Xue clenched his jaw, struggling against his opponent. There was only one person in the world who could hold him back this easily, and in his current state.

The devil with the lazy smile.

“Veau, yo-you bastard!”

“Hmm,” the cobalt blue-haired devil shrugged. “There is no point in cursing me.”

K’xug had finished his fight with his opponent, bringing the unconscious demon over. He swooped down with his wings at that moment, and he witnessed the entire chaotic scene.

He paused.

Light magic.

Light magic from Hana.

She’s regaining her strength.

He gasped, looking towards the portal.

It was too late.

At the distance he was at now, K’xug couldn’t do anything. He couldn’t save Cecil even if he wanted to.

He noticed Xue was held back by Veau, not surprised by Veau's unexpected presence. He summoned his sword, sending it flying towards Veau.

At the same time, he dropped to the ground and hurled the unconscious demon aside.

“Light magic?!” The demon woman hissed out. “Damnit, the portal!”

The ice arrow that transformed into light magic pierced right into the portal, and the portal began to destabilize. Despite that, it was still too late.

Cecil sank right through it, her body disappearing. Everyone could only watch on helplessly.

“Cecil!”

“Damn it!”

Haru and Kiyae cried out, standing up on their feet.

Veau dodged K’xug’s sword, and it allowed the opportunity for Xue to slip past him and charge towards the frantic demon woman. She was the only one who knew where the portal went to, and there was no way Xue was allowing her to escape.

Veau simply turned back, sending out a swirl of black magic with a wave of his hand. It grew bigger and surrounded the demon woman, enclosing her in a barrier. Just before Xue could land a hit on her, he bounced back along with his spear, his eyes murderous as he glanced back at Veau.

“Thank you, Lord Veau!” The demon woman exclaimed, hurriedly disappearing from the scene after summoning another portal. “I will take my leave now!”

Xue tried to reach out for her again, but the barrier was simply too strong.

“Not so fast, Xue,” Veau smiled lightly. “It was disrupted, who knows where your dearest Cecil Lan has disappeared to now.”

“Xue! We’ll split up!”

“Yeah, she has to be here somewhere!”

Haru and Kiyae overheard Veau’s words. They set off and Veau tried to stop them, but this time, Xue was the one standing in his way.

“Are you sure you should be stopping me right now?”

“If I don’t,” Xue narrowed his eyes. “You’ll run off and kill them both.”

Veau raised his eyebrows. “What’s this, Xue? Have you finally decided to make friends once again?”

Xue’s figure disappeared and appeared behind Veau, but that swift attack was quickly prevented by Veau.

“Indeed, all your temporary partners are bad news, captain!” Kiyae sighed, splitting up from Haru. “Like always!”

Haru narrowed his eyes at Veau for a moment, clicking his tongue. He went in the opposite direction from Kiyae.

Too bad.

I kinda liked him too.

The short interaction that he had with Veau at the banquet left a good impression on him. Alas, they just weren’t on the same side.

On the other side, Hana had watched as Cecil disappeared without a trace and the portal swallowed her up.

“No,” Hana whispered out, her vision growing blurry as the same voice echoed in her mind. “No…”

The voice was growing more intense, and she knew she was going to faint anytime soon.

However, all Hana could focus on was the fact she had failed to rescue her friend from danger. Her efforts in growing stronger...it seemed so futile now.

I...couldn’t do anything.

Cecil…

Her body swayed and her eyes closed, unbeknownst to the black tendrils shooting out from her right, aiming straight for her.

A man with copper-brown hair appeared right in front of Hana, using his swords to block the attack. The tendrils dissipated, and all that was left were thin needles that glinted in the light, K’xug swiftly grabbed them from the air with one hand.

He used his other free arm to catch Hana before she fell to the ground. He observed her in concern, shaking her slightly before he realised she had fainted.

