Crippled upon impact, two of Jaiiq's travelling companions dead, the remaining three mortally wounded, he, their Pilot, with the aid of a thought image induction recording device known as a Qristraal, tells his story and recounts certain events that led to the small group choosing to trek to that World. With him are TNaa, the Craft's Navigator, Ro'Ald, Jaiiq's brother, Ttam, a younger male, Kiiya, a nearly mature female, and Lyyxia, a not so physically mature female. TNaa and Ttam are killed upon impact.Within one day Jaiiq is alone, without food and water, and facing his inevitable death either from attrition or local predators. This is handled as what he and his companions are, CottHaar, educated to CottHaar beliefs and understandings; not Human beliefs and understandings. The story ends the only way it can, the thought images being embedded into the Qristraal cease and the reader is left to contemplate what happened.Did Jaiiq also die?Did the device break? One thing we do know, the small group is not rescued by CottHaar search party. If the crash took place upon this World, the year these inscriptions came to be would be 1947 and the locality would be somewhere near Roswell; not that Jaiiq knows. Not being indigenous to the World upon which he and his companions crashed, how would he know that World's dating system or regional names?…
