Warning: This chapter contains (mild) gory descriptions. For those who are easily squeamish, you can skip the descriptions.

Eagle Academy, a glorious academy and also known for its prestigious status and ostentatious architecture. It has almost two hundred years of history, and the academy was maintained with care throughout the two centuries.

Regrettably, the same academy was now in ruins. It was filled to the brim with corpses, its humongous metal gates has been completely smashed. There was also a few holes in the concrete walls, and the corpses were aimlessly wandering in certain spots, while the others were eagerly trying gobble up innocent victims.

Cecil watched on in horror, in the novel, the academy sustained the same damages, but seeing it in person was a different thing. Cecil never thought she'll see the day the academy is brought to ruins, seeing how prestigious it was at first sight.

The author...really doesn't exaggerate. This academy, now looks like a dilapidated building because of this invasion of corpses.

Moreover, in the novel, Xue joined in the destruction. At that time, the souls wasn't in the academy but at the town instead. It seems like the time they had arrived here differed from the novel, or maybe something else had changed.

Kai: "In the academy, they are there, three of us."

Xue listened to Kai, observing the scene with a scowl. "Walking into the academy is impossible with these corpses."

"You want to find another way through?"

Xue shook his head, gripping onto his spear. "Launch me up into the air."

Cecil stared at him for a moment, and her limpid eyes lit up in understanding.

"Alright," she smiled. "Good luck, Xue."

Xue smirked, sauntering and halting a few steps later, spinning his spear and placing it in front of him. Cecil knew that was a signal, and she inhaled deeply, immediately conjuring a pillar and launching Xue into the air.

Xue whirled around in the air, aiming his body and his spear downwards, diving towards the centre of the crowd of corpses.

Cecil watched on in veneration.

Xue landed, cutting a corpse in half as it split apart like paper, the blood, flesh and guts splattered onto Xue, but he didn't care. His spear impaled the ground, the momentum causing a violent shockwave that blasted the corpses around him away.

In an instant, half of the crowd of corpses was wiped out. These corpses piled onto the other corpses, and soon it caused a domino effect.

Xue stood in the centre of the mayhem, wiping the blood and residue from his face, flicking his wrist. A portion of his clothes was a bloody mess, and he once again, kicked the broken corpse away.

Since it was already in half, Xue's kick caused more of its innards to fly out.

The smile dropped from Cecil's face long ago.

Actually...this isn't so cool to watch anymore. It is actually kind of...disgusting--

Cecil saw Xue plucking off a piece of flesh from his shirt, tossing it aside.

It looked like part of a tongue.

She became pale, her hand flying to her mouth as she retched.

"Let's go."

She stiffened, forcing a smile. "Understood, Xue."

She picked up her pace, glancing at the entrance of the academy, its ground completely blood-spattered and she shuddered upon seeing some pieces of...things she would rather not think about.

If one looked closely, they could still see it beating or moving.

An elderly man, with his bearded and wise appearance was in a defensive stance, a sword in his hand, panting heavily. There were groans, grunts and moans around him, a pile of bodies on the floor struggling in pain.

They were in the principal's office, and the bodies on the ground were the teachers who stayed behind to help.

Opposite him stood a svelte woman in a dressed in a figure-hugging black dress, that came along with a cloak and a hood. Her curly, grey hair cascaded down to her waist. She had an alluring appearance, a sexy smile playing on her sultry lips.

"Do I have to do it once more, old man?"

"We have no such person here!"

The gorgeous gray-haired dropped her smile, snarling. "Lies! He told me that such a person was here, and he would never lie. This is the second time I'm asking, old man!"

"We don't welcome your kind here, get lost." The principal of the academy stated coldly, his voice steady despite his exhaustion.

The woman smirked wickedly, "then give me what I want, and I'll get lost, or else..." she took the chakarm hanging at her hips by the dress. "Make me."

She giggled wickedly, twirling around with her chakarm as wisps of black smoke drifted out of it.

"Nah fut ha'al, kil vit tal, num del rik."

The woman, Yelena, chanted out in a foreign language, humming a sweet yet haunting melodious tune. Her enchanting voice was enticing, and the principal who heard her chanting, blanched.

This dreadful woman! How many more times is she planning to unearth the corpses beneath this land?!

The principal gritted his teeth, anger flitting past his eyes and his sword changed into a lava sword. He surged forward, aiming his sword at Yelena's head.

She glanced at the principal with an indifferent smile.

Two men suddenly appeared, putting a stop to his attack as they collided. A loud clang was heard throughout the room.

The two men, with a stunning appearance, were holding a lava sword and an ice sword. If it weren't for their eyes that appeared soulless and empty, along with their pallid complexion, and the scent of a rotten stench coming from them, people would assume they are a living person.

Yelena breathed in, closing her eyes in pleasure. "The land around here, it is really the best like he said. It's full of sorrow, bitterness and violence. All vengeful souls, wanting nothing more than to wreck havoc," she smiled and then shrugged. "Well, but the souls here are nothing compared to these gentlemen with me."

The principal staggered back, growing weak.

Yelena caressed the faces of the two men, their skin extremely cold. She leaned forward, planting a fervent kiss one of them on their cheek.

"Now, my darlings, grab that woman behind the old man, and hack her into pieces," Yelena stated, her voice saccharine, and the two handsome corpses moved, making her sigh in contentment. "Giving me such good corpses, along with such an easy task for repayment. I wonder if he likes me instead."

The corpses grabbed at the female teacher, and she struggled weakly in their strong grasp.

It was Eri.

The principal grew even more pale, clenching his jaw and trying to transmute his sword yet again. However, he had exhausted his elemental energy.

Eri cried out in fear, powerless and helpless, and the corpses threw her to the ground, lifting their swords up. Their empty and lifeless eyes scaring Eri even more.

"Wa-wait, stop!" A muffled voice hollered out, and the sound of doors being kicked open was heard. "You are right, I-I was here all along. Pl-please, let them go."

"Halt." Yelena ordered, and the corpses listened obediently.

Eri collapsed to the floor, the light in her eyes growing dull as she stared at the man stepping out from the shadows.

"Not bad," Yelena raised her eyebrows in approval, smiling seductively. "You really do resemble these two darlings of mine. What did he say your name was...? Ah, that's right, Alric."

The man, Alric, a good friend of the principal and also a wandering merchant, eyed the woman nervously. He was dressed in a sleeveless robe with a hood, the robe having hints of green for variety.

He was exceptionally handsome with an athletic build, just like Xue, except that his eyes and hair were a midnight black.

However, his mien was nothing like Xue, the terror on his face was apparent, and he was shivering slightly.

"Now, that wasn't so hard right?" Yelena poured, irked. "I wasted so much effort and time, just to lure you out."

"I'll give you everything I have! Please don't harm anyone else!"

Yelena appeared bored by his words, rolling her eyes.

"Pl-please don't kill me either, I'm just a--"

"Kill you? I wouldn't dare," Yelena raised her eyebrow. "Follow me, you are a present along with these two darlings of mine."

The door to the office slammed opened just then, and two figures walked in, side by side. One of them withdrew their leg that they used to kick the door open.

"We are here, according to him."

"That's good, oh...can...can he hear me?"

"Somewhat."

"Great job, Kai! Thanks for leading us here!"

"..."

Everyone turned to look at the doors, and a man and a woman walked into view.

Author's note: Update schedule will be changed from 4 chapters per week to 2 chapters per week for now. (Monday and Friday, instead of Monday - Thursday)

Hopefully, this will prevent me from going on a hiatus like I stated, because I have a bad habit of going on a hiatus and not coming back (cry).
