that information?"

"I'm sorry."

Darnell rolled her eyes.

"I have no problem with her staying but I'll appreciate it if you tell me shit like that before hand. Don't you think Ive been blind sided enough?"

"I said I'm sorry. What else do you want me to do?" Don had a feeling that Darnell's frustration didn't have anything to do with Nova staying with them, but with the whole situation.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that Nova was going to stay the night. I apologize for not communicating with you."

"Whatever. I guess that means your staying the night as well?"

"Yeah. I guess so."

"The guest room has your name on it."

"For real? I was hoping I could sleep in my own bed. That hotel bed been having my back hurting."

"Well you thought wrong. Call up Jennifer and see if she'll give you a back rub." She said standing up and heading back to the kitchen to check on the kids.

"I just might." Don mumbled under his breath.

"What did you say?"

"I said... what a night."

"That's what I thought. Get fucked up Don."

As the night went on Darnell and Don watched as little Don and Kay interacted with Nova. They all played together and when it was time for dinner they all wanted to sit next to each other. After dinner, Don and Darnell got the kids washed up and ready for bed. Kay begged for Nova to sleep in her bed with her so they allowed them to have their own little sleep over.

Don went out to buy Nova some clothes and shoes to put on for tomorrow while Darnell went and got ready for bed. After her shower and getting dressed she laid in her bed thinking about what they had planned tomorrow. If any one would have told her that she'll be separated from Don and he could have a potential child that wasn't hers, she would have told them that they where out of their mind crazy. But here she was.

It wasn't long before tears started to cascade down her face and she let out a scream that seemed like came from the pit of her soul. She was trying to handle everything the best she could but actually seeing Nova made everything so surreal.

Before she knew what was going on around her she felt a pair of strong arms she knew all too well. Instead of resisting the comforting feeling she wrapped her arms around his body sobbing into his chest. The same arms that where trying to console her was the ones that brought her so much pain. But right now she didn't care about any of that, she just wanted to feel like everything was okay even it wasn't. Even if it was just for tonight.

All night long Darnell allowed Don to hold her and tell her how much he loved her and how sorry he was. Darnell prayed that she would get the results that she wanted, but if it wasn't then for God to prepare her for what was coming their way.
