Magic has shaped countries, cultures, and co-existed with humans, that is until the first seeds of ambition and distrust were sown. Humans have since the beginning of time feared what they could not control. Eventually, there came along those who believed themselves able to grasp a hold on magic they didn't understand, corrupting the pure power with their dark intentions and greed. With their new found power, they became greedy for more, their dark ambitions spreading swiftly across Europe. From this, The Order of the Eternal Flame was born. Commissioned by the royal families thought to be just characters in fairy tales, these heroes swore to protect the magical entities threatened by the evil doers. The Order was tasked with hunting them down, stripping them of their powers and making sure they could never rise from the ashes again. But the damage was done. Fear turned into prejudice which turned into hatred until ultimately... it turned into extinction. All magical creatures and individuals were forced into hiding, or to blend into our current modern landscape to survive. Out of sight, out of mind.... magic became nothing but fairy tales. Though The Order's remained active, taking on the role of their guardians; protecting both good and bad magic while keeping them secret and hidden. Grizel inherits pants full of reptiles as she learns that she is a reptilian sorcerer. This collection of stories will delight readers from ages 8 to 12 who love adventure, magic and fairytales. Tekeyla Friday is the children's programmer for the Chinook Regional Library. She plans children's literacy programs and writes funny puppet shows. She had written stories since she was eight years old and always wanted to be a children's writer. In 2010 and 2011, R.E. A.L Canadian Kids Magazine published two of the pieces in this book.
