While reading "VICTUALS: An Appalachian Journey, with Recipes", I was humming, tapping my feet, grinning, and "itchin' to get to the kitchen". Author Ronni Lundy and photographer Johnny Autry have wonderfully captured the essence and timelessness of the Appalachian region of America and the amazing spirit of its people. I was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Virginia, where I still reside. This is the land of my mother and her family. My father and his family were from the hills of East Tennessee. I laughingly and proudly call myself a "Mountain-Billy". I have many friends from the proud state of Kentucky, and I long ago became enchanted by the marvelous mountain state of West Virginia. "VICTUALS" (the term is also plainly called "vittles") offers an inside look at an area of our country which is frequently stereotyped. It's a way of life where great poverty often exists alongside great pride. Appalachia is a country within a country where a violin became a fiddle, and the music and dance of Scottish-Irish heritage became known as "Blue Grass". It's where you fix up a "mess of kress", make apple butter outdoors in a big copper kettle over a wood fire, and you cook a pot of beans or a pan of greens with a ham hock or a hunk of fatback or side meat. Perfectly delicious and golden-crusted cornbread bakes in a well-seasoned and blackened old cast iron skillet. You wait, impatiently, for hand-cranked vanilla ice cream served with fresh seasonal fruit. Buenas gente, primero que nada quiero decirles aspectos importantes a tomar en cuenta durante el transcurso de esta historia y es que actualmente curso una carrera universitaria (sé que no quieren saber mi vida pero lo considero importante porque esto decidirá cuanto me demorare en actualizar un capitulo) por lo que algunas veces los trabajos, pruebas, interrogaciones, exámenes etc... son muchos así que puede incluso que me demore meses en actualizar pero no se preocupen que siempre me dedico tiempos libres para hacer lo que a mí me gusta.En fin les daré un pequeño resumen de esta historia larga (así pretendo que sea uno pretende cosas y no siempre funcionan "eso he aprendido de esta vida") que para ser sincero no cuenta con un protagonista en si ya que todos los personajes son igual de importantes, en fin aquí voy:"Un día como cualquier otro en nuestro planeta se presentan fenómenos extraños los cuales abarcan gran parte del mundo modificando genéticamente la forma de ser, actuar, pensar y convivir de la humanidad, los afectados directamente por estos acontecimientos no presentan inconveniente alguno durante un gran lapso de tiempo, pero llegado cierto tiempo presentan dolores de cabeza, trastornos mentales y esto siempre termina con el desvanecimiento de la persona, al despertar se percatan de presentan cambios físicos y poderes sobre naturales. Un desconocido que se hace llamar "El mensajero" (el cual aún es desconocido su líder) les da información a los afectados del cambio brusco que sufrieron repentinamente y les hace saber que ya no pertenecen a la raza humana y que ahora pertenecen a una raza superior llamada "Los Telequinesicos" .La pregunta es ¿Podrá la humanidad adaptarse a estas nuevas formas de vida? ¿Se respetara la mutua convivencia entre todos? Todas estas respuestas y más se responderán con el desarrollo de la historia.…