He shifted his focus to the needles in his hand, and he inspected them closely. From afar, if one took a glance at these needles, they would think it was an average needle. Nevertheless, K’xug knew it was far from that.

The needles were pulsating with dark magic, and they started to merge together in his palm. The needles had become as large as a knitting needle. On the huge needle, there were symbols engraved on it.

It’s Zeau.

The weapon that can only be found and used by him and his clan.

The person himself revealed himself as he appeared right in front of K’xug.

“Releasing you was already a mistake,” Zeau stated gloomily. “And now Hana is regaining her powers back?”

K’xug lifted his head up as he crushed the item in his hand, and it dissipated into a black mist.

“It can’t be helped, Valoel placed his own magic on her along with my seal,” Veau materialized beside Zeau, sighing. “That old geezer needlessly interfered.”

Xue clashed with Veau, and avoided an attack from Veau. He leapt back, joining beside K’xug who carried Hana in his arms.

Xue glanced towards Hana, and gestured for K’xug to take her away.

K’xug shook his head.

He wouldn’t allow Xue to take on these two alone, especially since Xue was hardly anywhere near his full strength.

He placed Hana down on the ground and built a barrier of his own with light magic. Although it wasn’t powerful compared to someone with pure light magic, it was still a barrier that would protect Hana.

“You shouldn’t have released K’xug, brother,” Zeau spoke lowly, anger lacing his voice. “And neither should you have trusted Valoel to take care of the seal on Hana.”

“...”

“You were being sentimental, aren’t you? You don’t want to kill him.” Zeau probed.

“Fine, yes, I admit that is why,” Veau sighed, looking at Zeau. “Now let me ask you, brother. You don’t want to kill him either, didn’t you? Since you are equally sentimental like me.”

“...”

This time, Zeau became quiet.

Zeau started to recall the fond memories he had with Xue, K’xug and Veau. However, he stopped, hardening his expression.

“I can...kill him.”

“You are an awful liar, Zeau.”

“...”

“And for that old geezer,” Veau shrugged with a smile. “How was I supposed to know he would decide to take pity on a single angel that he once met? He hasn’t done that in hundreds of years.”

It was already done.

There was nothing Veau could do to overpower Valoel currently. After all, he did spend a good portion of his power rendering Xue and Hana powerless and sending them both down into the mortal realm.

“I’ll strengthen the seal you placed on Hana,” Zeau narrowed his eyes at Xue and K’xug standing before them, hiding Hana behind them. “It’s our only chance now, and it would be enough to override Valoel’s own light magic spell.”

“If you are just here to kill the runaway angels, do as you please,” Xue scowled. “We won’t interfere.”

“Of course, the two of you wouldn’t,” Veau smiled lazily, gesturing to Zeau beside him. “But my dearest brother here has always been skeptical of someone with an inch of angelic blood in them.”

Zeau gave Veau a look, before he took the first move. He rushed forward to Xue and K’xug, clashing weapons with them.

Veau joined in.

Eventually, the empty street was filled with the sounds of weapons clanging accompanied by the trail of black mist and white mist colliding with one another, both in the air and on the ground.

Hana was still protected by the barrier, lying unconscious on the ground.

The moment Cecil passed by the portal, she felt something buzzing throughout her entire body and she noticed the passageway created by the dark magic breaking apart. It revealed the sky above her, and she noticed that the demon woman planned to let those who entered through the portal fall to their deaths.

Fortunately, due to the accidental use of light magic from Hana, the journey high up into the sky was cut short.

Alas, her luck wasn’t any battle when she found herself falling right into the fray of a battle. The black and white mist were engaged in a fierce battle.

Why have I been teleported here?!

This is the worst!

Cecil gasped, trying her best to land safely. Just then, the white mist travelled past her and she landed right on it.

It turned out to be the fair-skinned angel that had ran into Xue earlier.

Alas, she ended up using him as a cushion.

“Ugh!”

Just like that, she made the angel unconscious since he was already injured from the earlier fight.

Cecil hastily stood, glancing down and she placed her palm on her forehead.

[ Cecil Lan. ]

[ You are truly unlucky~ ]

“...”

The black mist materialized right into a man, possessing the same traits as a demon, and recognition flitted past his eyes.

“You are one of the mortals with the Supreme God,” the demon grinned maliciously. “If I kill you, I’ll get a reward from Lord Zeau.”

Cecil widened her eyes, snapping her head to the demon.

The demon started coalescing a ball of dark magic in his hands.

Not good!

A hit from that would end up killing me! Or make me disintegrate like nothing!

I need something to absorb the impact for me, like an armour or shield or--

Somehow, Cecil recalled the time she bought the storage ring, she remembered there was an armour of some sort being sold in the shop.

“AI500! The points shop! You sold armour at that time!”

[ Knight Armor
Description: Armors made for knights! Unfortunately, it will only last two hits against heavy attacks before crumbling into pieces. Use it wisely!
Price: 10,000 points ]

[ Are you perhaps referring to this? ]

[ However, it would still be fatal for you if you were to use this armor.
If you use your remaining 10,000 points, the armor can be upgraded~ ]

“Yes, whatever! Do it! Use it! Now!”

The demon fired his ball of dark magic at that moment. Cecil dodged to one side, however, the dark magic was honed in on her. Cecil widened her eyes in horror, it advanced rapidly towards her and before she knew it, it was a few inches away from her chest.

“N-no!”

“I don’t want to die just like that!”

Just then, a strange feeling overwhelmed Cecil. A warm and light feeling tickled at her chest and all the way down to her knees.

[ Remaining points: 0 ]

“...?!”

The demon was surprised, sensing something unusual from Cecil.

At that moment, a silver armor covered in a golden sheen covered her entire body. The armor seemed to resemble a knight armor, but anyone could tell it wasn’t a typical knight’s armor. After all, a typical armor would not have a shining golden lustre like that.

“Th-that powerful light magic…!”

Cecil snapped her eyes towards the demon.

What?

Light magic--

The ball of dark magic touched her chest at that second, sending her flying into the sky.

Bam!

The attack was truly frightening.

Cecil could still feel a faint dull pain on her chest, and she would have coughed up blood if not for the upgraded armor.

The demon watched as the mortal raven-haired woman soared through the air.

“But she is only mortal, how...” the demon blurted out, utterly bewildered. “That kind of power is only...”

He staggered back, his face pale.

Due to the unexpected discovery, the demon was too distracted to notice that the angel behind him had awoken. The fair-skinned angel did not hesitate, taking the opportunity to deliver a heavy strike on the demon.

The demon was the one to be unconscious this time.

On the other hand, Cecil could not control her speed or movement in the air, her surroundings were a complete blur and her eyes were squinted.

The armor around her dissipated into tiny golden particles, scattering into the air.

Again, in the air…

...and this time...there is nothing that I can do.

The armor was completely used up.

She guessed she might crash right through the ceiling of a building, and land on the ground with a splat.

Just then, the system in her mind started beeping.

Cecil was sure AI500 would start warning her about her imminent death, and how it was her responsibility.

Just like it always did.

To her surprise, AI500 did not and instead, spoke in a strange manner.

[ … ]

[ Do not worry, Cecil Lan. ]

[ It is not yet time for you to die. You still need to be alive. ]

"...you..."

For once, she was actually wondering about the identity of the system in her mind.

"AI500."

"Are you truly just a system?"

"What exactly are you?"

《 start 》

The private room in the restaurant was designed in a simple european style, one that fits a small restaurant.

Inside the private room, it was a mystifying sight for any angel or demon to witness. There were five people inside the room, an array of dishes laid out across the big round table.

The five people were simply two demons, two angels and one of mixed-breed.

Moreover, it wasn’t just simple angels or demons.

Two were the rulers of their realm, while the others held equally important positions. To escape their duties, they had descended down to the mortal realm for a breather.

There was another table in the large private room, with two people seated opposite one another. On the table, it was a game of chess.

You lost.

Veau smiled lazily, relaxing back in his seat.

Whatever.

Xue waved his hand in frustration, sighing.

I always end up losing anyway.

Hana peeked over Xue’s shoulder, pointing at the chessboard.

What if...what if you moved this piece to here just now?

That Hana...

Zeau was smiling gently, leaning against the wall. However, his tone sounded rather helpless.

Xue would have lost earlier if he did that.

K’xug held back his laughter.

...pfft

Hana covered her mouth in embarrassment.

Re-really? Hehe, oops!

Zeau moved forward, pointing his fingers around on the chess board.

If Xue had moved this here, and that here at the first few moves, it would have probably gone better.

What? Really?

Xue groaned.

You could have said something, Zeau!

Now why would my brother help you beat me?

Right now, I am tempted to.

Zeau jested, still smiling.

Forget it, forget it.

Xue grumbled out, before he grinned and rubbed his hands together.

I learnt a new trick together while sparring with Mir. Let me show you real quickly...

Xue licked his lips in excitement, waving his hand and a mirror materialized right onto his hand.

Isn’t that the useless relic, the soul-trapping mirror? Some old bearded angel created it, assuming it would be an effective defense mechanism.

Veau asked in amusement.

Well, brother, it isn’t useless. It only works on mortals, which has no business with us angels and demons.

Zeau stated.

That’s why it’s useless.

K’xug retorted back.

Xue nodded eagerly.

You two really recognised it in an instant, as expected! See, I wanted to study the pattern of light magic inside the mirror, aftering dismantling and assembling it back.

Xue furrowed his eyebrows in concentration, the mirror hovering above his palm.

Damn it, it takes quite a while to--

The door to the private room opened at that moment, a waiter coming in with a bright smile.

Esteemed guests, would like us to refill your--

Ah! You idiot! Why did you come in without knocking!

A bright light shone from the mirror, the waiter with a bright smile found himself getting sucked into the mirror without any warning.

Xue grew pale, looking back and forth between the mirror hovering on his palm and the place where the waiter originally stood.

Mhmm.

Veau gave Xue a thumbs-up, nodding.

Great trick.

K’xug placed his hand on his forehead.

Xue...

Hana was horrified.

The mirror ate that man! Ate him all up!

Zeau almost wanted to laugh at Hana’s description.

Very...good trick, Xue.

Th-this isn’t the trick! That guy entered the room without any warning!

Xue panicked.

Veau did not seem to want to help Xue at all, clearly entertained by the complicated situation.

Do more tricks like that, Xue.

You--Veau, shut up!

That...Xue, don’t panic. Just disable the mirror.

Zeau suggested calmly.

Xue hurriedly disabled the powers of the soul-trapping mirror. The waiter was immediately vomited back out, wearing the most bewildered look on his face as he stumbled.

Xue tugged at Veau’s sleeve, his eyes wide as he seemed to be pleading Veau.

Veau sighed, slapping Xue’s hand away.

This is why they call you Poop God.

K’xug nodded in agreement.

Xue is Poop--Poop what?

Poop...God…

Hana and Zeau who were new to this title, couldn’t stop themselves from laughing.

Veau pointed two of his fingers at the waiter, a swirl of dark magic drifting out and wrapping around the waiter’s head. The waiter, seemingly wearing a blank expression, walked out of the room.

It was like nothing ever happened.

Hana and Zeau were still laughing.

Xue was mortified, grimacing and grumbling to himself.

Any more tricks like that? Poop God.

Veau questioned, amused.

K’xug snorted,

I told you that wasn’t the trick, damn it!

From that day on, the infamous Poop God never dared to touch the soul-trapping mirror ever again. It was truly a useless relic, and a relic that made him feel like he was eating poop whenever he saw it.
